This was a great treasure discovered via Unilocal. It was spotlessly clean. The food was authentic. We ordered mooshoo pork, vegetable egg for young, curry chicken and general Tysons chicken. All were fantastic. Authentic, proper sauces accompanied each. Service was quick, attentive and friendly. Will return if a roadtrip takes us through the area again.

I’ve eaten here twice and both times I couldn’t eat half my plate because it just tasted bad. First time it was gagging me it tasted so bad, Egg Foo Young. Second time the fried rice tasted like smoke. I am guessing it was in a big steam cooker or something and the bottom was burnt and I got rice from the top. I always here about how people love this place. My wife disliked as well as my small children who are not picky eaters. Perhaps I just gotten some goofs from the cooks but I won’t go back.

Great food, great service, at a very reasonable price. Also good atmosphere. Try the chinese chicken noodle soup with egg on top, or the general Tso’s chicken, its great.

Today I wanted Chinese and decided to try Chan’s. I ordered the double pork from the traditional menu. I was warned several times that it would be spicy. Let me tell you, it was delightfully spicy. It was flavorful and spicy. While the dish was mostly bacon, tofu, and peppers the sauce was great. I will be trying this place many more times. I may even try some of the traditional pig intestine dish they offer.

Best Chinese food — homemade not your typical everyday chinese, — excellent and very fast service, all at a ridiculously low price point. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for Authentic Chinese Food, this place is the best place in town! «Best crab rangoon» They have 2 Menus — One is the typical chinese menu. Wonton soup, egg drop soup, eggrolls, fried rice. Orange chicken etc. If you ask for the Authentic Menu… They have varieties to choose from… Real Chinese/Spicy Eggplant with pork is my husband’s favorite(No 12) Fish with Napa Cabbage and spicy sauce is one of my favorites(No 11) Love their Noodle Dishes The staffs are very friendly and the service is good! Enjoy!!!

Can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this place. What can I say, consistently the best Chinese food in town. They have an authentic menu as well as the Americanized version. The staff are quiet, hard working and friendly. Kiki runs the place standing at the register most of the time. She works all the time. What a sweetheart. All of my family come here from Marble Hill, Fredericktown, and us From Cape Girardeau. Is the food good? Just watch the take out biz that they do. Tip: Try the eggplant and pork from the Chinese menu. Waves of pork goodness will wash over your being! Eggplant is so tasty. One of my go to favorites.

Best Chinese food in Cape Girardeau if you order off the authentic menu rather than the Americanized menu that most people recognize as Chinese food. My family likes the dumplings, especially fried and for the price it’s much better than making them at home.

What is it about Cape Girardeau that attracts mediocre restaurants? Here’s another one. Chan’s serves Americanized Chinese cuisine with little seasoning, a lack of fresh ingredients, and zero originality. We’re having a busy week so I stopped off for carryout for the family. We ordered beef fried rice, chicken lo mein, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, crab Rangoon, and Springfield-style cashew chicken. Now, I’m from Springfield, so my expectations of how a Cape restaurant would prepare this dish were pretty low and Chan’s did not surprise me. The chicken was overcooked and dry, there was very little oyster sauce, and the chicken appeared to be prepared in a type of tempura batter, not the kind of batter typical of Springfield-style cashew chicken. This dish was bland and disappointing. The sweet and sour chicken and sesame chicken were also prepared in a type of tempura batter. I’m guessing they prepare all of the chicken the same way and then let it sit until it’s time to slap the various sauces on it. Both of these dishes were also terribly bland and dried out. The chicken lo mein and beef fried rice were also lacking in flavor. The won tons had a funny taste and were just not good. The only ingredient that would qualify as fresh was the chopped scallion on top of the awful cashew chicken. There were not fresh veggies in the fried rice or the lo mein. I’m not going back.

Get the combination. Portion size is still very big and you get a side. The sweet and sour shrimp was amazing. The moo goo gai pan was good as well. Loved the shrimp Rangoon. Prices were pretty reasonable considering the amount of food you get. Décor was a bit dated.

I loved Chan’s when I lived in Cape. My only regret is that I didn’t learn about it sooner — but never I never had a poor experience. The citrus sauce that is on the table is amazing, and their food is great. Never had an issue with staff, never had an issue with food, both dine-in and take-out have been great as well.

Used to eat here probably once a week when I went to college in Cape. It was perfect for a fulfilling meal that did not cost much at all. The staff was always extremely friendly and always got my drink before I ordered since I always had the same drink. My grandfather loved this place and I do too. It has a very peaceful atmosphere, and if I want Chinese when I am in Cape, I go to Chan’s.

There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in Cape, but good Chinese food is a scarcity. Chan’s looks a little shabby on the exterior, but so do all the other Chinese restaurants in Cape. However, the interior has a cozy, inviting atmosphere. There is relaxing Asian music playing in the background, Asian ‘artifacts’ on the walls, Chinese lanterns and mobiles, and amazing dollar bill origami. The first thing we noticed about the patrons is that there were several Asian people dining here. This was a good indicator to us that the cuisine would be tasty and authentic. The menu is typical of Chinese take-out restaurants. We ordered off the combination meal which was an incredible deal. Each of us received two shrimp rangoons, a soup of our choice(egg flower or wonton), two scoops of rice of our choice(white or fried), and a huge portion of our main meal. We had the beef pepper steak and sesame chicken for our entrees. There was more food than we could eat; all for under $ 16.00 including tax. As far as the food itself, it’s not the most authentic Chinese food we have ever tasted, but it was still darn good. The fried rice lacked vegetables and egg, and the sesame chicken was very sweet(almost like honey chicken) and lacked vegetables(some broccoli would’ve been nice), but the lack of vegetables at Chinese restaurants seems like a reoccurring thing with our dining experience in southeastern MO. It’s comforting to know that there is a Chinese restaurant in Cape that is not sterile in atmosphere, actually makes an attempt to provide a comfortable Asian atmosphere, AND has great tasting food with prompt and friendly service. We will definitely be back to this restaurant when we have cravings for Chinese food!

Back in the day, like perhaps almost 2 decades ago, this place was the shiz-nit. I learned to use chop sticks, fold cloth napkins all fancy-style, and like Chinese food here, and the owners used to give us lolipops, too. The last time I went here the Christmas before last, the ownership had changed and the menu was all Cantonese-y, and the food was pretty flavorless. 5 stars for what it used to be, 1.5 stars for now, and I’ll round up to 4 stars as my perception of food is different in Cape than it is for food in California.
