Great tasting ice cream and yogurt instantly frozen with liquid nitrogen, with friendly people behind the counter who are happy to explain the man choices in flavors and toppings. It’s not exactly cheap, but the ice cream is really tasty.

The icecream is great but the overall experience was what mattered! Such a fun place to take little ones!!! My 3 year old loved it! Tip: grab dinner at Board and Brew first for a discount off your icecream!

Husband got the peanut butter one of the specialty menu which was yummy! I got the mocha madness with yogurt. The yogurt comes out a little Icey and flakey. Next time I’ll go with the cream. I like that all come with waffle cone. Fun to watch.

Fun experience for kids and adults to watch their ice cream being created. The ice cream is just ice cream and varies greatly based on your picks. 3 out of 4 of our group enjoyed their concoctions — fudge with almonds; peppermint, fudge, oreos with hot fudge; Dr. Pepper, cherry, vanilla. My dad had a key lime creation and was disappointed because it lacked the tartness that you associate with key lime.

We came here after visiting the sandwich place next door. Overall it was a cool experience but it was kinda steep for 2 bowls of ice cream($ 13 total). I got the Small sized Mocha madness ice cream and he ordered the Regular sized Birthday cake flavor in Custard. We liked our desserts but will prolly never come back because of the outrageous prices. Or if we do, we’ll share something.

Mixing science & ice cream! Nerds heaven. Want to know how it’s made? Emily will tell you, she will also remember you when you return and ask how your day was. The ice cream is so good! Magnetic mint is always a good choice. The rewards program is a must! There is something for everyone. Build your own or choose from one of their sensations! To the owner, Emily is a great asset to your team. She is friendly, knowledgeable and super outgoing! Give her kudos!

Three of us. Thought it was ok. I would try something else next time. I could see getting a favorite flavor & enjoying it. Interesting to watch make it. It’s a slow processes. Not a quick scoop and gone kind of place.

The stars here are basically for the employees that work here. They’ve got the best customer service and do truly show that they are interested in the customers day… Now, this place is known for their ice cream. Made with liquid nitrogen, the ice cream is made with cream and fresh ingredients right in front of you. The only down side is their inconsistence. I told the people that I wanted my ice cream in a bowl with no waffle cone and somehow still got my waffle cone. My two friends and I all got smalls and literally all of our ice cream equalled different number of scoops. I was so upset because my friend had treated me to the ice cream and it was so disappointing. The price is really high for two simple small ice creams made from this place. In the end, I would just say, head over to Baskin Robbins.

Sub Zero is one of many franchises around the nation taking a concept of hyper-chilling your dairy concoction with liquid nitrogen, but making an experience out of it. Like most ice cream/froyo shops, overhead is low, staffing is efficient, so costs are low. Their prices fail to reflect this, and it will easily set you back a minimum $ 5 per person. I was pleased with their selection of product(a traditional dairy and a custard — I think) along with toppings. They have several pre-selected combinations to choose from, along with make-your-own combos. Personally, I’m terrible af at selecting combos — I usually just select everything and it’s an overload of candies, chocolates, cookie crumbles, and a f*ckton of sprinkles, so the blueberry muffin combo was a pleasant change from my usual froyo smörgåsbord. Only 3 stars because it lacked any one thing that stands above other liquid nitrogen stores. Pretty run of the mill.

The concept of this place is similar to Coldstone in that they make the ice cream mixtures from your choices, right in front of you. The difference is that they actually make the Ice Cream, too. They start with milk and then use nitrogen to freeze it right in front of you. I will try the«tart» next time, because I tried to get something akin to a sorbet last time, and it was not good. They base is dairy, so I am guessing anything labeled«tart» will be using a different base. The staff is definitely helpful with explaining things, I think I didn’t make it clear as to what I was after. I ended up with milky/fruity ice cream in flavor. BF got a peanut butter and chocolate concoction, and it was delicious. He always has his made into a shake, rather than just eating it with a spoon. Yum. We will be back!

Desert of the Nitrogen Kind! Located along Carlsbad Blvd, tucked away in a small car park next to Board & Brew pub. Sub Zero has a small indoor table area with two and four seating arrangements. Your able to grab high chairs for the little ones as well. Now this isn’t your regular Ice-cream or yoghurt place. When ordering you can Choose from small medium or large. Then choose either Ice Cream or Yoghurt, then they will place a liquid into a large metal mixing bowl, throw in some mixtures then Boom! Mix it over the nitrogen to freeze your freshly made desert. It’s really an interesting experience and one ice never seen before. Personally I tried out the yoghurt, it was very rich in flavor and everything blended well. The claim by Sub Zero is they can make over a Trillion combinations of flavors. The only knock is due to the way they serve, the lines can get pretty crazy, so make sure you have patience it will be worth it! Overall Food: 5 – 5 Service: 3 – 5 Cleanliness: 4 – 5 Coming back: Yes

Surprise! They make the ice cream right in front of you! No lie, they do but not the old fashioned way of churning the milk. With a bit of liquid Nitrogen they freeze the ice cream right before your eyes! I can’t help it but I love novelty stuff like this! It was completely unexpected since I didn’t know that they would freeze the ice cream like magic right in front of me. You can choose which type of ice cream you would like, from low fat to super creamy custard. They pour the liquid in a bowl… and move it down the line. Similar to other cold stone– mix in your toppings places. The pricing is comparable to other ice cream places. There is a TV playing that shows facts about nitrogen and food, so you can pass this ice cream experience off as being a tad educational at the same time that you are indulging yourself in a sweet treat. If you happen to have stopped by next door and had a sandwich at Board and Brew, with your receipt you get $ 1 off at SubZero.

This place is pretty cool, quite chilling and down right elemental. Talk about a twist on ice cream. Walking in, I thought it was jus a regular ice cream shop. To my surprise they put a whole new twist to the ice cream game. You can choose full fat, custard, low fat, and even alternative milk like almond and I believe coconut. Then pick your toppings or choose from or the already mixed concoctions. They put it all in a bowl and turn on the liquid nitrogen, quickly mixing all the ingredients until whalah! You got cold delicious ice cream. Pretty neat ice cream treat! Would definitely try again if in the neighborhood.

VEGANS, NON-VEGANS and ice-cream monsters unite! With offerings of regular dairy, custard, coconut milk, and almond milk ice cream you don’t have to worry about bringing a large party of people here, regardless of dietary restrictions. Vegan ice cream is tough to come by in North County! HOWIT’S ÜBERCOOL: Sub Zero is different. You have a ridiculous amount of options with regards to flavor, choice of «milk» and toppings. The really COOL part is that you get to watch them turn your choices into a frosty treat with liquid nitrogen. Über cool guys, love it! Great for all ages!
