Encinitas Custom Upholstery

I needed to replace the convertible top on my Audi. I learned it would be a difficult job for anyone. I researched different companies and based on Unilocal reviews and speaking with the owner I decided to use Encinitas Upholstery. I made an appointment with Javier the owner for 9 am. As soon as I arrived he took my car and got started on it. It was ready the next day two hours before he promised. How often does any company perform this well? The new convertible top looks great! Javier gave me a price and it was right on — no last minute surprises. The girl at the front who took care of the paperwork was very pleasant and gets an «A» from me for customer service. It was a pleasure to deal with Encinitas Upholstery. Note, that they are actually in Carlsbad now.

Don’t use this business unless you don’t care on how long your job takes & a moody owner (Javier). I waited 3 months for one chair to be completed. I was promised over and over, week after week! Still he never worked on my chair. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 1 is I finally got my chair. He also inconvenienced me by not having his credit card machine available. He said he was changing companies??? I called the credit card company to ask why this might be and they said people who need cash right away might be the answer. For whatever reason, I might have not done my repair had I known I would have to shovel out hundreds of dollars! I will NEVER use them again. Visit the mess of a business and I’m sure you will go elsewhere. There are better and more professional business out there esp in our area!!!

I had these guys re-​upholster a Barcelona chair for me which I picked up today. Price was super reasonable; especially for a north county business and the end result is perfect. Chair looks awesome! They were super friendly too. A+

The did an excellent job on my motorcycle seat and with a very fare price. I will continue to use them again for any of my upholster needs.

Javier is a man of his word.

I had patio furniture that was torn along the seams and brought it into Javiar. They were able to repair in 2 days, and even replaced the zippers since they needed it. Pricing was fair, service excellent. Only thing is to call Javiars cell 7 609 087 718 which is not listed online or to drive shop and pull around to back garage if front door is locked before 4pm M-​Th and 3pm in Fri I believe. I had a left a few voicemails before learning this :) but very happy and highly recommend.

We inherited a high-​end couch from a friend of mine which was in good shape except that the seat cushions needed to be reworked as they had lost their firmness. We called Encinitas Upholstery. After giving us a free estimate, they came out and picked up the cushions also for free. Initially we decided we would just have three of the 5 seat cushions replaced as the other two were in relatively good shape. Encinitas Upholstery guaranteed that I would be happy with their work and if I was not, they would rework the cushions to my satisfaction. As it turns out we were so happy with their work that we decided to have the remaining 2 seat cushions redone as well as 4 other Bergere chair cushions done. They are apparently a second-​generation family business who prides themselves on customer service and quality work. I would recommend them and use them again.

They were standard factory grey fabric. I hate fabric so they had to go. The new white leather they hooked it up with look and feel so gangster. The stitching is tight and uniform. They smell so fresh.
I ended up just curbing the back seats cause I’m gonna put in a huge sub box that wouldn’t fit behind them. So now it’s a 4 door 2 seater… Lol!

They installed a new back window into my existing VW Beetle convertible top and did a very nice job. They were on time as well. The price was lower than other estimates.

These guys are great. I don’t understand what is up with the negative reviews. I have taken a number of pieces to them and they have done fine work, for a good price and they have been on time. Plus they are extremely friendly and helpful. If they lag on occasion it’s probably because they are busy AND good. If you want good upholstery work done at a good price these guys are excellent. Maybe you have to wait a little bit for it but it is worth the wait. There is another upholstery shop in the area that does great work on time but THEY ARE TWICE THE PRICE.

I took a small chair in to be reupholstered and was told it would be ready in 2 weeks. In a month, after several unanswered voice messages, I drove by on a weekday at 3 pm (thinking they would be there) and the neighboring business told me they had just left. I looked in the window and there was my chair, exactly where I had left it, untouched. I made several more calls and was finally able to pick up my chair (still untouched).
I have no idea if this company would do a good job or not, but I certainly wouldn’t leave any thing there that I didn’t need for a long time and I definitely wouldn’t believe them when they tell you when it is going to be ready.
My advice, find another company.
