Bathrooms were absolutely DISGUSTING. With a state park as busy as this one, you would think someone might be coming by more than once a day to restock and clean. There was actual human crap smeared across the floors and garbage and toilet paper all over. People can be so disgusting. They had a working phone booth in the parking lol — lol — haven’t seen one of those for years! Great place to park and spend the day but it is very crowded, so to get some peace, you would need to walk south away from Haystack rock and the state park entrance.

I think this park is the closest large parking area to Haystack Rock. You only have to walk a few steps to get to the big rock. There isn’t a lot of free parking along the road way next to the beach or several access points are blocked by houses so it’s nice to be able to park here in a safe location and just get access right to the beach. There are restrooms and a pay phone on site as well as a playground for the kids. I did like that at least in the men’s room they have waterless urinals in order to conserve water. This is a day use only park so it appears there is no overnight camping but it’s free to park. There is plenty of areas to throw out a blanket for a picnic and there is a bus drop off right on the edge of the parking lot. There are also a few restaurants near the parking area, but you may want to head more into the city of Cannon Beach and just walk the strip for a decent restaurant.

This park has a good-sized parking lot, beach access, and bathrooms. Great view too! There’s also a small playground for children who detest the beach and getting sand in their underpants. This lot fills up quickly in the summer, so get here early. The park south of Haystack Rock which is about a 1-mile walk on the beach. Also, Mo’s is just steps from here! Chowder bonus.
