Hands down one of the best Sandwich shops around! It is family owned and they are soooo nice !! You can order online and schedule a pickup time. Same people there everyday. Every sandwich I have had has been great — they never disappoint!

I really really really like this sandwich place. I get lunch at least 3 times a week from here. They have daily specials that they serve from 11am until they run out. The Rockwell special they have once every two weeks is amazing. They have a 2 week schedule with the specials for each day. I suggest to call ahead to place your order specially during lunch time.

This place absolutely beat my expectations to the max. If I was a food critic I would write an entire article about this hole-in-the-wall spot. As soon as you walk in you get a feeling of; history and nostalgia, it’s a classic menu with their own twist. And then let’s not even talk about the specials they’ll knock your socks off! As the gentleman said behind the counter, you’ll «triple your money on the special» I was sold. A wonderful experience, just go check it out!

This place is amazing! It’s a little hole in the wall joint(very unassuming), but the sandwiches are delicious! I’m typically not a fan of roast beef, but went with the staff’s suggestion and devoured that sandwich! You get chips and a drink along with the sandwich, making this a great deal and a very filling lunch. There are some tables inside but I enjoyed sitting outside since the weather was perfect for it. The staff is kind, welcoming, fast and you can tell they truly care about delivering a great experience to each customer. I wish I didn’t live so far away, but when I’m ever in the area, I know what I’m having for lunch! Quick note: if you want the daily special, come early because they tend to sell out.

I work down the street and always come here. They have Gluten free bread options now which is perfect for me since I have an allergy. Always extra friendly. Pricing is good. 50 cents for GF is on the lower side. Most places charge an extra $ 1-$ 2. Haven’t had a single issue in over 20 visits. Well worth my time and money.

I’ve been coming here for over 15 years and just love it! Always fresh, never a bad sandwich, so good! I the Gambler and Full House but every other Friday they serve a pork loin sandwich that will bring you to tears. What is in that sauce??? So good!!!

I work across the street and come here almost everyday. Sometimes for breakfast and lunch. The food is great and the staff is super friendly and provide awesome service. It’s like going to a friends house for a quick bite to eat.

On A Roll is great! Within walking distance of my work. I find myself craving a sandwich and going there weekly. The employees are friendly. The main cashier has made the effort to remember my name, which shows me that I’m not just another customer. The sandwiches are delicious. The Californian is my favorite so far. You cant go wrong with Turkey, bacon, and avocado. There’s a nice balance of all the ingredients, nothing overpowering. You can order a full or half sandwich. If you have a short lunch or need your order to-go, I recommend calling your order in.

Outstanding people and food. A couple of tips: Order on-line — it works and they use it. If you don’t have dietary restrictions, get the special. They close at 2pm.

This place is so so so good. I just started working down the street and was looking for new places to eat. I’ve found it. Small shop located in the business park off Airport Road, look for the Coke umbrellas! The owners and staff are super friendly and patient. The Holiday Harvest sandwich is AMAZING, I eat every bite! They also have a daily special(Tri tip, roasted pork loin etc) that is pretty incredible but get there early because they sell out!

I’ve «checked in» here so many times before Unilocal ever existed, probably 300+ times since 2000. You will never run out of choices or friendly faces. My go to for years was the Earl’s Combo w/extra Italian dressing… the combo of the mayo and Italian make it a creamy ish dressing with salami, ham and provolone. The specials are often inspired and they throw new specials in with all of the specials the regulars love… I. e… The Rockwell, The Cuban and the sandwich I just had was tasty too… it was a pastrami and swiss on a pretzel roll with purple onion, dill pickle and honey mustard… I took some of the onion off but it was delicious! If you’re looking for the most classic, simple and amazing breakfast burrito… the potatoes in this burrito make me swell with tears of joy… throw on some tapatio and you’ve got the perfect breakfast!

I ate here for the first time yesterday and loved every minute of it. Their menu was very extensive I had such a hard time deciding what to eat so I went with the daily special, Italian sausage. It was very tasty, albeit a little messy. I actually ate the entire sandwich and enjoyed every bite.(I’ve only been eating half sandwiches lately.) Service was wonderful and completed with a smile. I’ll definitely be back.(Need to try some… or maybe all… of their other offerings.)

LOVE this place! I often recommend it when we have visitors in from out of town at work because they are so fresh and delicious. The daily specials are always amazing and their chicken salad is delicious.

Quick, fast, reasonably priced deli sandwiches. It’s not often I’m in the area here but when I am, I like to stop in and grab a sandwich from On a Roll. They are only open till 2:00pm, so I have to remember early to call the order in or come by before they close. Fresh sandwiches. My go to deli in East Carlsbad.

Closest food place near my work. I can clock out, call in, pick up, and be back at my desk within 10 – 15 minutes. So it’s very convenient. I love the people who work here! Very mom and poppish. I’ve ordered: — various sandwiches(BLT, tuna, Harvest, Honey Cluck Chick) — Garden Salads — Soups(my faves are the Crab Bisque and Roasted Pepper) This place is more expensive than Subway, but I would say it’s worth it.

Carlsbad club was very good. Almost had that«good ol how momma used to make it» taste about it. I came here expecting a generic sandwich and was impressed. I do recommend you ask for light mayo. Not sure what brand they used by its strong flavor. Music is just slightly above the ambiance which is ideal. I will be coming back here again very soon. Next to try the breakfast. If that rocks then I’ll bump to 4⁄5

I tried On A Roll as part of my recent exploration of Carlsbad office park delis. I’ve been twice now, with two good sandwiches under my belt, eh, so to speak… On my first visit I went for the Full House, with roast beef, turkey and bacon on squaw bread. As I’d read ahead of time on Unilocal, the squaw bread was awesome — soft and sweet and sandwich perfect. The Full House was a solid sandwich, and was very well executed. My only«beef» with the deli on this visit was that the dude behind the counter gave me grief for asking for a cup of water and saying no to chips. He tried to cover up the awkwardness with humor(«unlimited free refills on your water») but his annoyance led to my own. Easy with the hard sell. On my second visit my buddy had the Turkey Gyro and I had the High Roller with hot turkey, green chilis, horseradish and jack cheese on sourdough. I thought this sandwich, too, was great. Probably my fave so far. The horseradish and chilis really popped — the sandwich really worked. Made my day. The setting is very no frills, very utilitarian. There isn’t really too much to distingish On a Roll from other places, but the quality and service are both good. Best of all is that the menu has lots of options you wont really find elsewhere nearby, even though they aren’t all that crazy. Good place. I’d go here over the newer flashier places across Palomar Airport Road in Bressy Ranch.
