Chocolate Works

These guys were great when I wanted to send get well chocolates to a friend in the hospital. It was a Sunday afternoon, all the flower shops closed and I was calling from Charlottesville, VA so didn’t know the area well. The staff were all great (thanks Kristin!), including their delivery guy, Michael. Overall, better than flowers and great customer service! Thanks so much :)

I wondered into Chocolate Works after deciding that a treat was worth the calories. I purchased a dark chocolate macadamia nut cluster with caramel and a dark chocolate pecan cluster with caramel. First clue was when I opened the sack-​no chocolate aroma. I tried the macadamia nut cluster first – I thought I was eating wax. If blindfolded, there was no way I would have known I was eating chocolate. Flavorless, completely flavorless dark chocolate. I tried another bite thinking how could this be? Nope, a Hershey’s milk chocolate candy bar has ten times more chocolate flavor. Final conclusion: I do not know what they are using in their chocolate but the cocoa/​chocolate content is nonexistent. I gave two stars as they have a huge selection and the shop is clean and cheery. This is pricey considering the quality.

We live 30 mins South of Cape Girardeau, and have to stop here every time we are in town. Love their brownie batter bites, malt balls, and much more. Love their nostalgic candy that I haven’t seen since the 90s.

Great selection but the chocolate treats we bought tasted old. Wondering if they have enough business to turn inventory and keep things fresh. They have done great specialty gift ideas.

This is an awesome attraction in downtown Cape Girardeau, MO. They are open until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Plenty of parking across the street. They make so much fresh and on the spot. Stop in and check them out!
