Wow, what a great place! The Pizza was amazing! The crust is as good as I have ever had and the Caesar salad had great flavor. We were also received great service by happy people, we are coming back for sure!!!

Came to Roosevelt and walked right in. What a pleasant surprise next to the crowded and loud pizza port. Excellent service, great mango arugula salad and excellent pizza! And great wine! Roosevelt pizza was amazing!

We were greeted as soon as we came in the door even though the restaurant was busy. Lasagna was spot on and both salads we had were fresh and well portioned. Love watching the pizza’s being made. Can’t wait to go back.

Not open for lunch? I’ll never see it! I’ve known the former owners for 20 years, sad to see them sell it off! Any business that is only open for 4 hrs. a day is not serious about being successful? I used to eat here 2, 3 times a week, but these guy’s are apparently to cool for me? Open for lunch! Let’s see what you got! Larry and Maria will be missed! Oh, and Luigi ! lol

My first impression will likely be my last impression. Ordered a Margherita pizza and the beet salad. Beet salad is quite delicious, good size and beautifully done. The pizza was definitely lacking and the strangest pie I EVER had the pleasure of eating. There is only one size and they are making a KILLING on these pizzas. I bet there wasn’t a ½ cup of sauce on the entire pie, yet the crust was soggy/saggy. I’d be surprised if there were 3T. of cheese. This was a SUPERDUPER thin crust pizza and not in a good way. Anyone on a diet would LOVE this pizza because each slice is only about 3 bites.(not including the outer part of the crust that many people do not eat because there is no topping) I kid you not. I actually counted. There was 6 slices and 4 of them were gone in 3 bites flat. One pizza is barely enough for 1 person so if you order plan on one pizza per person. On a positive note, the pizza was quite tasty. I would come back if the crust was thicker by 2 or 3 X.(it would still be a thin crust) I was hoping that this place might have bought the previous owners recipes but sadly they did not. Oh well off to find me a new pizza joint. Ta…

In an area that is generally devoid of delicious, well made food at a reasonable price, Roosevelt is refreshing. Low key interior, friendly and very prompt service and so much more than a pizzeria. We had asparagus with pancetta and the beet salad. Both were outstanding. Asparagus was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned with lemon and pepper. The beet salad was loaded with beets and seemed to be soaked in citrus juices. Very refreshing and generous size. For mains we got a meatball calzone and the mushroom gnocchi. While you would think these dishes would be heavy, they nailed both keeping them flavorful but not rich. While we were full when we finished we weren’t gorged and bursting. Which is a complement in comparisons to most American Italian restaurants. Very please to have this spot nearby. Will definitely return.

I love finding new local spots in the heart of cbad. The food is awesome and the service is great. Love the owners too! The menu caters to all ages from the eggplant PARM to the meatballs and pizza, everything tastes and looks amazing. Yum! I’ve been back several times since my initial review and I cannot get enough of this place! The last two times my visits have been exceptional due to the service Emily provided my family and I. This is a new favorite spot in downtown.

One of the worst pizza experiences I’ve ever had. The pizza was ultra soggy and lacked flavor. We ordered the margarita and the special for the night which had chicken and a white sauce which I typically love… not this time. The Caesar salad was decent if you don’t mind your romaine lettuce being all yellow. I despise having to give poor ratings to restaurants in the village but I have to warn Unilocalers about this place.

Wow. What a find. Amazing homemade food and quiet cool spot. Owner worked and chatted with me my entire meal. Fresh made lemonade. Awesome beers and just really great food at reasonable prices. I had fettuccine with meatballs topped with 2 fried eggs. All was a wonder experience and taste. The meatballs by far were the best, sauce and pasta was fantastic as well. Finished off with bread pudding with bourbon kick! Service was ideal, friendly but gave you space. Kind and caring family spot not to be missed. Flowers on table were nice touch ;) So glad I stopped in. And will be back next trip to Carlsbad.

Unilocal, you let us down this time. Pizza, B– OK flavored, but pretty skimpy toppings. Pastas, D. Not much flavor. WAY too salty. Gnocchi was tough. I think there are better choices out there. Only plus was Maggie, our server. Sweetheart.

Haven’t been back since the prior owner at the location ran the NY Pizzeria into the ground. What a nice surprise. I went in for a pie to go and left with a pie and some lasagna. The pie was artisan style(the 4 cheese pie) with great crust, sauce, and cheese. I had the lasagna the next day and it too was delicious. The lasagna was light, with thin noodles and a tasty sauce and cheese. I’ll be back. Nice to have a quality establishment back in that location again.

i write this with a heavy heart. i really wanted to like this place. i really expected to like this place. i just didn’t. dinner got off to a good start. the beer was cold. the CAESARSALAD was huge and pretty good — nice and garlicky but a little light on the parmesan. there were only a couple of croutons and missed the acidic bite of lemon and the briny, musky notes from anchovies. oddest of all was that there was no salt, pepper, chili flakes or grated parm on the table to adjust the seasonings. after that things went seriously downhill. the EGGPLANTPARM and FENNELSAUSAGEPIZZA were barely okay. pizza was NEAPOLITAN style — just can’t get used to a limp crust. i know it’s traditional to eat pizza in ITALY with a knife and fork but i’m not a fan. i’ve never compared a restaurant to any other restaurant in a review but while we were eating, i couldn’t help thinking ROOSEVELTPIZZERIA just wasn’t as good as all the nearby folks who share their niche. most disappointing was the kid’s MEATBALLCALZONE. in previous reviews(PRIVATEERCOALFIREPIZZA) i’ve chided un-evolved philistines who still think a bit of char doesn’t add a nice, smoky, slightly caramelized taste to a slice of pizza. but the outside of their calzone wasn’t slightly caramelized — it was burned to a crisp. for comparison’s sake, look at the photo for ROOSEVELTPIZZERIA(below) and then look at the photo from nearby SPIRITO’s : . even without that serious misstep, the place did’t really measure up. their red gravy just didn’t have the depth of flavor a cooked-all-day sauce should have. all-in-all, a pretty disappointing visit.

Best pizza in town and for many miles! Neapolitan influenced crispy pies, delicious salads, apps, and deserts.

Love the marinated baby beets! A must have if you love veggies! The waitress was awesome! Friendly! Great smile! Lisa, thank you! The meatball calzone was incredible! We thought we were going home with a doggie bag, but instead we are going home empty handed because we ate it all!

This place is terrible. Grossly overpriced paper thin pizza with a hipster attitude. Won’t be going back. This used to be a cool, authentic New York style pizza place. Now it is a typical designer pizza place. Spent $ 40 on two tiny pizzas that the toppings kept sliding off of. They don’t even put cheese on the entire pizza, just in spaced-out little mounds. When I say the pizza is paper thin, I mean it, literally 1⁄8 or less than an inch thick. I thought Paradise pizza was overpriced, but this place takes the cake. Do yourself a favor and go to Knockout Pizza and get a real pie, and a better deal.

Great people, great food. Normally I’m the one to read reviews and not actually post a review but hands down 100% better than I expected. Fennel Sausage Pizza was killer so flavorful worth every buck. Went back the next day just to try something new and the Meatball Calzone was out of this world! Good job guys! I will defiantly be back
