idyllic spot with good lobsters. it is so pretty the view here. i had a stuffed lobster and the portion was generous, the service fast and the price fair.

I chose the Lobster Pound for my wedding last weekend and I am so glad I did! It was the perfect location for my fall themed nautical wedding. Beautiful view, excellent food, servers, and overall service. Working with Melissa for the wedding planning was enjoyable and stress free.

Wife and I were on a visit south to Portsmouth from Northern Maine visit. We jumped onto Route 1 to hit a Lobster Pound in Ogunquit, ME. Unilocal said they were«open» they were closed. As we both had lobster fever, we did a quick search of local lobster shacks and found the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound, a very fortuitous find indeed. First, the place is dripping quaint New England charm: from the wood construction, to the wide water views and docks and anchorages and the huge stone fireplace scenting the air with oaky perfume. We ordered a pound of steamers to get things started and a bottle of Chardonnay to wash things down. Properly primed, we ordered our lobsters, about a pound and a half each as we made the mistake of a late breakfast that same day. The lobster was cooked perfectly, tender, delicately flavored, and melted in your mouth. The steamers? Guess what we had for dessert? Yep, more steamers, we left full and happy!!!

On a day trip up to Maine yesterday with my parents and dog in tow we were lucky to end up here. We take an annual trip to Chauncy Creek Lobster pond, and I had remembered seeing dogs there in the past. However once we arrived we found out dogs were no longer allowed, fail on my part. So after a quick google search we decided to head to Cape Neddick. They have a small deck area in the back off the bar where dogs are allowed, it is overlooking the water and very chill. The staff was so nice, and we were kind of pains, the dog, a broken glass etc. they got clean water for the dog, were lovely to chat with and never forgot about us out on the little deck. For food, we had steamers and boiled lobsters and everything was great. The steamers were clean(I hate when they are sandy) and the lobster Delivered on the high expectation of the deliciousness of Maine Lobster. I am hoping to go back soon, sans pooch, so we can sit inside and enjoy the amazing views!

Excellent service and the haddock was beyond fresh, practically still swimming on the plate. Couldn’t have asked for more. I ate at the bar and the bartender was always attentive and friendly. Over all highly recommend this place, a little small but great for families, parking is a little tricky too cause it’s right next to a small beach.

The wait staff is very friendly and the atmosphere out on the upper deck is wonderful. However, all of the other reviews about the speed of the service is spot on. We were the first people in the door when they opened at noon and we were being served our food an hour later. If you are very hungry or in a hurry for a quick lunch or dinner, this is not the place to go.

My boyfriend and I stopped in around 3:15p. We were both really excited to try a lobster roll and we were so hungry we didn’t want to drive any further. We were seated promptly with a nice view of a little dock. It took awhile for a waitress to greet us, even though it seemed like there were plenty of girls working. We ordered the crab cakes and each got ourselves a lobster roll. The crab cakes took 30 minutes to come out… If you could even call it a crab cake. The inside was scalding hot and the outside was cool. Lots of breading. About 15 minutes later we got our lobster roll — 7⁄10. I thought it was unprofessional to see servers eating openly. This was a total tourist trap.

So was in Portsmouth for the afternoon and wanted to get a lobster dinner but didn’t want to go to far north up the Maine coast. I drove a little bit and took a shot at lobster pound. This place looks like your typical cape seafood restaurant with the summer regulars enjoying their seafood. The bar is really big and I got a spot there. Had a local Maine brew and ordered the lobster. The bartender was super nice and the price of the lobster was well writhin reason. About 25 bucks or so. It came with potatoes and carrots. The lobster was really sweet and great flavor. Seemed like it was fresh and right out of the ocean. Definitely a cool spot to eat and watch the tide come in. Will come back if ever in Maine!

Stopped here for lunch today. There were 5 of us in all. We walked in an immediately liked the atmosphere. I ordered the Captains Platter that came with fried shrimp, scallops, whole belly clams and haddock. The price was 27.95 and when my order came it only had 4 clams and only 4 scallops on the plate. Needless to say, I was not happy about it. I told the waitress and all she said was, I don’t blame you but there is no one here to complain too. Not liking that answer I just said fine and we finished our lunch. As far as the other people in my party, my wife had a fried shrimp basked for 12.99, the shrimp were very small but she liked it. One person had a burger that was fine and another had the fried scallop basket that was 12.99 and that was fine. The last person had chicken tenders and they were ok. So we are getting ready to leave and I say to the waitress that I can’t believe there wasn’t a manager on duty. She says, oh there is, but you ordered it, you ate it. Now, I was really upset. I asked her to go get the manager. I explained to her about the platter only having 4 clams and scallops and that the waitress told me there was no one to complain too. Then she told me after we paid that she basically decided not to get the manager on her own. The manager agreed the platter was light and the waitress was out of line. She canceled the original payment and took 15.00 off my bill. A 28.00 platter should have more then 8 clams and scallops, the waitress totally overstepped her bounds today!

This was fun. Rustic old world seemingly so maine, twin lobsters, steamers, lobster chowder and wedge were great. Bartender had a personality as did Nicole our waitress who ran her ass off. Everyone seemed to be helping each other good for them it was great overall !!

EXTRAORDINARY! My husband and I hosted a rehearsal dinner at CNLP for 140 people last week and it was the most amazing wonderful event. The look is Maine at its best– a shack with buoys hanging from its side and inside a warm, inviting setting overlooking a sleepy river inlet. But most importantly the food– absolutely delicious– from tasty informal apps like pigs in blanket and shrimp cocktail, to a full lobster bake dinner — the very best clam chowder, the sweetest lobster and mouthwatering blueberry crisp topped with local vanilla ice cream. Neither I nor our family and friends could not stop raving about that evening. An authentic«Taste of Maine»

Yummy! They had a special the night we were in for 2 steamed lobster’s. We ordered those and also ordered a steak to share for the perfect surf and turf dinner. SO yummy. Can’t wait to go back next year :)

Prices are reasonable, food is fantastic and the service is consistently excellent, even for a party of 13. Chowder is done exactly as it should be, with big chunks of clam, and everyone loved what they ordered!

Stopped in here on a drive up Maine coast. We had to try the lobster roll of course. BIG mistake. Very small for price and the lobster was minced, say what? Yes, minced lobster meat. Chopped up very small pieces, couldn’t even tell if it was claw or tail. It was also loaded with mayo. So much mayo it was actually runny. Tried the clam chowder too. That wasn’t bad, hence the second star. Service was bad too. Very surly waitress. It was 3PM, after lunch and before dinner, and not crowded at all. Who knows what her prob was !? Wont be back.

Skip this place… or you will regret it. The outside looks like a house from the Brady Bunch… and the meals are of the same quality and size as microwaveable meals from a grocery store! It’s a tourist trap. The bill was over $ 80 for two people and we had to stop somewhere else afterwards to REALLYEAT! The appetizers were fit for a baby, the entrees were TINY, and everything tasted super processed and straight from a bag. The whole experience shouldn’t have cost more than $ 8! Those that say this place is great are natives. Since there aren’t many food options for a stretch, for them, it’s a local Denny’s.

As somewhat of a local, I’ve been frequenting Cape Neddick Lobster Pound for ages. The word consistent is an understatement. Many other restaurants in the area have given me great meals and experiences, but upon returning I’ve been less than satisfied. Cape Neddick Lobster Pound always delivers and it has become an old standard for myself, my family, and my friends, who find the place to be their favorite in York. The only buyer beware statement I’d give is to be mindful of the prime rib. I have had some of the best pieces of prime rib at Cape Neddick and I’ve often left with a side-splitting full stomach because of it. It is simply an incredible meal when they have it on special. HOWEVER, if you are very particular with your steaks, be sure to check with the waitress about what kind of cuts are still available. If you show up later in the evening(after 7:00) all of the rare portions tend to be already medium or beyond. This has been a particular issue on a few occasions when we first started frequenting CNLP. Now that I’m a seasoned pro, I know to avoid it so that I’m not disappointed. At this point I’ve almost had everything on the menu except the lobster dishes. Each meal has been worthy of high praise for a local New England joint. I’m not a personal fan of lobster but I can promise you that everyone I know swears by the Baked-Stuffed Lobster, Lazy Man’s Lobster, or the Lobster Bouillabaisse. Do go here and«Get Pounded»!

I treated myself to lunch here. The baked stuffed lobster was great. I went with the roasted red potatoes as my side and thought they were also great. The corn on the cob, however, was not very good.

I am a regular here. I have to say, this place is very consistent. A personal favorite of mine, and I believe it to be one of their signature dishes, is the baked stuffed lobster. Very, very good. The waitstaff here is also top notch. Very attentive and great with kids. One of the only downfalls of the restaurant is that they lack a kids menu, but the«Lighter Fare» part of the menu suffices for kids from 8 – 15. I totally recommend giving this place a try. They have a very cool bar and the views are really nice. As a side note, I never fill out a review card, but we went there this week while on vacation and our waitress was one of the best we have ever had at any restaurant in the area so I filled one out. We have been dining out here in the greater York area for over 20 years so I consider myself a bit of a York foodie.
