This place was awesome! Friendly and helpful service. I was greeted and given brief pointers on what yarn was where, then left to browse for awhile. She came back to check on me and gave me suggestions as I was torn on what yarn to purchase for my project. They also offered to wind up my yarn for me with their 2 electric swifters, which as the other reviewer mentioned, never happens in the cities. There was a lovely, sunny sitting area in the front of the store, and someone was working on a project there the whole time(although she came and helped wind my yarn as my purchase was rung up by who I believe to be the owner). I took a picture of a sign they had at the register, about their ability to help with project questions! Will definitely be stopping here whenever I go visit the in-laws in Wisconsin.

Great little gem! Needed yarn to start/finish a quick project, on my way home to near Rochester. Lo and behold, found Yarnation! PERFECT! Staff/owner was SO helpful and so personable and friendly. And great to find a yarn shop between the cities and Rochester, she she is plumb full of yarn. Can’t wait til I stop again!

The Twin Cities has many many yarn shops to choose from and most of them are out of this world with merchandise. But once you pass Rosemount MN you generally hit a no-mans land with yarn availability — with a huge stretch from Rosemount to Rochester being positively barren of yarn and needles. Until now! FINALLY there is a shop open off of the Highway 52 corridor in Southern MN! In the charming town of Cannon Falls MN(wine anyone?) there is now a sweet little yarn den open for your knitting and crochet needs. We stopped in there on a lazy Saturday and poked around. They have Lion Brand, Brown Sheep, Berroco, and bunches of other brands. I was happy to pick up some Local Alpaca from a farm in Cannon Falls — I always love finding yarn from local farms that I cannot find anywhere else! They had some lovely needles — I found the size 13 Double Points I needed for the hat I wanted to make and a pair of Brittany Rosewoods followed me home as well. The owner and her daughters were very friendly and offered to ball my yarn up for me.(Something that is rare in the cities — I can’t remember the last time someone offered!) Really just a lovely time. I could see making a day of this with stopping at the local winery as well. The shop does not appear to have a website, but you can check out their wonderful photo’s of the shop on their Facebook Page.
They have only just opened this month — so I suspect the shop will continue to grow. I look forward to seeing what they have going on my next visit!
