I recently moved here from out of town from Bakersfield. Unilocaled Quail Lodge. Wow! 5 stars does not do John and Deb justice. Like staying with family while I started my new assignment. Extremely clean and cozy. Fishing themed lodge. I cannot overstate John and Deb’s hospitality. The other guests were extremely friendly as well! It was nice starting my first day of «school», with John and Deb in my corner. Looking forward to going back and hiring John as a fishing guide. Would recommend this lodge to anyone, not just fishing folks. Will make sure any out of town guests I have stay there. Fantastic is really the experience I had. Enjoying an adult beverage with new friends around the fire? Great beginnings! Give John and Deb a call.

One of the best nights I’ve had! John and Deb were gracious hosts. They took good care of us, let our hungry group use their grill, and showed us how to make a proper tri-tip. They even gave us all of our missing supplies: olive oil, salt, butter, cutting board, knife, foil etc. You get the idea. We were thoroughly not prepared, but were well taken care of by our amazing hosts! This kind of hospitality is very refreshing!

I don’t write a lot of reviews, we’ll actually any, but I feel like leaving a review for Quail Lodge is important. The owners, Deb and John, are so friendly and welcoming that my friends and I felt like we have been friends with them for a long time. We had spent a long day at Lassen volcanic national park before coming over around 8pm. We also showed unprepared up with ginormous pieces of tri tip, and John helped us with their awesome wood chip bbq(seeing our lack of preparation). How friendly is that?! The quality and condition of the lodge is well above the price range, and if I ever am in the area, would definetly try to book here first! Solid 5⁄5

We discovered the Quail Lodge on Unilocal after a railroad convention took all the rooms in the Quincy area. We knew we were bound for something different when we called ahead and Deb said we would arrive just in time to join friends for a BBQ! We arrived to find that the usual covered area for checking in was populated with picnic tables and people having a good time. When John & Deb realized we were the expected customers, they said to just drive around to our room and then grab a refreshment and relax, as the check-in process could be taken care of later! So we felt like we had arrived at friend’s for dinner, not a motel The spotless rooms have recently been remodeled, each with its own theme. We will go out of our way to stay with Deb & John on future trips through the Lake Almanor area.

5 stars from us — however, if you are a traveler that wants a spa like adventure with restaurants, bars and night life within walking distance… this isn’t for you. If, however, you come to this area looking to enjoy nature, beautiful scenery and great hosts, this is your place. We had television and my ATT cell service worked fine here. John and Deb were the absolute best — friendly but not overly so — very willing to talk about their transition from 9 to 5ers to owning this lodge and also enthusiastic about the area. They run this place like they basically open their home to you. You can use their bbq, they’ve set up a great fire pit, you can use the laundry, etc. We were here just before the summer season so not much really going on in the area itself but we had the lakeside to ourselves on multiple days. If you are into fishing, hiking, etc. this is THE wonderland. There is a lot of golf and outdoor activities. Plumas County also maintains multiple off road areas where even 2 wheel vehicles can get through easily so you can explore to your hearts content. This place reminds me of Tahoe with its beauty but does NOT have the traffic, people, casinos, etc.

The new owners, John and Debb, are making a wonderful job with Quail Lodge. The lodge is very nice and cozy. We were supposed to stay two nights, but decided to stay one more night once we were there. The room was really big, clean, cozy, and nicely decorated. The bathroom is big. The rom has tv, microwave, fridge, heating, AC, coffee maker. We only had a bit of a problem with the wifi, but when we mentioned it to them, they were really helpful. Overall, John and Deb did everything they could to make our stay as good as possible. We stayed during Christmas time, and they even invited us to join them for dinner with their family and some friends. The dinner was awesome, and we really enjoyed the company. John gave us plenty of advice and lent us some books and brochures to get to know the area better. Thanks to them, we discovered a lot of things around Lake Almanor and Plumas Forest, such as Antelope Lake, which we wouldn’t have been able to discover by ourselves. The lodge is very well-located: it is very near the lake, and Chester, but it is in a quiet and low transited area as well. This is an all-season lodge. People usually go there during the summer, but we stayed during winter time, and it was very nice. Lassen Nat’l Park is very near, enjoyed it a lot during winter. We would be happy to come back to Lake Almanor, and if we do, we would definitely stay again at Quail Lodge.

I’m in love! In love with this place! In love with John & Debbie the new owners. And in love with Max — official greeter and lodge dog! In love with the quiet, star-studded dark sky and the chill in the air. The no frill exterior hides a cozy and warm interior. Love the outdoorsy themed bedspreads and pine log beds. The tiny gas stoves are fabulous on a cold night. All the little touches that really translate into«attention to detail» were all there. All rooms have mini-fridge, microwave, coffeepot, flat-screen TVs, free WiFi, and bathroom heaters. Nice towels which I have often pointed out is a big plus. Great for families, couples, friends, romantic getaway — whatever! Picnic tables, barbecue, easy access to Lake Almanor and all of the open space and outdoor recreation in Plumas County. Rooms are spotless! Double-queens, single queen, and queen with twin. Connecting rooms are an added benefit for larger groups and families. If you need a fishing guide… just ask. Love the lodge lobby with fireplace, over-stuffed sofas, larger flat-screen TV. John and Debbie are to please, serve and send you away smiling.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Quail Lodge for the weekend. The owner, John, was very accommodating and made our weekend great. The rooms are all very clean and the entire lodge is comfortable and relaxing. The outdoor BBQ and use of kitchen is a great perk and we enjoyed dinner outside. All around a great experience! Thanks John — we will be back for a fishing tour!!!

Wow! Can I just profess my adoration for Deb and John. They were so welcoming and hospitable during my stay at the Quail Lodge. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, well-maintained, and full of amenities. Also, for the price, I think this is a great value. If I’m even in the Lake Almanor area again, this is where I plan on staying.
