Planet Fitness – Canton – Whipple Ave

The worst gym in the town or area. Terrible service, attitudes are horrible. I would not suggest this gym to anyone. There are way better choices in the area. Don’t get fooled by the staff they are not friendly or useful.

They continued charging me, even after I cancelled my membership!
I had the black card membership but it was hard for me to get down to the gym because I needed childcare. It was coming up on a year membership, which means I could cancel by giving them a 30-​day written notice. I sent the cancellation letter certified and they charged me for my last month, March 2015. I called a few weeks ago to make sure my membership had been cancelled, since I have heard that Planet Fitness will sometimes keep charging, even after you cancel. The girl I talked to verified through my name and membership number that my membership was indeed cancelled. And then I got charged for April. Gah!
I called them and today the gentleman on the phone said that my membership is not cancelled. I complied with their rule of a cancellation in writing at least 30 days prior to when you want your membership cancelled, sent via certified mail. I called and verified my membership was indeed cancelled. And yet they did not fulfill their end of the agreement and actually cancel my membership and stop charging my bank account.
To be fair, they have nice, clean facility and friendly staff. They also promised to make a note and have the manager reverse the charge. We shall see! If the charges are reversed, I will edit this review to reflect that I have received my money back.
UPDATE: 12 days after my erroneous charge and 3 phone calls to them later (and a return phone call from the manager — thank you!), I received my refund! I’m pleased. I asked if I would be charged for May and they said I would not, so hopefully they have taken me out of the system. Based on cleanliness of the gym, the various amenities, price of membership, and friendliness of the staff, I think they deserve 3 stars, so I have increased the stars on this review from 1 to 3. I wouldn’t give them more than that because of the fact that I had a hassle to cancel my membership (certified mail and still being charged and having to call several times and wait for a refund).

Nice place to work out for the average person. There are a lot of small problems, but the main items are taken care of. They presently have five treadmills not working, the toilet area smells most of the time, shower handle fell off today, the showers kick down when a toilet is flushed. The positive is they are replacing some TV’s and they said new treadmills are on order. Not a bad place to work out for the price.

I’m loving my PF membership. I’m so not a morning person, but at PF, I can work out after work (after 11pm). I have the black card, so I can also use the tanning booths, massage chairs, or the aqua massage beds. The staff is always very friendly, the gym is clean, and thank heavens, it doesn’t smell all sweaty! I could barely handle the «gym smell» at Bally’s. The things I wish were different would be having it open all night on weekends, or at least on Friday night. And, it would be great if when I brought in a guest, that they could pay a dollar or something to use the massage beds or chairs along with me. Overall, I haven’t regretted my membership at PF.

Not a bad place, but the options are limited (virtually no free weights). The day fee is ridiculous at $ 20 for what you get.
