Around since the 90s, this is what every comic and games store should be. A great selection of current and back issue comics and graphic novels, games, miniatures and more! Definitely worth a visit if you like any of the above; plus the girls bathroom has some awesome décor!

There are only a few perfect places in the world. The Grand Canyon. The Shenandoah Valley. Castle Perilous Games and Books. Well-​trained staffers, great selection, and a location that is at once as appealing as Grandpa’s garage and as comfortable as a man-​cave. Don’t take that appellation to say it isn’t gender –friendly… I am just meaning a person can really stretch their imagination — and their budget — here. Games groups and novices, veterans and first-​timers can get exactly what they are looking for, even if they don’t know what that is when they arrive. If I lived closer, this would be my ‘go to store’. As it isn’t, I have to tell you all you have to «GO TO the Castle Perilous. By order of the Guru!

They also host several D&D groups and I have to say their selection of RPGs is pretty darn good. Whenever I need a sourcebook I usually go here instead of checking amazon.

A few weeks ago I went to Castle Perilous for the first time. I must say that everyone there was super nice and extremely helpful. I wouldn’t say I’m much of a comic book person, although I bought a Doctor Who comic book while I was there.
I am very excited by how much Doctor Who stuff they had. I’m a utter Whovian to the core and it’s nice to see there are places in Southern IL who feed this addiction.
I am also happy about their huge selection of board games.
They won me over as a customer — if you go in, they’ll probably win you over too.

They have a lot of games, and everyone is really nice and helpful. And they put on a small gaming convention (Egypt Wars) which is pretty neat.

It’s funny that I’m reviewing a comic book store, but there’s always a first for everything.
This place is a comic book nerd’s heaven. They have so many books and cards available for sale. Also, they hold Magic tournaments on certain nights of the week so you will see people in one of their many rooms playing against each other.
They have board games, comic books, animé, cards, and props everywhere.
It’s nice to know that a place like this can still survive the tough economy.
