It was Saturday evening and we were looking for a place that would deliver in Carlsbad area. Saw sushi and thought we would give it a try. Really glad we did! Got a few rolls and the edamame delivered. Really surprised how good delivered sushi ended up being. The person on the phone was very helpful and made some recommendations that were great. Have to mention how good the edamame sauce was too!

Great Happy Hour prices! The sushi is delicious and so worth it. It’s a small little business, but cozy and the employees are friendly and greet everyone with a smile. Check it out! And they deliver!

Yummy food, reasonably priced, and great music!!! We were on a budget tonight so we opted for the great value regular rolls… they were great. Wasabi is epic as well.

Came in to try this place for the first time and extremely disappointed. Imitation crab throughout and expensive for quality of food. Unfortunately wont be coming back. Friendly staff though.

Overpriced. Obnoxious. East Coast attitude, noisy, tattooed, nosy bar staff in your face. Stopped going years ago. Philadelphia if you don’t like our fish go fuck yourself attitude.

I’ve ordered sushi delivery from this place a dozen times or so and it always arrives super fresh and tasty. HOWEVER, a few months ago they suddenly took their menu off the website. After asking about it, I was told the owner took it down and doesn’t want to put it back up. What kind of delivery place won’t post their menu on the web?!? Luckily, I discovered that will deliver Tomoyama and they even have a menu you can choose from! Imagine that.

Love this place great food and such great service! The prices are amazing. If your in the mood for something a bit heavier they have a really good Chicken Teriyaki bowl. The bowl has enough that you could split it in half and save for later.

I called tonight to place a delivery order. John told me that we are out of their service range and they don’t deliver here, We live just up the street in La Costa Oaks which is about 3 miles from Rock & Roll Sushi We live in the same house since we’ve been ordering from them 2 years ago. They’ve delivered to our home at least 6 times. Our neighbors have also had deliveries in our neighborhood. I told John I’d like to speak to the owner or the manager. He was very rude and said this is a small place and they have no manager. They even had my address on file and can see hat we’ve ordered from them many times in the past but he still would not deliver to us. Furthermore, In the past when we’ve ordered some of the sushi has been borderline edible. The Ahi was very fishy and tasted like it was bad. Also the salmon was very very fishy. The fish does not taste fresh at all. The sushi: California rolls and their cold sushi also came to us very warm. It was pretty disgusting. I decided to give it another chance only because they deliver and I’m a very busy mother of 3 young children, I would never go there to eat or even pick it up. There are so many sushi places in North San Diego that serve great quality fish with no attitude, John was extremely rude! This is NOT the first time they have been rude before either. About 6 months ago we called to complain about the sushi being inedible and very fishy and they did not offer to refund the money or replace the sushi. They did not care in the least about making it right I would obviously NEVER give them any business in the future, I am warning whomever reads this NOT to give them any business. It’s not worth the risk of eating some bad raw fish. On top of that, they do not care about earning or keeping your business! John is a complete asshole. Thank you taking the time to read this and heed the warning!

Great sushi! Love the ninja roll. This is a sushi joint the non sushi dishes don’t shine. The han liquor cocktails were tasty I really like the lightning bolt !

Super bummed… I crave sushi… LOVELOVELOVEIT. We find sushi places wherever we go when traveling and eat sushi when home at least 3x per week!(wish I would have read Unilocal reviews for this place prior!) I got real crab California rolls, cucumber salad, and miso soup. Did not want anything too heavy… Ca Rolls were seriously bland… and dry! SODISAPPOINTED! I added a ton of ginger to get trough eating what I could. my tummy is feeling off now… could be psychological? Miso Soup was okay… temp was good. Cucumber salad was okay… I will say the man who took my order was really nice… friendly, warm and a great asset to the business. End result: I threw away the rest of my sushi and have never done that before!

I usually get the Avocado Roll, which is pretty good. Tried some other items and they are decent as well.

Will never go back. Watched the guy in the back prior to making my roll, use his cell phone and was texting away. When he was done he made my roll without washing his hands. Disgusting. Enjoy!

This is my final review on this place– I am done with Rock N Roll Sushi! Never again will I come to this establishment. The last few times I have tried to come here, it really smells bad inside. One time it smelled like sewer water and we had to leave. The following time it smelled so strong of fish(which means it is not fresh). The owner or chef(or maybe that is the same person?) is obsessed with keeping the door open and has no mind for the customers. Sometimes it is cold! Lastly, last night I arrived at 9:03pm not knowing when the closed– the open sign was on, the door was wide open, there were people inside. then they turned us away. Get it together!!!

I love this place! I work nearby and often stop in for lunch. They are very friendly here, and it’s quick enough for me to be back to work within my hour lunch break. The salmon sashimi is ALWAYS on point! Super fresh and perfect flavor. I love their mixed tempura as well, nice blend of veggies. The Crunchy and Sunset rolls are great. Try the Lo-carb roll if you want to avoid white rice, it’s really good too! If you want somewhere to relax and have great food, this is the place!

Came here for a quick sushi lunch. We arrived after the lunch crowd, so it was just us and one other table. I ordered the hand roll combo, which includes three hand rolls of your choice. All three were good, though the Triple roll was wrapped a bit loose and bits of fish would fall out when I would dip in the soy sauce. I also got the eel roll and the baked seafood roll. To add some veggies to the mix, I got a green salad, which was a very large salad with ginger dressing – yum. Service was friendly, but the waitress did not have good attention to detail. For example, when we were seated, she asked if we wanted edamame and we said yes, but then they never came until we asked for them. My friend ordered the combo and wanted to add a side of a second set of nigiri. Even though she told the waitress three times that she wanted a second set of the same nigiri that came with the combo, she was brought a different one. Good local place… not the best of the casual local sushi joints ever, but good enough that I’d return if I was in the neighborhood.

We’ve dined here many times and have gotten great service and food each time. Whether eating in or ordering something togo or for delivery, it’s all good. They used to have free delivery, but now have both a minimum and $ 3.50 delivery charge. Some of my favorite specialty rolls here are the sunset roll, monkey roll and puerto Nuevo roll. They also have chicken or beef teriyaki for the non-sushi lovers out there. They have a happy hour«chefs special» that is deep fried and really good! If you’re in the mood for fresh and not too expensive sushi, check out Rock n Roll sushi. Keep on Unilocal’n!

This place was not very easy to find. We drove right past it at first, their signage is not awesome. First clue this wasn’t going to be good — there are two middle aged white guys behind the sushi counter. They were blasting classic rock. I felt like it was my dad’s kitchen. My dad has no idea about sushi. I like the orange paint on the walls. Otherwise, the inside of this place isn’t much. The appetizer prices were cheap, I had some edamame(pretty safe choice) and a cucumber salad. The salad was flavorless and they cut out the centers of the cucumbers — whats up with that? I don’t recall the name of the roll I ordered, but it included unagi and spicy tuna. Which I could hardly taste because it was drowned in sauce. Boo. My boyfriend had the baked Alaska roll.(I will keep my judgements about cheese on sushi to myself ;) I tried it, and it was bland and unexciting. The service was friendly and quick. But it’s not enough to get me to come back. Not even for delivery.

BOTTOMLINE: Only order«safe» foods like chicken teriyaki, crunch rolls, etc. Only do it if you’re lazy and need delivery. Avoid anything else. So I am basing my review for what this place offers for the area. It is definitely NOT based on the San Diego area or even North County. I’m not even going to bother mentioning sushi rice quality like I usually do. Based on San Diego, I’d give it a 1 star. But, it’s the only place I know of that will deliver sushi to me. I get a lot of lazy sushi cravings. Delivery bumped it to a 2 star. Ordered delivery. There’s a $ 25 minimum order(even though online it said it was a $ 20 minimum for dinner. LIES!), 4 mile radius maximum, and $ 3.50 delivery fee. The guy who took my order was courteous and thorough. Made sure there where the apartment was and if there was gate access. Even warned me that it would take closer to an hour to get here. He estimated accurately. Ordered: Hand Roll special(3 different hand rolls): not rolled well in general. –salmon skin hand roll: was very fishy(not a good sign), not crispy, poorly rolled so that it had fallen apart by the time it got to me. Maybe it was the delivery girl, but the other 2 held up a bit better. It was so bad, I didn’t even want to give it to my cat. It just tasted funny. –chopped tuna hand roll: lots of tuna, was falling apart while I was eating, which is common so at least it had plenty of fish. Wasn’t horribly good, but not bad. –eel hand roll: tasty. Not over cooked like some places. Super Albacore roll: Albacore was really fish. Nor normal tasting. I gave a little bit to my cat. He liked it. I pulled most of it off. The shrimp tempura inside was very good. It was supposed to have ponzu sauce, but I could not taste it ATALL. That sauce can save anything! big mistake on skimping. Chicken Teriyaki Bowl: was decently good, but they put ginger in the sauce. Some people like it, but it was too strong for it to taste traditional for me. Total: $ 34. Expensive for what I got and for a restaurant that says their mission statement is cheaper good sushi. It made me sad. OR the actual food had downer chemicals in it. Either way…
