I would never support this store– I called to ask if they were open, they were, I told the woman we were on our way. 15 minutes later we arrived and the door was locked. I knocked, the woman was chewing and said yeah I closed. She couldn’t have cared less.

My family and I love this store. The soaps are great and also make wonderful thank you gifts for our various friends and family. The online store was easy to use and made for great stocking stuffer @ Xmas.

I love A Place On Earth. Yes, it is more expensive than buying mass produced soaps at the grocery store, however it is worth it. It lasts longer than the same size bar of «regular» soap. They have many scents to chose from, and always have seasonal scents. And I never had service with anything less than a smile.

I’m one who is hesitant to try homemade beauty products. However, after purchasing soap from this amazing store and using it exclusively, I am sold. The quality of the soap is amazing, the olive oil makes it the perfect consistency. And, there are many fragrances that are suitable for men — a rarity in such places.

Monkey Farts is the best smell… you have to try it out… go to the sugar scrub bar and fill up a container… Enjoy

I really like this store. Very simple and unique homemade soaps, scrubs, and other bath related items. No overwhelming smells when you walk in either. My favorite soap is ‘Aurora”, and scrub is «Cape May». This store is a «must see».!

Emily R hit on it the best. This is a homemade, local mom-and-pop version of Lush type proportions(except for the non-guarantee of organic products). It is a great place for small gift add-ons though. They have everything from large chunks of soap(they cut the amount you want) to sugar scrub to bath salts… even tub tea! I ended up scooping up a Lemongrass bath bomb(what can I say, I’m a sucker for citrus!) and the employee also threw a couple soap samples in as well. The bottom of the receipt also had a coupon for 10 or 15% off the bath scrub(no expiration date, woo-hoo!) Not a bad way to go if you want a gift and want to support a local business. (I’ll update about the lemongrass bath bomb after I try it!)

This is my absolute favorite soap on earth! Every year I am in Cape May I stock up on soaps from here. A Place on Earth is a small store located at the«mall» in Cape May, where they make their own products. Soaps are cut from larger bars, and then weighed and wrapped in paper. There are so many scents to choose from, and many times have seasonal scents available. You can help yourself to bath salts and sugar scrubs, both which I can say are wonderful. My favorite scents are Monkey Farts(banana, coconut and lime) and Orange Ginger(orange, ginger, cinnamon). This year I found two new products to love — the body spread and Shampoochie dog soap. The body spread is made from shea butter and does not feel greasy on your skin, yet it moisturizes and makes your skin so soft, with an added scent. The dog soap bar lathers better than any dog shampoo and smells great! I have a white dog and it worked just as well as the brightening shampoos. I will be stocking up on this to pamper my pet! While the prices are a little expensive, I think it’s worth the price. The soaps moisturize your skin and lather right until the end. No more throwing away those little pieces of soap. The staff is great too, and you always get little samples to try. As you can see, I love this store. I recommend it to all my friends and many of them are hooked just like me.

As the guy working the cash register told me: «This is the house that soap built!» This is such a great little soap bar. They also have really cute little gag gifts and other grab and go products. They even gave me some samples to take home and try. Very friendly folks found here! You should also check out their sugar scrub bar. It looks like an gelato bar. So cute. Please refrain from tasting… you will deeply regret it.

A local Cape May guide book states that a ‘Place on Earth is like no place on Earth’, which goes to show it was written by a man. A Place on Earth is so wanna-be Lush I am surprised that they haven’t been sued for theft of intellectual property. The prices are just as high too, for product that may be «homemade» –actually I find that concept scary– but doesn’t have the commitment to ecology and green living that Lush does or the over-the-top– luxuriance. Shoppers may be lulled by the similarlty between the two stores to think homemade means green but A Place on Earth doesn’t actually make that claim. I tried three of their products and every single one of them was a complete waste of money. No moisturizer, no exfollient, not even any SCENT none at all! And they were supposed to have all 3. The website is still in major need of editing– they might want to break down and actually get someone with a Lit degree to proofread it– but it is not quite as howlingly laughable as when the place first opened. At least it seems to be doing ok off the tourist trade and the catchy sign gets people into the basement-level of the building that previously had a hard time staying open. Me, I go to Good Scents when in town.

A Place on Earth is similar to Lush, if you’ve ever been there. They make their own products — soaps, scrubs, bath salts, etc. When you walk in, there’s huge chunks of soap that they cut from for customers to buy. They have pretty unique and interesting scents and I love how you can serve yourself. Choose a container and ladle in whichever sugar scrub you want from the sink-like counter. The bath salts are also self-serve. I would buy much more here if the prices were a little lower, but they are an independent business, not a chain, so low prices are not necessarily expected. Very friendly and helpful staff.
