This is a must stop in Canton. The Imperial is in the old Imperial Hotel building that is a part of Canton’s history. This historical site has an internal industrial flare while serving comfort southern, Cajun, and more. The Imperial’s brunch items on Sundays(only opened Sunday’s seasonally, call ahead) are amazing. The waitstaff is friendly and the prices range from $ 8-$ 16. They have burgers, chicken masala(shockingly good!), shrimp and grits(one of my favorites!), and great children’s options(I have a preschooler) that are not just fries and nuggets. Lack some top shelf liquor, but that’s not the reason I go. Their seasonal menus and special occasion menus pull from Cajun, Indian, and southern backgrounds. There is something tasty for everyone. Recommendations: shrimp and grits, masala, waffle plate

The waitress indicted they would be closing in two weeks for a change in management and would open again at the end of the month. That is no excuse for the poor experience. The food was sub par but quick. The heat had to be off as it was cold inside and I kept my jacket on during the entire meal.

Had a sweet lunch date w/hubby and definitely plan on going back! Historic hotel, meticulously restored. One table is partially covering a hatch on floor used during prohibition. Great food… I had Fish and Chips served with Atlantic Cod which is the only fish I’ll eat now. It was thick, crunchy on outside and perfect inside. Not oily at all. Husband had daily special turkey panani. Plan on having the crabcake! Be sure and call as winter hours are quite different.

Beautiful building rich with history.(Our table was mostly on top of a trap door used during prohibition.)Tasty food and beer. Homemade desserts. I had the peppermint pie, yum! Not over priced with an upscale flair. Perfect date night locale. Try the local beers on tap, too. Cold and delicious. We will be back!

One of the better lunch spots in Canton. I like that they have a pretty wide selection of standard American pub food, with some unique and very reasonably prices specialty dishes as well. For the standard items, the fish and chips are excellent, with two pretty big pieces per order. Also the burger and the fried chicken club are also also very good. A stand-out item is the shrimp and grits, which actually has grit cakes instead of a bowl of grits, but they are crispy with a creamy inside that really makes it unique, and for around $ 10, is a really good deal. They have a good selection of local beers and drink specials, although since I’m usually here on my lunch break, I haven’t been able to try them yet.

One would not expect such a classy place in a small town, but The Imperial truly is a wonderful surprise. It’s just as beautiful inside as outside. I was extremely happy with my selection, Gouda Chicken with just the right amount of smoked bacon served on top of yummy mashed potatoes and a creamy mushroom sauce to die for. And I’m now a fan of roasted brussel sprouts. Who knew they could be so delicious? My Husband chose the Blackened Salmon, which was cooked perfectly and he loved it. We’ll definitely be dining there again!
