A good choice if you’re trying to avoid the chain restaurants and support local businesses. Huge salads, good meatballs, broasted chicken, a variety of pasta dishes, pizza, the options are many here. Try the hay and straw. Service is always too slow. Grossed out today because a server kept playing with a diner’s hair, must have been his girlfriend but eeewwwwwww. Glad he wasn’t covering my table!

Overall we were somewhat let down with our dinners. We ordered calamari as an appetizer(~$ 12) which seemed on the small side portion-wise. It was a little too greasy/crunchy for my liking, and it was served with something that tasted like cocktail sauce(not the best combination in my opinion). I ordered the white clam sauce over linguine with a side salad(~$ 17) and he ordered the porkchop dinner with a side of vegetables(~$ 16). My pasta was pretty bland… It just tasted like olive oil and garlic(it did have lots of chopped clams, so that was nice). I was expecting a stronger clam taste in the sauce, but it really didn’t come through. My side salad(which I was pleasantly surprised came with olives, cucumbers, and a peperoncini pepper) was way overdressed, so I should have asked for dressing on the side(it was like blue cheese dressing soup with lettuce leaves). His porkchops(came with 2) were very thin and dry. His vegetables were just the boiled(frozen) vegetable medley kind, so he was disappointed in that as well. I feel for the same price, you could get much better tasting entrees elsewhere. Our waitress was very nice, but I doubt we’ll be coming back.

Always good food. Best pizza in Canton but also has a full Italian menu. Service can be a little slow and seem forced to be friendly. But worth it for the food. :)

My daughter and I were in the area on Labor Day, and wanted to have a nice lunch at the bar. Laurie was the bartender and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. As crazy as it sounds eating at an Italian place is always a challenge as I am allergic to garlic and onions. Laurie was wonderful about helping me find things that I could eat. She even went to the kitchen to find something for me. I hope to visit this restaurant the next time I am in the Canton area

Maybe the problem was that we did not order pizza, but instead our party of 7 each ordered our own entrée. In addition, we had 3 appetizers: the fried mushrooms, fried asparagus and pizza frietz. I don’t eat ‘shrooms so I can’t comment. The fried asparagus was pretty much what one would expect and the pizza frietz are basically donut holes. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either. My brodo pastina soup had good flavor but lacked even a single carrot. Others at the table got the salad with their entrée and said that although they were big, they weren’t really noteworthy. My entrée was Papa Bear’s Linguine and Lemon Chicken which is described on the menu as «two 4oz chicken breasts, lightly breaded and sautéed with a hint of lemon, served with linguine sautéed in a light wine sauce». I asked the server if it resembled chicken picatta and he responded by reading the menu description to me. Gee, thanks, no help there. Anyway, my meal came out and had ZERO lemon flavor. It was garnished with two lemon slices that I had to use to give it any lemon flavor whatsoever, but still, the harshness of fresh lemon without the accompaniment of cream, wine, etc. is not the way to go. The wine sauce had no wine. It was oil and italian herbs — straight up. I told the server that my entire dish was dry and flavorless, and he offered to bring me more wine sauce. It was a nice gesture, but completely worthless given that I received again — oil and herbs. Other people at the table tried the sauce too — I wasn’t imagining it. My husband ordered the bracciole, a tender flank steak that’s stuffed, rolled and baked in red sauce. He asked what it was stuffed with. The server listed a few items(breadcrumbs, broth, onion) and said«I think that’s it. I’m not sure.» *sigh* It was ordered anyway and was pretty lackluster in taste. My kids got the chicken fingers and fries. Neither ate them. I was shocked… until I tried one myself. How does one make chicken fingers tasteless? Just ask Papa Bears because they’ve figured out a way. Other entrees ordered were veal saltimbocca, sausage and pappers, and the pork chop dish. Every single person was completely underwhelmed with their meal. I guess looking back now, the entrees were under $ 20.00 and given that they came with rolls, soup/salad and in some cases a side of pasta, the lack of quality should’ve been anticipated given the price point. We came from out of town and were recommended this restaurant by a family member who lives in the area, so perhaps our expectations were too high. Either way, I can’t pass along the recommendation to any other out-of-towners or locals for that matter. Servers should know the menu or at least offer to get info if it’s unknown. Meals should be more flavorful than those at a retirement home.

Terrible service. Terrible pizza. Terrible pasta. The greasiest calamari I’ve ever eaten. We literally waited 20 minutes just to have our drink order taken. We definitely won’t be going back.

I absolutely hate having to give one star, but that’s exactly what Papa Bears deserves! My son and I arrived in town and asked our hotel front desk to recommend a local eatery. Without hesitation, Papa Bears was offered up and we set out with high anticipation! We arrived smack in the middle of the Sunday dinner rush, so we expected our service to be a bit slow. We were seated and immediately ordered two sodas and a fried mushroom appetizer. The soda was warm and flat, and the cups were small and had little ice. Instead of bringing a pitcher to refill our drinks, our server waited until our cups were empty before asking if we would like another… like we were drinking rum with our soda! I asked our server to bring each of us two drinks instead of one since she was having a hard time keeping our glasses full. Eventually she did, but when she was placing our drinks, she literally put her nose into our cups to smell which drink was which! My son ordered a simple spaghetti with meat sauce and tortellini soup while I opted for linguine & lemon chicken. My entrée came with a salad and I asked for a caesar. I was promptly told that I could only have a house salad. I reiterated that I wanted a caesar and moved on to ordering some garlic cheese bread for us to share. My salad arrived and I was surprised that I was given a huge bowl of salad with stale croutons. My sons soup was served in a small oddly shaped bowl and consisted of broth and two small tortellinis. Sadly, our dinner entrees weren’t much better. The«meat» sauce that was served with my sons spaghetti barely had any meat in it, and was bland. The linguine that was supposedly cooked in olive oil and garlic barley had any garlic taste to it. I had to church it up by adding red pepper flakes, salt and parmesan. My chicken, though quite lemony, was cooked well and tasted pretty good. I won’t be returning.

If you want one if the best sausage and hot pepper pizza this is the place. Only other joint that has as good or better is Lindsey’s Pizza. The veal and green peppers are also excellent. The salads they serve are significant.

One of my favorite places, and the place my extended family always picks when we get together. Really great homemade Italian food. Pizza is always a winner, totally unique and tasty. Tip– order pepperoni on top, it gets crispy– so good. Favorites of mine are the chicken parmesan, chicken feta, and the baked ziti. Also, I think their cheeseburger is one of the best kept secrets in Canton, you might not think to order it but it is always amazing.

Canton, Ohio has pizza places like San Diego has Mexican restaurants. They are all over. But no two pizza places are the same. Enter Papa Bears Pizza Oven. I am only reviewing their food delivery service. Calling our order in. We received our food hot and in a timely manner. We ordered pizza, potato wedges, hot wings and something in a box I didn’t see what was inside. I also didn’t call in the order so I wasn’t sure what everything was ordered. I did pay though so it seemed like a lot of food for 40 to 50 dollars. I myself just had the pizza and wings. The square pizza served in sliced squares had a nice dough with pepperoni, sausage and mushroom toppings. With tons of mozzarella cheese melted on top made the slices very chewy and satisfying. As our group ate. Very little words were exchanged as everyone were enjoying their pizza. I even went into my happy dance as I ate slice after slice. A total of three slices. Next was the breaded hot wings. The biggest plumpest wings I have ever eaten. The chicken was juicy and the tangy taste is reminiscent of Franks Red Hot Sauce. Paired with bleu cheese dressing. The wings were a hit. As far as delivery, I would order Papa Bears Pizza Oven weekly for dinner. Great pizza. Outstanding hot wings. Pretty fast delivery considering we ordered tons of food. On top of that. Very affordable. This place is a winner.

This place made me my favorite pasta dish and didn’t blink an eye — or insult me about my desire for something so plain. Spinach fettuccine in butter with parmesan on the side and I was 10 years old again. Hard to find a spot that has my beloved«green noodles» — or who will accommodate such an unusual request. Everyone was impressed with their food; each of us had modifications to make to the meals and all were served quickly and correctly. Good experience overall.

This is my first trip to Canton. I’m so glad I came otherwise I may not have tried this wonderful pizza. The crust is soft with some crunch and a bit of oil on it. The sausage is perfect and crumbly. Pepperoni has a small spice to it. This pizza rates just under Genos pizza in Chicago. I highly recommend it!

The food was very good. You cannot go wrong with any pasta dish. Even the appearance of the meal was great! The service was average. Our waitress was nice, but she was not very personable. She responded when we sparked a conversation, but did not go out of her way to be friendly. Overall, great food and slightly above average service. A great place for families, colleagues, and friends! Check it out at least once.

The food just wasn’t that good and it was expensive. The pizza was really bad. If this is the same pizza that they serve at their pizza oven locations, then avoid those too. It was like a smaller version of a cheap sheet pizza. Lackluster sauce and the cheese was transparent and flavorless.

Pizza: 5 Stars — Restaurant: 4 stars Total: Rounded to 5 I grew up in Canton, but had family in Columbus and growing up I grew to love Columbus style pizzas rather than those favored in NEOhio. Pizza Oven pizzas were always the exception to that rule, and in fact Pizza Oven makes my favorite pizza regardless of location or style. My favorite pie is pepperoni and sausage. It may be a little greasy for some, but I like it this way. The sausage is crumbled and goes edge to edge. This combination along with the sauce brings a little bit of spiciness to the pizza. The cheese is sliced and also covers edge to edge but does not overpower the other toppings. The crust is thick on the edges but tapers quickly almost to NY style thickness(although this is not a NY style pizza). The pies are rectangular shaped as are the pieces. The restaurant itself is nice, but I don’t really care for their other menu items. As a result, we almost always get pizza.

This place is really not good. I went with and family of four at 4:30. It was a little early so we should have gotten great service and a fast meal. However… It is huge, there are a ton of rooms and tables. But the hostess set us at the table right next to the front door and hostess station. I expected it to be drafty and loud, so I asked to get moved into one of the many empty rooms of tables. The hostess also lacked any personality. Our waitress was the bast part of the evening. She was pleasant and funny. The plating was TERRIBLE! It looked like a grade school chef was cooking and plating our food. I had stuffed shells and all three of my jumbo shells were on one side of my plate. No garnish or presentation. There was sauce all over the rims of the plates, odd spacing, weirdly shaped bowls. Just plain terrible. Have they never seen any show on Bravo or Gordon Ramsey? And then we had 6 or 7 teenage busboys starting at us for half our meal because it was slow and they had nothing to do but stand facing us, in a line. STOPLOOKINGATMEEAT! I doesn’t matter what it looks like because if the food and service is shoddy, who cares. As we were leaving the head of the family looked across the street and said«We should have just gone to Mulligans.» We should have just gone to Mulligans.

The weirdest excuse for a pizza I have ever tasted. «Sausage» is a disgusting LAYER of poorly seasoned ground beef not to mention the crust, while pleasantly crunchy is far too yeasty. I felt dirty after attempting to eat this and very regretful. for spending $ 16 on delivery.

Best pizza in OH! With service that has ranked from passable to miserable and food that’s quality is a see-saw as well, this pizza has been consistently fantastic with every bite — and not only from the Papa Bears location — at every carry out location ad well. Great sauce. Love the wings. It’s worth 50 minutes round trip to bring home a pizza from Pizza Oven.
