My husband and I are big fans of Vietnamese. We have our favorite spots in Philadelphia and Memphis. Favorite dishes are the rice noodle dishes. This place will not satisfy my craving for it, nor make my wallet happy. We pay the same prices with larger quantities at other restaurants. But I will say this… The food was good, it just wasn’t what we were used to. I’m very happy Cape has a Vietnamese option. I’m just not sure how often I see us actually going there, with the cost and portion sizes.

This place for me is average at best. I got some takeout and maybe the quality would’ve been better had I dined in. The spring rolls were excellent I have to give him that. I have the combination Phở. Then meatballs tasted overprocessed and reminded me of a Chef Boyardee meatball. Lots of noodles & lots of beans sprouts but very light on the fresh herbs which is one of the reasons I love phở in the first place. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. The next time I’m in Cape Girardeau, I’ll spring for something else.

Came in and waited five minutes before anyone came out and I went to the counter. They finally saw me.(You have to just order at the counter.) They actually charge for water. Sat down to a filthy table(several had not been wiped down) and my fault for sitting in front of a full tub of dirty dishes. Nothing special about the food and salty. For as many people in here doing nothing it should at least be clean. The lady at the counter who took my order also made the food. She was polite. For a $ 13 lunch I should not have to bus my own table or pay for water.

Excellent Deal — try the Rice Bowl w/Chicken $ 6.95. Steamed rice with sautéed chicken in a peanut sauce and small side of lettuce, carrots and crushed peanut. Also the Vietnamese Salad at $ 5 is really good.

I ordered the sweet jalapeño rice bowl and loved it. I got it with chicken, it usually comes with beef. We started with the crispy spring rolls and loved those as well. My favorite part is the fact that they had Vietnamese iced coffee; I didn’t know I could find that in Cape. I’ll definitely be back!

Kinda weird. I was excited to see a Vietnamese place walking distance from the hospital but when I got there it wasn’t what I expected. Pretty limited menu. I went hopping for some bún bò xào, my standard for judging, but no, did not have. I ordered cha gio but they were disappointing as they came with no greens or herbs and with some odd pepper jelly that I’ve had with tex mex rolls instead of some fragrant nuoc cham. In fact, I was disappointed in the apparent absence of fish sauce anywhere. The phở didn’t seem like any I’d had before and I’m not enough of an expert to know how authentic it was. The thin vermicelli noodles seemed out of place, the broth wasn’t as deep as most I’ve had. The topper to this? The menu touting the house made kimchi. Yes. Kimchi. Vietnamese. Something ain’t right here. TL;DR: Having said all that, you know what? I left happy, so I’m not going do deny them my stars of approval. Maybe it was because it was a frigid rainy night and I had a cold and the place was clean and people friendly and the phở was hot and tasty, but nothing was bad, everything had good points, and I walked out happy and satisfied. I’m not going to be a food snob and complain because things weren’t «authentic». Good is good. (For the record, I’m not saying any who complain about authenticity are food snobs, just that I would feel like one. The place presents as authentic, so complaining when they turn out not to be is perfectly valid and I’ve got no problem with that.)

This is a 3.5. I’m rounding down as they don’t have tap water and make you buy bottled water. Vietnamese food can be spicy, so that seems like a racket. Yes, yes, like it has been lamented before, the food doesn’t taste authentic, but ya know, as a vegetarian, authentic restaurant Vietnamese food is often polluted with fish sauce, so I am okay with it. Ordering is at a counter from several large menu boards and they bring you the prepared food. Everything is explained and you could order in English without fear of butchering something in Vietnamese. All employees I saw were white, FWIW, so no one might even know if you said something wrong. I had phở, even though it was grossly hot and humid that day. I think phở tastes better with a few spoonfuls of chili oil, but I backed off due to the aforementioned water situation. The other two people I was dining with(I call them Mom and Dad :)), enjoyed their noodle dishes. Food was otherwise cheap, although the bahn mi seemed expensive as I have it my head that Oakland Chinatown prices should be universal(4 sandwiches for $ 10). All basic items(com, bun, phở, bahn mi) were $ 6.95 unless you wanted shrimp.

Phở is my favorite and I have had phở from many different places all over the world. This is not phở. Does not taste like how phở should taste. Price is right, and what they call«phở» tastes good, but tastes nothing like real phở. I gave them a few tries thinking they would improve since they opened. But they never could get the phở right. They don’t even use phở noodles.

Very americanized. Phở broth was very good. Would like to see authentic Phở noodles in the future instead if the vermicelli noodles. But it did give me a phở fix.

Wow… this place is called Phở 8 for a reason: incredible phở! I’m not actually sure if I ever had phở before coming here, but this is probably the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to several Vietnamese places in St. Louis and Houston. Since the place is named for phở, and the menu said theirs is famous, I knew I had to order it! As for the less important qualities, those are awesome too! Tasteful décor, clean, good lighting, quiet environment. If you’re in Cape, definitely do yourself a favor and check them out!

Can you say yum? I love the Vegetarian rice bowl and the ginger and honey ice cream! The staff was very friendly and helpful, even though I took a long time to make up my mind. Also, I love the nice-sized selection of interesting drinks and teas. I’ll be back for more, don’t worry!

It’s nice to have a Vietnamese place in Cape, especially considering most of the restaurants here are national chains. I’ve been here twice, and neither was a great experience. The first time I came, I ordered the banh mi, aka Vietnamese sandwich. It took 45 minutes for our sandwiches, with no apology or explanation of wait time. The second time, my husband and I got phở. As a regular phở eater, I found this very disappointing. The broth was clear with not much flavor. The broth is the foundation of the dish! There were 2 small slices of beef, and a scant amount of herbs. Would not order again. Finally, it bothers me that they have no water available. Only water available is by the bottle, which just seems ridiculous. Probably wouldn’t return here.

Can you say Yummy?! I can’t speak to the comments about it being authentic but it is very tasty with obviously fresh ingredients. I ate in the first time and carried out the second time. Had the grilled chicken noodle bowl both times and enjoyed it both times. Fresh, friendly, and fast. Reasonably priced. Love it!

If you are a Phở lover as i am, this place is sadly dissapointing. The broth(which is THE reason to order Phở) is watered down to the point of tastlessness. It tasted like hot garlic water– not even a hint of the delicious spice that makes Phở so wonderful. And at $ 9.00 for a small bowl, expensive too. The basil and sprout side was old and brownish. I pretty much am happy with most Phở’s– but this was truly awful. Oh, and want water to drink w your meal? NO tap. You HAVE to buy bottled. This place is doomed for failure.

Great food, good portions. I have tried the Phở, the Noodles, and the Rice bowl. I liked them all but thought the Phở Noodles with grilled beef was the best. Good Appetizers, the wonton wrapped spring rolls were very good as was the gyoza.

The owner is attentive, the seating is comfortable and the portions are ample. The pork was a little on the salty side, but it had great flavor. There is a lot of side vegetables if you get soup and they use lots of fresh, appropriate herbs, which I liked.

Honestly, Phở 8 isn’t authentic. It’s not bad for Americanized Vietnamese food. I like the Banh Mi and Com(rice bowls). I’d order them again. I wouldn’t recommend the Phở(noodle soup) to hardcore Phở connoisseurs though. The restaurant is clean and the people are nice. You have to order and pay at the counter first. Then you get a number and you pick a place to sit. It has a very casual atmosphere and there are fun canned/bottled asian drinks to try like soy milk, coconut juice, and teas.
