Beer, beer and more beer. They have a different selection of beers on tap than the Pizza Port bar and a whole lotta bottled beers from just about everywhere. The bottle shop is an extension of the Pizza port restaurant. You can order food and bring it over. Theres a «shop» with coolers from beers around the world the open up to a back dirt patio with beers on tap and DOGSAREALLOWED!

The BBQ chicken pizza is amazing! I had a Berry Burst Cider… dangerous! I could drink lots of these. The atmosphere is fun and they have excellent and quick service.

They have an awesome variety of beer, perfect if you wanna grab a good beer to take home with your pizza. I just wish they opened a little earlier.

Have stopped by here probably 40+ times. Pizza Port’s only bottle shop is adjacent to their Carlsbad brewpub location. Different opening hours though from the brewpub. Inside, the store is very small, but 100% of the selection is refrigerated– a big plus. With that said, a lot of the imported Belgian bottles are quite old. They also don’t get special releases here believe it or not. Compare this bottle shop to Texas Wine and Liquor two blocks away. Texas Liquor is on Instagram and posts all of their newest arrivals. Their beer buyer gets cases of every new special beer coming out in our distribution area. Pizza Port does not… I don’t know why… but they don’t. Therefore, as a resident beer geek, Pizza Port Bottle Shop offers me essentially nothing of interest and I have stopped coming in sadly.

Great environment, Craig is awesome and any beer you can imagine for an awesome rate. Always a go to place for a good daytime beer.

Pizza Port’s Bottle Shop is a pretty good bottle shop. Maybe not the best I’ve ever seen, in terms of selection & prices, but better than a lot I’ve been to. Based on that alone, I’d go with 4 stars. For my overall rating of this place, however, there’s a plus & a minus. The limited business hours here are definitely a minus. I’ve stopped by here on the way through town only to find they’re closed. But their location is a definite plus. Hey, it’s right next to Pizza Port. Even if they are closed, you can go next door & have a consolation beer. & on weekends, when they’re open more hours, You can still have that beer next door & then grab bottles here on the way out. So, I suppose, overall, that’s still about 4 stars. So, I suppose, overall, I’m a fan of Pizza Port’s Bottle Shop. It’s been nice to grab some bottles here when I happen to be able to stop while they’re open.

I really want to love this bottle shop but the service simply lacks. I understand the beer culture out here and if you have visited Port or many of the other craft beer places around you will know what I am talking about. There is an uncomfortable elitism surrounding craft beer and it makes for a less than comfortable experience in many places. Every time I have been to the bottle shop I have been all but ignored by the staff and never offered any kind of assistance. The employees know their beer but they really need to learn more about good hospitality. I give them two stars because the selection and prices are good but until they can actually provide good service I will not go back.

Just like Pizza Port, this is another gem. You want a rare beer? Want some micro brew that’s nearly impossible to find? Want to try something new? The bottle shop has you covered on all these fronts! Since Carlsbad is a bit of a haul from Los Angeles, I always make sure I have a cooler I can load up whenever I pass through!

What’s not to love about hanging out at a place with over 100 beers to choose from at a good price? So this place is located right next to the Pizza Port in downtown Carlsbad. You can get there straight from the restaurant. You will find a few high top tables and a set up for a washers game. Inside the little«tasting room» you will find several coolers with so many beer options, it will make your head hurt. They offer eveything from ciders, to stouts, german beers, and everything in between. And don’t be afraid to ask for recommendations. I asked for a good Scotch Ale. He recommended a few but gave his honest option and said the $ 3/$ 4 one was better than the $ 10 one. I appreciated that and he was right! Really good. It’s a great place to stop during an afternoon stroll or after the beach or after dinner. We did ours after a late brunch. I can’t wait to come back and try more. The best part of this place is they don’t over-charge you. You can get a beer basically at cost– I.e. the 6 pack of it costs $ 15 so they charge $ 3 or $ 3.5 per beer, just a little over what the actual cost of it is. They don’t try and scam you for money.

I have nothing bad to say about the bottle shop. Every time I visit, the staff are genuinely friendly and helpful with selections. I am always impressed with the range of beer and with the fact that they keep updated with new shipments. Can’t go wrong stopping here, and it always compliments a Pizza Port stop, or even a separate trip on its own.

Good selection and knowledgeable staff, as expected. Was hoping for some Alpine bottles but they unfortunately had none. However they have wide selection of all the SD staples: Stone, Ballast, Port etc and also newer offerings such as Aztec, Latitude 33, Mother Earth, Archer… Highly recommended for über-beer nerds looking for more than available at the local BevMO. If you’re into hops and IPAs this bottle shop beats fabled Hi-TIme Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa by far IMHO… Not to mention 7 house IPAs on tap next door at PP Carlsbad. If in San Diego area this store will from now on be an essential part of my beer itinerary.

Solid bottle shop with a pretty impressive collection. I didn’t get to spend much time here but was able to grab a Fred and seasonal from New Belgium. Keep in mind that this place opens at 5PM, much later than its sibling Pizza Port.

Excellent craft beer selection, as you’d expect. Just as my luck dictates, they didn’t have any Russian River in stock when I visited. That’s perfectly fine though. There were plenty of other beers I had never heard about. I used the attendant’s recommendations paired with my trusty Untappd mobile app to pick a few bottles. We walked away spending $ 70 for beer and a couple of Pizza Port Bottle Shop snifter glasses. Way too much? Probably. Worth it? Definitely.

You enter the Bottle Shop from either the alley and through the large gate which opens up into a yard area with big bags of malt delivery’s and a patio area with a tent where they sell beers for consumption. You can also enter from the side entrance from Pizza Port restaurant. Off to the side of that area is the entrance to the Bottle Shop. There are about 8 – 9 large commercial sized glass-doored fridges with various bottles of craft beers. Everything from Lambics, Saisons, Belgians, IPA’s, Stouts, Porters, Lagers, etc. Lots to choose from and the nice thing is they also offer 12 ounce bottles in addition to the 22 oz. bombers or the 750 ml corked bottle style. I found some unique and hard to find beers here so it’s nice they stock a vast variety of beers for all palates. If you purchase a beer from the BOTTLESHOP, you must take it «to-go». It cannot be consumed in the patio area. That’s what the«tented» area is for wherein you can purchase select beer from the person at the register/bar area. I like that it’s right next to the main restaurant(Pizza Port) and you can take a couple of bottle«to-go» for home imbibement.

When I am at the bottle shop I feel like a kid in a candy shop. I love looking at all of the beers and I always come out with a few goodies. This is where I go to buy hard-to-find beer and to pick up something I haven’t tried before. The staff is friendly and its a fun spot to enjoy a brew. I am sorry to hear that the liquor license is changing because who wants to just«grab and go?» Like a kid with candy, I just can’t wait until I get home to enjoy those delicious craft beers.

I love Pizza Port. The drafts you can get at Pizza Port, brewed by Pizza Port, are fantastic. I also love bottleshops like Bottlecraft. But after being a veritable regular at Bottlecraft in Little Italy, it takes a lot to measure up in a comparison with that market leader in beer bottle sales. Unfortunately for me(given the Pizza Port Bottle Shop’s closer proximity to my house), the Bottle Shop doesn’t measure up. They do have a very decent selection of beers, including a good variety of Belgians and local brews. They also have a decent patio out back with some makeshift tables/barrels, but due to some liquor laws, have to cut off serving beers on premises a little early(certainly earlier than Bottlecraft) which puts the Bottle Shop more into day drinking territory. For the money, I’d rather just step next door and drink at the Pizza Port bar and off the draught. I like the availability of beers, but something about the Bottle Shop just feels lacking to me.

I love the bottle shop. They’ve got an array of craft beers that you can’t get at just any liquor store. I love that you can purchase it, then have a drink in the back. Beers are amazing and well priced as well. I’ve read in other reviews that you won’t be able to drink in the back anymore starting next month. I hope the rumors aren’t true. If so, that will be sad to see it go.

SAVETHEBOTTLESHOP. In December of 2012, the Pizza Port Bottle Shop will be changing. You’ll no longer be able to enjoy a beer with your friends in the shop. Everything will be «to go» only. So, so sad. Specialty liqueur stores are just fine. But the Bottle Shop is much much more than that. It’s a place where friends meet up after work. It’s a place where hipsters go to get their Pliny fix. It’s a place where homebrewers go to discuss and research. It’s a place to bring a date, a place to bring your dog, a place to chill and try some of the world’s best beers. I love Pizza Port. It’s loud, crowded, and it’s family friendly. The food is great and the tap list is wonderful. But in the little room down the sidewalk, it’s a different world of beer tasting. Grab a tulip glass, pop the top, and learn something new about beer from the other people around you. Share a bottle with a stranger or split a few bottles among a group. Decide on what you like, and THEN get a bottle to go. In a month, that’s all over. It will be a bunch of refrigerators and a register. Call/write the Pizza Port owners! Vincent and Gina are the main proprietors.

So much beer, and the selection keeps changing. It would make any beer snob faint. They sneered when I asked if they had dogfish head. «no, not since that documentary came out… now everyone thinks it is so cool…» Regrettably, I had just finished watching the documentary haha. I was humbled and my fake beer snobbery was exposed. But no, this does not make it lose stars. If anything, I lost stars. The pizza port bottle shop is like that group of really cool kids at high school that you wish you could be, except they let you into the club and let you drink with them, even though you know that you’ll never quite be cool enough to really be their friend. But no, you didn’t come here for friendship. You came here for beer. And fine beers from all over the world you will find here :). So don’t cry, just savor the fact that you can get such amazing beers that many people can only dream of trying.

How can you not like this place? A HUGE beer selection, so try something new! Trust me, the guys running this place will find you a beer that fits your personal tastes round after round after round… Pizza Port Bottle Shop is a small room. It would be the 1BD studio of Bob & Doug McKenzie from Strange Brew where all the walls are refrigerated beer goodness from around the world! You’ll also see a few benches to post up, cash register and the back wall opens to an outside area for smokers and sunshine. 1 star upgrade because you can order food from pizza port… beer’s best friend! Side note, they have their own restroom, so you can relax here for awhile. I give this bottle shop 9 «If you have not seen Strange Brew check out the original movie clip below» out of 10.
