Awful customer service. Wine tasted alright however the treatment received was so bad it ruined the experience for us. Wouldn’t go back.

We were in Carlton enjoying several tasting rooms. We thought we’d go into one of the smaller rooms, The Barking Frog. Boy did we regret it. The owner/winemaker ignored us and did not even bother to tell us what he was pouring. Eventually we had to ask. He seemed to be struggling with multitasking and was only paying attention to the other two people there. We did taste their wines but all of this colored our perception. It’s not like we are strangers to the whole experience, one of us is a wine steward. If you go be forewarned the man is in need of a make over with his salesmanship.

On the recommendation of a friend my husband and I stopped by last weekend for a full tasting. The tasting room is in downtown Carlton, it is small and in need of updating. They only make reds. One of the owners poured for us and we took home two bottles. A good stop if you like big reds.

Very dissatisfied. We arrived at 5:20 and they would not serve us. And they did not open until after 1. Would not go there. Customer service was BAD!!!

My favorite winery… and it doesn’t even have to have a view. Take away the fact that some wineries are good because they have rolling green grass, and all you are left with is mediocre wine. Barking Frog has a ton of GREAT wines(my favorite being their Syrah) and great service to match(it’s a family run business and you will find pretty much all of them there on the weekends). The friend who had come with me bought a couple bottles of their dessert wine — which she then lightly heated at home to sip in front of the fire. The last time I ventured out to Carlton, they had a large complimentary buffet of wonderful nibbles to pair with the wines, as well as an amazing live duo playing something that sounded like a cross between Nora Jones and Sarah Mclachlan. We enjoyed a flight of their latest wines today at the Portland Seafood and Wine Festival… and again, it was our favorite winery. In real estate they say«Location, location, location, but in the wine industry it’s about«Flavor, Quality and Customer Service». Barking Frog has aced all 3 of these.

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago and tasted some of the wines. Ron was serving and very knowledgeable about his wines. We loved the Syrah and bought a couple of bottles. Will definitely be back.
