My husband and I went here for dinner last night for the first time. We decided on this restaurant based on the good reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately, we don’t have a similar review. The positives were the Men’s restroom and dining table were clean, nice layout, friendly hostess. I ordered Egg Drop Soup and Deluxe Lomein, and my husband ordered Creamy Seafood Soup and Sesame Fusion. My soup was brought to me five minutes before my husband was brought his for some reason, and then he received Creamy Corn Soup which was not what he ordered. We decided not to say anything because the waitress was difficult to understand and we didn’t feel like going down that road, plus he did like the soup. My soup honestly tasted as though half of the salt from a shaker was in it; I could barely make out the egg taste. I was hungry, so I ate some of it. My dinner was the exact same way; I could barely taste the flavors of the shrimp, chicken or beef. Everything tasted like it was bathed in salt. Yuck. My husband did receive the dinner he ordered, yet instead of a honey soy sauce like the menu states it was bathed in sweet and sour sauce. Luckily, he likes that so he ate it. The waitress returned with the bill and didn’t ask us if we wanted dessert. We felt like we were rushed through the entire visit. We won’t return.

This was my first time here. My gen. chicken was disgusting and spongey. We had a big order that was somehow done in five minutes so I’m going to assume it wasn’t fresh at all. What a waste of money, I will never come back here.

The food here is simply okay. I have had much better from Chinese restaurants located downriver(Woodhaven/Brownstown area). This restaurant is extremely over priced. A quart of veggie fried rice is 8 $. They don’t offer pint size anything. I ordered ginger garlic chicken which only came with white rice, because I wanted fried rice I felt forced to order the veggie fried rice, and 2 spring rolls(they don’t serve egg rolls) LOL; my total was $ 24.03. Also, they do not offer lunch specials or combo platters on the weekend. Lunch and combo discounts are only offered M-F noon til 3. Honestly I don’t think I’ll be returning to this establishment. I’m sure I can find much better for a lesser amount. I strongly believe the reason why this restaurant targets an expensive menu is due to its location near the wealthy residents of Canton, Plymouth, Ann Arbor, and Livonia area. They are simply taking advantage of the people in the community.

This is the best Chinese in Plymouth, Canton, Westland and Wayne. I usually order take-out but I also enjoy dining in. The atmosphere is comfortable but on the quiet side — I wouldn’t bring a young child. The food is slightly pricy but the lunch prices are great for what you get. At lunch you get an entrée, soup, appetizer and hot tea. My personal favorites are their General Tso Chicken and Crab Rangoon’s.

I aways get delivery, and they have my address saved. They are very efficient and make the best orange chicken! Delivery guy is also very nice.

I ate here for the first time today, after living in the area for 15 years! I ordered the Hunan Chicken, and it was delicious. The first thing you get when you sit down is water and a hot pot of tea. I liked that because I enjoy tea with Chinese food. Lunch comes with your choice of soup, and your choice of spring roll or crab rangoon. i got the egg drop soup, which was good. The spring roll came out with my lunch meal. It, too, was good. As for the Hunan Chicken, I liked the brown sauce quite a lot. What I appreciate is that it wasn’t overly salty, which can be a problem with some restaurants. It was tasty and seasoned well and a nice accompany to the chicken, and all the veggies. Hard to go wrong with white rice so no comment there. The spring roll was good too. The service was fast. She walked me through the menu to save me time when I just explained what I liked. My lunch bill was $ 8.95 which was a good value for the food quality and portion size. There were a lot of items on the menu I’d like to try, and I’ll definitely go back. The ambience was nice – the restroom was clean(I always take note of restrooms in restaurants). So far, I’m a fan and glad I dropped in today. I’ll go back again and post more edits to this review in time.

They have super awesome Egg Drop Soup and the service is always amazing. It has been the only Chinese restaurant I will eat at since I was a kid. They are also very fast and clean.

Over the past 25 years, restaurants have come and gone across Southeast Lower Michigan. Some were family institutions that have been handed down for more than one generation; others came and were gone within a few months, which were nothing more than a flash in a pan. Sze Chuan however, has been around for many years, and has staying power due to providing excellent quality Chinese cuisine. The first time I went to the Sze Chaun was over 15 years ago. The food was excellent, but tended to be on the pricey side, especially if you’re a college student on a budget who has to count their pennies. Nevetheless, I have always enjoyed their lunch and dinner menus, as they tend to offer a lot of dishes, and can cook your order any way that you want it prepared. A few weeks ago, I had Beef with Pea Pods that was fantastic. The food was excellent and portions were tremendous. When it was all said and done with, I had enough leftover to take with me to lunch the next day at work. Today, I had their Chicken and Shrimp with Vegetables, which was outstanding. The fried rice was very good as well. The meal came with your choice of soup, and a spring roll. I decided to choose Won Ton for the soup, which wasn’t bad at all. While it wasn’t the best bowl I’ve ever enjoyed; I’ve had far worse over the years. With that being said, I left the Sze Chuan feel full and happy this afternoon. If you’re looking for an outstanding dinning experience, and want to try some excellent Chinese food, head on over to the Sze Chuan in Canton. You will not be disapointed.

My family and I love this place! We have been eating here for over 12 years. We lived in Chicago for 8 years, and always came home to eat at Szechaun! They always know what we order and the service is always superb! Best beef fried rice, Kung pao chicken, and cashew chicken I have ever tasted!

Sze Chuan has been our GOTO Chinese Restaurant for years… But in the last 9 months their quality has gone down — noticeably so … Not sure why … In the past this place had always had high quality meals & has been as authentic as one can get in Metro-Detroit… Their long held reputation for being the best place west of 275 is in jeopardy

The fried rice here is highly recommended… comes very close to the consistency of PF changs.

This place is one of our favorites, the food is consistently fresh and tasty. We usually get the sesame chicken or the happy family, the fried rice and the lo mein noodles are always oily so we tell them to cut down the oil a little bit. It’s old-school Chinese and ain’t cheap but you pay for the quality that you get out of this establishment. Sometimes it is inconsistent and we have complained before, but they don’t listen to your complaints. They just blow you off. It is still our go to restaurant when you’re looking for good Chinese.

I had a really good plate of Sesame Chicken for lunch today at Szechuan. The sesame sauce was very sweet on the crispy breaded chicken. The crab rangoons were very good and I could have eaten a barrel full, if allowed! Good portion, VERY fast service, and if I am in the area again — I will be back! My co-worker said she drives a long distance just for this Chinese restaurant.

We were looking for a decent Chinese restaurant for a very long time after a few places lacked the quality we wanted. This place seems a cut above all the rest. I think out of all of the places I’ve ordered sesame chicken, this place does it the best. I’ve never tasted a bolder, stronger sesame chicken in all of my years eating Chinese. Their sweet and sour chicken is also immaculate. The way they fry it is perfect. It’s incredibly delicious. I have to say that their egg rolls/spring rolls are pretty disappointing, however. While their crab rangoons are out of this world, and their pork fried rice is just as amazing, their egg rolls are bland and boring. When ordering one, I expected a real fried egg roll, the big thick kind. These are tiny and compressed and not worth eating; the kind you get in the frozen food section of the supermarket. Blech. Their golden fried and peppecorn duck is also questionable. I can’t eat either dish without getting nauseous. I don’t know why this is, exactly, but it could be the huge sodium content. I mean, wow. Their duck is piled with salt. Be wary if you’re watching your sodium intake, or if you have a sensitive stomach. I can’t order either of those anymore, despite really loving duck. Still, despite those minor flaws, this place is our go-to for Chinese food. I wish their egg rolls were more authentic, but at least their rangoons are great for a side.

Good food, don’t let the exterior fool you! We had the basil chicken which had a ton of really fresh basil and the chicken and broccoli which is much lighter. They were both really good, I was glad I listened to the reviews and tried this place because I had driven by it hundreds of times and not given it a second thought until I read all the great reviews. We carried out so I can’t comment on service but the guy at the front was nice! My only complaint is the hot and sour soup wasn’t anything special. But everything else we got was awesome!

I had the General Tso’s chicken and it was very good as always. Also had the crab rangoons and those were excellent as well. They keep your water glass filled at all times and the service was very good.

I love the food and décor here, it’s like going on a vacation in my own backyard. General Suh’s Chicken will stomp out your appetite. They have fancy cocktails, as any old school good Chinese restaurant should. I still get the Kiddie Cocktail, because this place reminds me of all of the Chinese places of my youth that are gone now. Only the great ones stay, such as this place or China Star. I love this place, they keep it Rilllllll.

This is the oriental restaurant that we use as a guide to rate all others. My husband took me to this restaurant when it was in a space ¼ the size as the current size. At the time I had never eaten oriental food in a restaurant. My husband ordered us the spicy sze chuan shrimp and the general tsos chicken. You can choose how spicy you want your meal, we order it spicy not hot. When we are back in Michigan we still go to Canton just to eat this meal! They also have the best spring rolls around. We also really liked the Ann Arbor location when it was open. It was our go to lunch place when we lived in Ann Arbor. I so miss the wonton soup, it had a sliced veggie in it that to this day I can not figure out what it was but still am trying to figure it out. I hate giving this a 5 star rating cause it will make the wait to get a table go up, but they deserve it!

So Liz W. shoots me a message one day saying something to the effect of «Hey Mike, I know you like spicy Chinese food so here’s a restaurant you might want to try sometime». Liz by the way is THE Detroit area super reviewer(1000+ reviews) and is one of the most trusted in Detroit. How can I say«No»? It’s a cool old school Chinese American restaurant where everyone was really nice and welcoming. The gentleman who waited on me was fast, efficient and made some great recommendations. I ordered my benchmark hot and sour soup which was quite good with a strong pungent aroma and the flavors to match. The Hunan Shrimp lunch combo was really good too. Sze Chuan’s was very different from any other restaurant’s that I’ve had with theirs having a little red pepper, spicy black beans, onion and baby corn in it. The flavors were bold and the dish came out spicy, just like I asked for. The lunch portion comes with either an egg roll or a couple crab rangoons. Go for the crab rangoons, trust me on this one. Golden brown with plenty of tasty filling in them. You won’t be disappointed. I washed this all down with a couple cold Tsingtao’s. The Hunan Shrimp lunch combo, by the way, was priced right at just $ 8.55. Go there.
