Comfort Inn & Suites

As far as the wifi speed is concerned – a little choppy if you’re in your room streaming video (Netflix, YouTube), but definitely passable. You’ll have to re-​log in if you leave the hotel and come back, but that’s pretty minor. I got bumped from the network a few times, but that was when my roommate and I were both streaming videos from our laptops.

My husband and I used this hotel as our home base for an impromptu weekend exploring the Shawnee National Forest, Cache River State Natural Area, and Giant City state park. A little leery of the 2 star rating on other sites, we were pleasantly surprised — it’s a fresh, nicely appointed, very comfortable hotel I believe deserving of 3 — 3.5 stars. Comfort Inn has definitely stepped up its game.

Front desk made this location great. Treated us like royalty. Yes they need to replace the carpet but room was clean and bed very comfortable. This will be our go to when in area.

I usually stay at Comfort Suites in Marion, but was working 30 minutes west of where I’m normally stationed. I won’t be back to Carbondale Comfort Inn. Carpet throughout looks as though it’s never been cleaned. Hotel staff not very responsive. Despite daily requests, towels never supplied in exercise room and no paper towel or disinfectant to clean treadmill after workout. Disappointing.

The building was modern but the walls were PAPER THIN! It sounded like our upstairs neighbors had bricks on their feet. Our other guests experienced the same problem in a different room. Although Comfort Inn & Suites didn’t have bed bugs like some of the other hotels in the area, the experience was hardly any better. Will not return again unless I can secure a room on the top floor.

Normally, we would not have stayed here, however, every other hotel was full. The best part of this hotel is that it is newer. Because it is new, it’s very clean and up-​to-​date… In a few years, however, it will be just another motel. It was a little harder to find than some of the other hotels but it’s fine once you know where it is. Everyone there was nice and helpful.

I stayed one night at this hotel and was pretty impressed. After my last one star review of a Comfort Suites in San Jose, this would not have been my first choice, but a friend booked it and I’m glad she did. I think the hotel is relatively new, which helps a lot I’m sure, but everything seemed very clean and fresh. I didn’t deal with any of the staff, so I can’t comment on that but we were allowed to check in a little early.
We had a room with one king bed and a fold out couch that slept two. I did find it slightly odd that the bathroom only came with 2 towels, but whatever. It also had a mini fridge.
Breakfast is included and consisted of waffles, biscuits and gravy, toast, english muffins, pastries, cereal, and yogurt. If you’re passing through, this hotel is a-​ok.
