RESERVERBEWARE! If I could give zero stars, I would! We reserved a room for First Night in Carlisle, thinking that it would be close to the festivities, all within walking distance, and no need to drive home! Their website said one room available, so we called and reserved it with a credit card. We arrived on New Year’s Eve and the female Desk Attendant said she was«trying to reach us», which was a complete lie. We had received no phone call on the cell number we had given them. She was hardly apologetic and said they«overbooked». This was another lie. She sold our room before we arrived. They could send us to the Sleep Inn a few miles down the road, which negated the purpose of having a room downtown! Not to mention that The Sleep Inn doesn’t have comparable rooms. In speaking with others, have come to understand that this is common practice!(Overbooking) Really?! How desperate can one business be? Poor, poor customer service! Poor way to conduct business!

The room was super clean. Everything looked like it was brand new, and it even had a pleasant«clean» scent. It was quiet and we all slept soundly through the night. Lucy was excellent, courteous and very helpful. For breakfast there was a larger than average number of choices. The eggs, potatoes, and sausage patties were a hit with our group, as were the make it yourself giant waffles.

Great hotel for what it is. A comfort Inn is not a five star hotel but with clean spacious rooms, pleasant service, ample parking and free breakfast, I could not ask for more for my $ 99. If you’re visiting Carlisle(which is a super cute town) this is a great place to stay!

The best thing going for Comfort Suites Downtown Carlisle is stated in its name. It is right in the heart of old Carlisle. If you haven’t taken the short detour off the Pa Turnpike to investigate this old burg, or just to try some good grub rather than the service plaza options, you owe it to those you love(including yourself) to make time to explore. It is an amazing little town, only about an a half hour on horseback from Gettysburg. If you were Generals Lee or Meade, that small distance could have been the difference between victory or defeat. Comfort Suites is situated just off the center of town, making it ideal for headquarters and bivouac while patrolling the narrow streets and back alleys of this attractive ville. It is slightly more expensive than some of the other possibilities closer to the highway, but from here you can walk anywhere you want to go. When the latest blast of Artic vortex began to plunder the roadways, discretion became the better part of valor as I decided this was my moment to find shelter and safety from the storm, and check out Carlisle in more depth. That they had their own garage behind the structure was a big plus. My king bed room was comfortable(as would be expected from the name). The bed allowed for a good night’s sleep, and the large HDTV kept me entertained. The bathroom was small and a clear concession to the budget image of this chain. Oddly, the furniture was too big for the room. When the desk chair was in place, it was almost impossible to get to the bed or window. Luckily, a detour was possible around the pull out sofa and coffee table. I did venture out at night, well bundled against the snowstorm rage, to find dinner. I had more than a dozen choices within a few blocks. The freeze was Zhivago-like, but the struggle to traverse the elements made the exceptional meal I had at The Back Door Café all the more worthwhile. Although not ideal in amenities, the location and the amiable staff made the night the stuff of legends. I look forward to another stay and memories.

I have been staying in a lot of hotels lately and for the price the rooms weren’t bad. The staff was very friendly and great with places they recommended. The hotel is in the middle of a tiny town, so there are a few cute places to walk to. The rooms were big, but the queen beds were more like full beds in size. They had multiple pillows on the bed, which were either soft or firm. I liked that they offered choices. There was free wifi, so it was easy to look up other places to go. My favorite part was the continental breakfast. There was a variety of breakfast options. The best part was that they had a waffle maker with two options regular and cinnamon waffle batter. Parking was $ 3.75 a night and the parking garage seemed much bigger than the hotel itself. This hotel is also lacking a pool. Also, I stayed here when Dickinson wasn’t in session, so it wasn’t that crowded.

Very clean. Nice hotel. Nicely decorated. We had a king/sleeper sofa room. Kids slept in the sleeper sofa, which had a very poor mattress. With the sofa bed pulled out there was very little room to maneuver in the room. Our friends had a room with two queens which also had a sofa, and I wish we would have done that. Parking is in a garage, but $ 4 a night on your room bill gives you all day in/out privileges. There was a wedding at the hotel the night we stayed there’s so it got a little loud at night but wasn’t too bad.
