«Fruit» is an understatement. Everything that could ever be made with fruit is available at this place. Smoothies are made with all fruit — no ice, no water, and I don’t think any sugar. The fruit is frozen, and sweet, and delicious, and that’s all that’s needed for a delicious smoothie. They sell a wide variety of fruits, most grown on site, and grown«organically», but not certified as such. They also had an impressive array of dried fruits, skin care products, and baked goods, most of which we tried. They also have sandwiches and other foods, which we didn’t try. Friendly staff, lovely grounds, outdoor seating, and a bathroom with plumbing round out the facilities. We would definitely return if we are in the area.

Nice fruit stand with a huge selection of fruits grown on the farm and available in season. I came across some fruits I never heard. The smoothies are expensive but delicious and never too sweet.

Macadamia nut mini-pie, Kona coffee, potato salad, and a ham & cheese sandwich with avacado. All of this available at the fruit stand! My friend got fruit, but I got all of the above, and every last bite was scrumptious. She also got the carrot cake and she billed it as «the best carrot cake I’ve ever tasted.» I did have a bite, and I wouldn’t disagree. I was taking the red-eye home last night, and you can’t take fruit out of Hawaii(except pineapple), because of some crazy agriculture rule, so I didn’t get any fruit, but it looked soooo enticing. I am coming back to Kona again if I return to Hawaii. By far my favorite island is the Big Island, and I am making this little stop a priority. Sweet and friendly cashier. Great selection. Beautiful ambiance. Astoundingly delicious food. This is a favorite. Mahalo!

I drive by this spot every time I hit up Hilo, from Kona. Friendly cashier, and she’s all about«organic» fare. Wahine, this is Hawaii… everything is «organic». Anyway, I tried the coconut mango smoothie this time. So refreshing. I added a star because that silly Unilocal sticker is now gone. Mahalo

Great place to stop. Loved the pineapple smoothie I bought as well as the chocolate covered banana, cookies and the exotic fruit that I haven’t ever seen on the main land. I did want to try the chocolate, peanut butter banana smoothie but it came with soy milk. I try to avoid soy, so when I asked if they had any alternatives they said no. It would have been nice if they had a healthier alternative to soy milk.

Very cute little place on the side of the road! I stopped in to get a sandwich and left with so much more! They have a great selection of local products and produce! I got some of their guacamole. It was really good! Definitely a great little appetizer for the sandwich I was about to devour. I also tried their veggie panini. Surprisingly good! They let you pick one of two sides: a pickle or a couple slices or avocado. I chose avocado and I added it into my sandwich. Pretty clever, if I do say so myself. :) I was really hoping to give this place 5 stars but there was one little problem. The chips I bought to go along with my guacamole tasted really stale. I didn’t really think much of it… until I noticed the expiration date. They were waaaaaaaay past expired. AND they were from Laguna Beach! I could’ve bought them and brought them over when visiting my parents in San Diego! And they probably would’ve been fresher… Really bummed out about that because it wasn’t a cheap little bag of chips. Anyways, everything else about this place is awesome! The ladies working there were very sweet as well. Stop by if you’re around!

South Kona Fruit Stand has an awesome selection of fruit… all grown on their farm in the back of the place & they use it to create all kinds of smoothies, sandwiches & refrigerated items. Great items for those hiking for the day, or in our case, heading down to hike around the Volcano We chose the Tropical smoothie which had pineapple, lilikoi & coconut & it was scrumptious! Also snagged some delish apple-bananas. These are the smaller guys that pack huge flavor. They were awesome We had wanted some avocado but they were hard & we were told they’d be ready to eat in a few days… but we were looking for something to eat that afternoon so the nice lady steered us towards their homemade guacamole. It was delightful w/huge hunks of avocado & a nice spice Finally, we saw their impulse-buy mini mac nut tarts & couldn’t resist — nice honey flavor & tons of macs packed into a buttery, crunchy cookie crust… Mmmmm Awesome stop & well worth the detour, no matter which direction you’re driving!

We stopped here during our last trip to Hawaii back in 2005 — 10 years ago. My wife was really looking forward to a return visit. The lustre quickly faded as the owner watched us like thieves. I wanted to try a bite of mango, which was already peeled and cut, in order to determine if we’d like more than one container. She began ringing up the purchase and required me to pay immediately. We were made to feel quite unwelcome. Also, at some point my son was looking at the colorful soaps they sell at this fruit stand. Shortly thereafter, Fruit Nazi is seen counting the soaps. Additionally, the owner made a snide remark in a very passive aggressive manner about allowing the use of a credit card for less than $ 15. I told her I had plenty of cash and happy to pay with that form, but didn’t know there was a minimum for CC. The owner’s reply was, «We have a very large sign.» Wow. So, we got a decent container of mango, an average cookie, and a bottle of soda. Fruit stands are a dime a dozen. I think we’ll find another.
