I’ve been going to Kara for about a year now and wow! My hair has never looked so full or so healthy.
She prefers to do more natural hair colors and is definitely not scissor happy like all my previous hairstylists. I have fine, thin hair and Kara recommended instead of layers which I’ve had my whole life, a blunt cut across the bottom to create to look of full hair. And wow did it work. I’ve gotten highlights from her and she’s helped even out all the odd colors I was getting from my previous hairstylist and now it looks natural and great!
She sells shampoo and conditioner, the brand I’ve fallen in love with is Framesi. It makes my hair silky and shiny and it’s reasonably priced.
The salon she’s in is rather unique, the owner sell paintings of a bunch of random things. The salon is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Carlsbad, and walking distance to the beach. There’s free parking across the street also.
All in all, I highly recommend Kara to anyone that wants great looking hair! Plus she offers a military discount, win win great hair at a great price!

I’m so happy I found Kara a few years ago! I’m always happy with the results and leave with some more pep in my step. I have never died my hair — highlights, lowlights, nothing. Until today. For months Kara has been telling me how pretty she thinks it would be if I got some face framing highlights. After seeing the results, I’m SO happy I finally gave in and listened to her. Who knew a measly 15 foils could do so much! I would recommend Kara to anyone and everyone!

I’m new to the area and was long overdue for a haircut. I found Kara on Unilocal and after reading countless good reviews, I decided to make an appointment with her. Let me just say, she is excellent! She listened to what I wanted, she was quick, and she did an amazing job! I LOVE my new haircut.
Kara’s prices are very fair. Some of the salons in Carlsbad are outrageous price-​wise.
Side note — I didn’t realize that you could donate 6 inches of hair (I thought it had to be 10+ inches for some reason). I’m glad she told me I could donate my hair. You get a 50% off discount on your haircut if you donate!
I am definitely coming back! In fact, I already scheduled my next appointment :)

Is it possible for a fresh haircut and highlights to inspire a person for greatness? Well, when Kara is your stylist that’s exactly what happens! I moved here from out-​of-​state and was nervous about finding a new stylist. Then I discovered Kara via Groupon. After reading her stellar reviews, I made an appointment. I am so glad I did! She listened to what I wanted and provided excellent service. The whole experience was wonderful, relaxing, yet invigorating. I feel ready for the next phase of my life to begin and although it may sound crazy… one’s hair is an important part of that! Thank you, Kara, and I will see you next month. :)

Looking for a hair stylist that actually LISTENS to what you want as well as adding suggestions if you are unsure? Look no further! Kara is the most attentive hair stylist I have ever had. I always leave feeling beautiful. I have extremely thick hair that can be hard to manage, but Kara knows how to work it. I also have trouble sitting for long periods of time while getting my hair done, but Kara is such a joy to be around that the time flies and I actually look forward to my appts. Always professional, always smiling, and always happy to help. Her prices are fair and she uses the best products around. If you want to look and feel beautiful, Kara is the one for you!

Kara is great she gives good suggestions for color and cut and I have never left disappointed. Ive been seeing her for 4 years and I drive 45 min to come here. Worth it!

Kara is a great stylist! She listens, provides honest feedback and is diligent in her approach to cutting hair. Every haircut and color of mine with her has been fabulous. I’ve also turned my daughter to her, and she’s a happy customer each time!

The best thing about being a repeat customer is that Kara has a chance to learn more about my hair and what it can handle. My first visit I was thrilled with my highlights but when I left the salon on Friday I felt like Jennifer Aniston. Thanks Kara, I really needed that pick me up, you listened and you really delivered… you’re simply the best!

Kara is ABSOLUTELY wonderful! My hairstylist is moving out of state, so I searched the area for someone in my price range, but still great. :-). I am so glad I found Kara! I booked appointments for my mom and myself, and we had not had our done for a very long time. Lots of growth to cover! Kara took so much time with us asking what colors we wanted and what cuts we would like. My mom’s hair came out beautiful. The gray was covered and it still looked totally natural. I was not sure what exactly I wanted, and Kara asked questions to help guide my decision. She explained the pros and cons of the colors I was contemplating, and was very patient and really listened to what I wanted! She even took the time to ask me what the long term goals were for my hair, as that would influence what type of color I should get.
I have an infant daughter and had pretty much figured a style that was cute was out of the cards as I have it up most of the time. Kara styled my hair so cute, but still practical for having a new little one that likes to grab it.
Kara was also as excited as I was to see how the color came out. I had made the mistake a year or so ago to dye my hair black. So, the color before I went to see her was this awful ash– orange shade. I left with a beautiful shade of blonde! Better than I thought it would turn out, and she is priced at a point I can actually afford to keep up with the coloring. :-)
I actually signed up for Unilocal specifically to rate her because I am so happy with the result. All I can say is go see her! I will be happily referring my friends to her.

Just got my hair cut by KARA, she was awesome and listened to everything I had to say and we were totally on the same page! My hair came out BEAUTIFUL & she kept it longer like i asked :) I will be back for a dye and glossing treatment soon, thank you! Love my hair!

Kara is super sweet and honest — and she’s not scissor happy! She even told me to please not tell her I wanted to cut all my hair off because I had beautiful hair. She listened to what I wanted and we all know that is rare. Her services are a little pricey (especially since I have to get childcare for two little ones too) but she often runs specials so give her a call and get a real good haircut from a real good person!

Kara is the BEST. I went to her initially after receiving a tragic haircut elsewhere, and she’s done a great job of fixing it. She actually listens to you, and she will give you her honest opinion (not just what you want to hear). Plus she’s a color/​highlight GENIUS. I can’t say enough good things about her. And she’s fun to chat with! A+! :)

Kara is great! She’s up front, she tells it how it is, won’t do something if she thinks you’ll regret it, which is particularly great for me haha, I’m pretty impulsive. I had my hair cut a couple weeks ago and just got full highlights yesterday, both turned out awesome :)The ONLY thing that could be improved is her call back time when you’re making an appointment, BUT that means she’s busy because people love her, so it’s manageable!

Kara is awesome! She listened to me when I explained what I wanted, she made some great suggestions and my haircut turned out perfect. I definitely plan to use Kara again.

Kara’s awesome. I have a LOT of hair, and she washed, dried, and straightened it for me one night before I went out, and it’s never felt nicer! I can’t wait to have her actually style or cut it for me sometime SOON! :-)

Kara is an AMAZING hair stylist! It’s a relief going to someone who actually takes the time to listen and gives great feedback. She’s extremely creative and trendy, does amazing color and haircuts, I always leave feeling happy with the results, not to mention receive many compliments on my new hair. She cares about the health of the hair as much as the style. She also does a great job with making you feel at home, super sweet person.
