My sister has previously reviewed them with 5 stars as well! WHEREDO I START. Amir and Surf Brothers Teriyaki SAVED my wedding. Our caterer went MIA the week of our wedding and we gave it until 10:00 to hear from them the day of and they never showed up. Amir gave us his personal number and gathered employees to be on-call in case we needed help. All I have to say is that they killed it. We were intensely stressed out and the Surf Brothers crew came in and not only set up catering, but served all of our guests. Needless to say they were SOHAPPY and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We have been getting Surf Brothers since I was a kid.(Tokyo’s, Island Bros, etc) We have had them for previous graduations, birthday parties, baby showers, mothers days, etc… and they have never disappointed. This experience is not only a reflection of amazing customer service but it is also a story of a local business giving back to its loyal customers, and I couldn’t be more thankful. The crew left us a beautiful card with a gift certificate to the restaurant and we can’t wait to use it to come in and thank every one in person. We are eternally grateful and we will be using their catering for the rest of our lives. Thanks again Amir and Surf Brothers family, you guys gave us the best gift of all-Happy family and friends on our wedding day! I seriously cannot thank these guys enough, we were overwhelmed by how amazing they were. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!

The brothers who own this exemplify Perfection in small business ownership. Anyone who wants to know what it takes to be successful should study their drive, work ethic and attention to detail. The food is amazing(I do miss the old skewer style) and the sauce is more addictive then the Caramel liquid crack Starbucks employees in the caramel fraps.

We came in to find very simple menu and had ordered two steak and two chicken orders. We enjoyed heck out of our dinner until we found a piece of hair in my husband’s mouth. Yuck! It was mixed in with the salad. Other than that, everything was good. Good service as well.

Surf Brothers is an office favorite for my company! The menu is probably the most simple menu I have ever seen. However, it is great quality! The customer service is great and I always feel welcome. It’s a perfect spot for a quick and simple lunch. Thanks guys!

Very simple and straightforward menu: chicken or beef, white rice or brown. BAM, there you go! The grilled chicken and beef are sooo good, you can see them cooking it right on the grill top and it has that wonderful taste that can only be accomplished by a good grill. I also got the donburri(chicken simmered in their signature terriyaki sauce), but I still prefer the grilled chicken. Big portions and yummy, I’d recommend for a quick, delicious meal if you’re in the area!

I love Surf Brothers Teriyaki. What was the original name again? Teri Brothers? It does not matter because I have been obsessed with them since I can remember(early/mid-90s). I’m pretty sure the menu was just teri chix, rice and cabbage salad back in the day. Nothing else. Now they serve beef and sliders as well as their famous teri chicken. I always get all rice because their sticky rice is better than I can make or find elsewhere. I wish they had a location closer to home but it is all good. I look forward to stopping in whenever I get a chance. I recommend stocking up on bottles of sauce. They make great stocking stuffers… thanks Santa. Also staff is GREAT. I would eat a plate everyday if I could!

Definitely a great place to have lunch. I’ve been here a couple times for my lunch break with no problem. No matter how busy they are it’s really easy to order considering they only have 3 different plate options. They constantly have the meat cooking so your food is ready FAST! I generally go for the chicken plate since it’s yummier with the sauce. It’s a small place so not much to sit down and eat during lunch rush. The coleslaw salad that comes with it is perfect! Not runny at all and just a right amount with the dressing. Definitely will stay one of my options for lunch!

Ate here today for the first time ever and all I can say is wow it was super good BUT my only complaint is I wish they would give a larger portion of meat. I had the chicken with brown rice and it was delicious, give us more meat I want it.

I come here pretty much every week, with work being so close. It’s always reliable, as their service, food, and speed are very consistent. I get the combo plate as both the chicken and steak are great!

For starters, in the city I live in, Hawaiian BBQ establishments are few and far between. So, I figured, coming out to California, finding decent Hawaiian cuisine would be a smooth discovery. We saw the reviews for Surf Brothers and thought, «Huh, Hey Bud, Let’s Party.» But the party was only a mere get together once I tried the food. To be abundantly fair, my wife loved her food and said this was her favorite restaurant we tried this year in Southern California, but unfortunately for her, that opinion is worthless in y review, C’est la vie. My beef was dry. The sauce was mediocre and the rice was stickier than Uncle Ben’s in the Microwave, I am being a bit harsh, but that’s because I was anticipating a bit more based on the reviews. I may be back on my next trip, but I won’t be sad if I miss it. I’d take Lani’s Luau in Tucson 10 times out of 10.

Went here last night: the food was low quality, looked unclean; the service quite bottom-of-the-line and all in all a place i would never revisit. What I just don’t get is why so many high rating? Please… travel a little and try good food in other parts of the country and the world. I’m starting to ignore all Unilocal ratings because they are never realistic. This stuff is garbage.

Teriyaki on the fly! This place is located along Palomar Airport Dr, in a little shopping strip mall next to Staples, Starbucks and Viet Bistro. Everything about this business is great. The food taste great and is reasonably priced. However the one thing that stands out is the service. The times that I’ve been here it has been lightning fast, with fresh food straight off the grill. I can recommend the the mixed grilled plate with brown rice. Always comes out fresh and hot. The sliders though are the crown jewel. On Hawaiian bread, fresh ground and shredded beef with salad you can’t go wrong. Overall Food: 4 – 5 Drink: 3 – 5 Service: 5 – 5 Coming back: Yep

Bring back the skewers! I’ve been going to surf brothers for a long time, but nowhere near as frequently(maybe once a year, now) since they changed from the skewers to just strips of steak/chicken. The quality and flavor or the meat was SO much better before. That isn’t to say that it isn’t good now, it is. Just not what it once was. The white rice is magical. Seriously, so so good. I never eat white rice, but make an exception for Surf Brothers. Don’t forget the extra teriyaki sauce, too!

I just had the best experience(as I always do) with a girl named Carmen. She’s an angel. My mother passed away this week and we spent forever at staples next door doing prints. I swear God sent such a sweetie to me to help me with my drink. «I got your back» :) that’s what I told her cause I knew I needed to shout to surf brothers that she is the employee companies need. Smiles. Laughing. Helpful. Sincere. She’s an angel, little did she know.

Little taste of paradise in a cup. Teriyaki Chicken plate lunches take me back to the islands. And Surf Brothers nailed it. I just started working down the street and I finally made it here. Needless to say, I’ll be giving them my money on a monthly basis. Chicken was tender, brown rice was moist and the staff were great. I expected to wait for my food during the lunch rush but with a minimalist menu, I had my food within minutes. Two thumbs up.

Yum! Onolicious! Just like Hawaiian style plate lunch – chicken or beef teri with sticky, white rice, a light cabbage slaw without mayo(a healthified version, which I prefer). Under $ 8.50 for a generous portion. We got take out after Legoland to eat at the hotel. Perfect! Thanks Unilocalers for sharing this gem!

Convenient location to pick up lunch, down the street from my work. I tried calling once but they told me they don’t take phone orders anymore. Service is fast, food is usually ready within 5 minutes of ordering. Friendly customer service, I think the owner walks around and asks customers if they are satisfied as well. Basic menu.

One of my favorite fast food joints. Small but tasty menu — and always prepared well. I like the chicken sliders but the steak and chicken plates are good too. The sliders come with the salad/coleslaw on them, instead of on the side, like the plates. Great combination of textures and flavors mixing sweet and savory perfectly. I almost always get the passion fruit iced tea too — so refreshing and delicious. This place is a real gem and a big victory for San Diego’s local food scene.

Great example of a business playing to its strengths. It doesn’t have much on the menu but what it does have, is perfect! Teriyaki Chicken, Teriyaki Steak, a combo of both and my personal favorite, Don Burri. Each is served with your choice of either brown or white rice with a cabbage salad with a delightful light dressing. I generally don’t care for cabbage salad but in this case, it really works. The Don Burri consists of small tender pieces of Chicken that have been simmering in Teriyaki sauce for hours resulting in tasty chicken that melts in your mouth. Quick, easy and oh so good. Try it out and enjoy!

I was in the neighborhood car shopping one evening when suddenly I realized that I forgot to eat. When this happens I sprint to carb country; this time was no different. Teriyaki chicken and rice sounded delicious, but I wanted something a bit more authentic then the commercialized San Sai. Thankfully, Unilocal reviews led me here — and I am SO glad! For $ 8 and change I walked out with a hefty portion of steak and chicken, rice and coleslaw. An excellent value. The steak and rice were delicious… with the sauce of course. I’m not sure the food would’ve tasted quite as good absent the sauce. In fact, I’ll be sure to buy a bottle to take home when I return. I’m quite sure I’ll become a regular, so I might as well get prepared. I do wish they’d revamp the coleslaw; it’s very bland and dry; needs a creamy consistency IMHO. Otherwise, why not just go for a basic garden salad(lightly dressed) or steamed veggies? The service was excellent. I was immediately greeted, given as any sauces as I wanted and served in less than 3 minutes flat. Now that’s what I’m talking about!
