The low star rating is based on what you get for the very expensive price. I have been to very high end spas with exclusive amenities(whirlpool tubs, outdoor relaxation gardens, rainforest rooms, soaking tubs) that charge similar prices or even less than this spa which offers none of that. My husband and I had a couples massage and it was lovely but again not worth the price. The table itself was uncomfortable and I had to adjust myself multiple times on the face pad as I was in pain. I even let the therapist know and nothing was done. I would not come back here unfortunately and left feeling sad we splurged and spent so much money on services that did not warrant the price tag. This is the one regret of our vacation.

This place is only a dream of being called«A Spa» as far as massage goes they hier children fresh out of school who get a small percentage of an over priced service! They can’t truly offer the modalities than an actual spa would offer. These kids are supposed to be beautiful and young and vibrant selling happiness and beauty from within lol Its all masterminded from Kay Casperson her self ! It’s a self endured business of one trying to sell herself and«A» product and appearance! Act as if your happily there for the clientele but truly managing solely from view of the pocket /percentage/ratio of value of each dollar. Okay, I know business is business and we all start a business to be successful and show profit at the end of the day. But there is another side to this so called resort/spa? Don’t waste your time money or effort to even entertain the idea of a good experience unless you just love throwing away your money for which this is the type of clientele she thrives on! She has been fortunate enough to be associated with Sundial Resort which has given her the kind of exposure she has needed to be of any existence at all ! She has thrived off of in this location. To be honest I could go on and on from other aspects of her so called business but I’m not going to. I truly believe she is on her way out! Just read all the other reviews from Unilocal, google and I’ll say you’ve been warned! !! From an experienced spa goer myself I hate to pass any judgements on anyone but in this case please beware! It’s not a true Spa !!!

Very expensive(but that’s expected for a resort location). Clean areas and friendly staff. The reason for the low rating is the massage wasn’t very good. There was zero pressure used(I circled 7⁄10 on how much I like). The woman asked if it was ok, and I responded she could use more. When she didn’t, I didn’t bother asking again because I could tell this was going to be a waste of money. She tried to engage conversation(which I can’t stand — I’m not there to make friends). My husband got one also and told me «it was a tease.» Don’t waste your money.

The location says Captiva, but I went to the one in Sundial(Sanibel) a year ago. Went for a facial, and I have had a number of facials from countless spas. This place offers no lockers and no robes. The girl who did my facial hardly did any extractions. She basically just washed my face and added moisturizer. Really? For a facial costing over $ 100? The products weren’t even that high quality. Needless to say we came back to stay because the resort is nice, but never bothered going back to this so called«spa.»

I wish I would have read these reviews prior to visiting the spa. I’m really surprised that it had two good reviews. My niece and I had manicures there and my daughter had a teen facial. The facial took just 20 minutes — they basically washed her face and put moisturizer on. But the real issue were the manicures. The manicurist never so much as soaked our hands in water. She dotted our cuticles with oil and then started pushing them back while they were still completely dry, tearing the cuticle and peeling off some of the top layer of my nails. She filed the nails slanted and with sharp edges, and the nail polish lifted from every single nail within 24 hours. It did not chip — it literally lifted right off of every single nail in a single piece perfectly shaped like the nail. But the main issue, and what made me write this review, is that the manicurist never cleaned the tools she was using before starting my manicure. I thought maybe they had been in a sanitizing tray before that, but I did not see any, and then she moved onto my niece’s manicure with the same tools and without so much as dusting the file or the buffer she had just used on me. I picked up a fungus and 3 of my nails are lifting off of the nail bed. I have had to cut my nails every week to let them grow clean and my cuticles are still healing. Beautiful place but overpriced and terrible service and hygiene. Absolutely NO reflection on Sundial Resort. My family has been staying there for years — we have had over 20 wonderful visits — and the property is beautiful and well maintained. The pools are great and so are the restaurants. Great beach access and the staff at the resort is just fantastic. Professional, knowledgeable, responsive and attentive. We will undoubtedly stay there many times in the future, but I would not even accept a free service from Kay Casperson. I hate leaving this review about anything on that property, but it really was just a terrible experience. :-(

1 star is too many. Worst massage ever, facilities were cheap but the price was expensive. This would not have been worth it for half the price I was charged.

Worst service ever. My husband had an appt for a massage but when he showed up for it; he was told that his appt was given away to a «couple» who showed up. What’s the point of taking appointments if you’re not going to fulfill it? No apology or anything… I guess they aren’t looking for repeat business!

If I could give this place a zero, I would! I got a pedicure there that was the worst I’ve ever had and Im not a mani/pedi rookie. The worst part about the fact that the pedicure was rushed and careless was the price. Insanely expensive. Priced as an upscale spa, but was on the same level as a walk-in place that smells where the paint is chipping off the walls and the tools arent properly sanitized. Actually this place was maybe worse than some of those places I have been to. To top it all off, I now have an infection in one of my toes from where they clipped the cuticle too short. The staff was dismissive and aloof. The place is horribly decorated and did not have a relaxing vibe at all. What a joke. This place is not a true spa in any way. Dont be fooled by the referral from South Seas Resort or the high«luxurious» prices. Save your money, time and desire to beautify and relax for someplace else.

Aweful — had mani and pedi done, everything peeled off couple hours later… The lady rushed through it without paying much attention to job at task… Will never go there again.

My massage therapist was great, but I really missed having a nice shower/restroom/sauna experience like all other spas have. I arrived early for my appt. thinking I would relax in a spa waiting area with refreshments, but this was a very basic facility. The spa was recently added to the Sundial Resort on Sanibel and my husband treated me to a massage. The new spa was beautifully decorated, however, I saw a check in/check out desk and the massage room… nothing else… no where to shower off. My husband overpaid somehow and the spa called him to say they were refunding part of the bill. He was also charged a 20% miscellaneous fee which I told him was standard for tip when you buy a gift certificate at a spa. I was very surprised to find out at the end of massage, that the 20% miscellaneous fee was NOT for tip. I found that misleading and taking advantage of my husband who didn’t know the protocol at a spa. Overall, the massage was very relaxing and the staff was very pleasant. I don’t think it was worth the price as I’ve spent less at spas with lots more to offer before and after the service.

I have never written a bad review in my life even though I’ve wanted to before, but today is the day. Quick and easy. Services were fine. Just fine. I am in the service industry and usually have a lot of patience with most things so here is what really got me red in the face. A 20% surcharge on services that is NOT considered gratuity. Huh? «Don’t worry, 18% of the surcharge goes to the service provider and they get paid well, so don’t feel pressured to leave gratuity.» Yeah that’s not awkward. So you’re standing there thinking you just stiffed your aesthetician after spending 20% on top of that already high-priced-because-you’re-on-the-beach service. The owner stood there in silence while my husband expressed that he felt awkward about the conversation because they basically told him the 20% was NOT considered gratuity. Come on guys. I’m a hairdresser who knows gratuity is part of the pay, but at the end of the day, 20% is absolutely more than fair. This is a case I have never heard of where the owner is actually trying to underpay her employees and place the burden on the customer. There’s no other explanation, in my opinion. Learn how to sell retail, pay your employees 35−40%, and let your guests decide to pay 20% gratuity and nothing more.

I went here last year for manicures and massages and remember being underwhelmed by the services and shocked by the pricing. Gave them a second try this year and will never go back. My manicure is a mess and Im not super picky but if you are going to charge $ 42 including a 20% mystery charge that is not gratuity– ill pass. $ 50 for a manicure that looks like crap(you can see remnants of my old polish, she didn’t clean up where she got a ton of nail polish on my skin around my nails, they aren’t filed even and the ends are all rough somehow) is insane and I’m accustomed to visiting spas at luxury resorts around the world. I do not recommend.

This past weekend, for my wedding, several of my bridesmaids and I visited Kay Casperson for pre wedding nail appointments as well as hair and makeup appts on the day of my wedding. I would have appreciated feedback from previous brides or clients before spending my time and money at their establishment on my wedding day, but they were not even listed on Unilocal before I wrote this review. I want to publish my disappointment with the staff(a few in particular behaved in the most unprofessional and offensive way) and atmosphere at kay casperson. From the moment we walked in until the moment we left, we were uncomfortable. The problem was with the attitudes of the employees. Without reliving the entire awful experience, I will outline a few main points. My «bridal stylist» Sonya had one of the snottiest, most condescending and unprofessional attitudes of any spa employee I’ve ever encountered. She had an edge and was rude on the day before my wedding(May 31, 2013), which should have been a red flag for me to either walk out out or request someone else. Instead I played along, tried not to offend her too much, and tried to build some kind of rapport with her since I knew I was stuck. I am a licensed psychologist, and used to dealing with difficult personalities. However, I should not have to do this when I am a customer(paying outrageous prices for services), let alone when I am a bride. The day of my wedding, Sonya continued with her rude and nasty treatment of me. I tried to stay silent, look straight forward, and not upset and piss her off more. Near the end of my hairstyle, I was feeling uncomfortable with the height of the teased hair in front and told my MOH. When I returned from the bathroom, my MOH had apparently told Sonya I was wanting to tweak it, and Sonya completely melted down. I don’t even remember the last time someone spoke to me in a such a rude and disrespectful manner. Her attitude was unacceptable, she took an extremely bitchy tone and raised her voice at me saying I was too indecisive and she couldn’t work with me anymore, and was going to turn me over to a different stylist. She was so nasty about it, storming out of the room, I was in shock and disbelief. It was humiliating. My MOH was also appalled. Luckily Heather, the girl who stepped in for her, did not treat me like dirt and was pleasant and professional as she added a few bobby pins to my hair and took me to do my makeup. I have never felt so humiliated or disrespected in my life. I cannot believe Sonya is allowed to work there and speak to brides like that the day of their weddings. The bill fthe day of my wedding was $ 500, $ 600 with tip. That’s obscenely expensive and I was never given an itemized bill or receipt, and the woman who emailed me ahead of time never responded to my numerous requests for prices On Friday I spent $ 400 on 3 mani/pedis and my «bridal consult». For over $ 1,000 I should have walked out of there with a smile on my face feeling wonderful. Unfortunately my bridesmaids and I spent considerable time discussing how our experience at Kay Casperson Spa dampened our spirits and ruined a significant portion of my wedding day. I hope other brides read this review and it helps them. I am truly horrified at how I was treated at Kay Casperson’s spa and extremely angry it affected my wedding day the way it did.
