I went in to buy some shot gun shell as a gift, to take my friend to the range for his birthday, I went in and the manager completely wasted my time she said that she had to check my id because there has been a lot of fake ids apparently then she went into the back for about 15 minutes and when she came back she said she wouldn’t be able sell me them to me because she didn’t feel comfortable with my id and the fact that she wasn’t able to tell that my id was real was really annoying and then that it took her 15 minutes to come out and tell me that was just unprofessional and a waste of my time I would not shop there again and intend to tell all of my friends to shop else where, and if a manager or the store owner reads this I would like you to know that she lost the sale of not only the bullets but also the shotgun and other rifles I was planning on buying in the near future.

This Big 5 has a much newer store compared to the one on Vista Way in Oceanside. The store appears much larger and better stocked.

Friendly staff that helped me and easy to find products at good price. I spoke with one staff member and received helpful recommendations on some fishing gear I was buying as a gift!

Great location — in the old Petco store near Sprouts by Stagecoach Park. Most items in stock– decent selection.
Friendly employees. But not so helpful. I asked a question about a particular item (I needed 3 of them) and the employee proceeded to state the obvious by reading to me the shelf stickers and sale signs. I purchased my items and there were missing pieces so I had to return again for an exchange (after calling ahead) and the replacements were not in stock when I returned. So the manager offered to order them for me.
So this is a good start– it’s still got bugs in customer service but seems workable!

San Marcos, CA
This new store is in a convenient location since it is on my way to the coast. One of things I like about these stores is that they are all laid out similarly. This one is no exception. The staff was friendly in welcoming me to their new store and were willing to walk with me to help me find what I wanted. I will be coming back.
