So i went in on member appreciation night. The wait was massive maybe an hour. And finnaly finnaly after sitting down they practically didnt even notice we were there. After a half and hour of waiting it closed and we never even got our food it was a outrage. We complained to the manager and he let us come back next week for free so the people were nice but the food wasnt to impressive anyway

This is a nice course in the Woodmont neighborhood. The course is well maintained and seems to get decent play. The staff is nice. The clubhouse is your typical Georgia golf neighborhood clubhouse. Nothing fancy. The greens played soft and slow. The course is what I call vanilla. Pretty straight forward. Not a lot of thinking involved. Hit it straight and go. Straight and long never gets you in trouble. If you are straight and long then you don’t have to worry much on the second shot. Don’t worry, the greens will hold your approach shot. A good course.

Question: Where can you play a course and feel like you are at a country club? Answer is Woodmont! The only Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed course in Atlanta is a masterpiece. If it was only located a little closer to Atlanta I would buy a membership and live happily ever after. Unfortunately it is a 50 minute drive for me. The facilities from the clubhouse to the range to the condition of the course are all first class. So is the price. I refuse to knock a star off for either the cost or the distance as it is so worth it. Not a course I will play often but a few times a year for sure. The layout of the course is terrific. It is challenging with many bunkers, water hazards and OB on many holes. The closing holes starting with #16 is where you find out what you are made of. Sixteen is a par-5 that dog-legs to the right with a creek in front of the green. This is a three shot hole for everyone. Seventeen can be totally different depending on which tee you are playing. From the black and the blue it is a mid-length par-4 dogleg that you have to cross water twice. From the whites it is a short par-4 with water in front of the green. Hit a fairway wood or hybrid to inside the 150 stake and then shoot for the green. Don’t be short or it is splash time. Don’t be long or you will be chipping to a downhill green and it may run off into the water. If you have survived those two, it is time for the finishing hole. A long uphill par-5 with bunkers everywhere. From there it is time for a beer(or two) on the deck. Woodmont is in my top three favorites courses in Atlanta. Treat yourself and play it once. When you have you won’t think it was too expensive. It is that special.
