Fast, friendly service. Yummy clam chowder with a nice creamy sauce and chunks of clams. We had a giant burger with cheese and fried egg, and a salmon Caesar salad too big to finish. Both were delicious and very satisfying. Wonderful atmosphere with lots of wood, nice music, and a fireplace. Recommended!

Mediocre food and inattentive service. Big fire place in middle is cool, but not worth the money if you are hungry. There are lots of other restaurants in the area that are better. Avoid if you can.

I signed up for Unilocal to warn you. The food was mediocre at best. I expect and get better burgers at chain restaurants. They seem proud of their famous Bloody Mary’s. Their signs say try it and you will love it. I liked the pickled asparagus garnish, but the rest was quite forgettable.

AMAZING sweet potato pancakes! Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable, too. This place really helped make our trip to Cannon Beach wonderful.

Food was 4 stars, service and ambiance was 3 stars. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, which was surprisingly good(I was worried considering the overall rating of this restaurant). The homemade fries were also delicious. My husband had an omelette that he enjoyed, and we were excited to see that they also had gluten free bread options for toast. Service was spotty. It fluctuated between very attentive, and then really slow. Just like a couple of other reviewers, we were waiting in the entryway for a number of minutes prior to being seated. Ambiance was kitschy, but being in a historic building was neat. It would have been nice if they had taken down all of their Christmas decorations after the season — it looks like a couple were just missed as they seemed out of place? We came on an 80 degree day, and it was quite warm inside; not sure if they have air conditioning.

Love love love this place. Must stop whenever I’m on the coast. Best bacon anywhere– and Armando himself made us Armando’s Famous Bloody Mary! Love having breakfast in front of the fire before a day on the beach.

We love this place for breakfast! We have been going there for 10+ years and it never disappoints. They also have the best coffee! Our kids love it there too, very family friendly.

Absolutely the worse food ever but the service was good. The looks of the place far out exceed the food. The burgers we ordered were frozen patties that were way over cooked. And the fries were saturated in grease! The two glasses of wine we ordered were clearly poured from an old bottle because of the sediment floating in the glass. I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Great place to have brunch. Food was good, and the Bloody Marys were amazing! Definitely keep this on the list for coming back.

Atmosphere! Lovely place for comfort and nostalgia and old time classic themes. Ultimate favorite is their partner Camp18 along the highway on the way to the coast. A must stop…

We went at peek dinner time on a Saturday. We waited at the host stand for a while. My side salad came first and the ranch tasted heavily of mayo. I ordered a pot roast and the meat was super dry. Luckily there was gravy to make it edible.

Service was miserable. Furniture was rickety, like wondering if the chair might fall apart rickety. We got seated in the back room and nobody was assigned to us. The head waiter started an argument with us about how long we had waited to be visited. Here’s a heads-up: don’t split hairs with furious and neglected customers. Will never return.

Morris’ doesn’t need your business. Apparently they have enough overflow traffic of desperately hungry people that they can leave you waiting at the host stand for 15 min without as much as a «Hello, we’ll be with you in moment.» They can seat you in a back room and completely ignore you for 10 min, then get angry and argue with you when you pop out to make sure you weren’t forgotten. I’m a very diplomatic person, and I understand when a place is understaffed. I’m also very patient, but when a waiter argues with me loudly and tells me I’m saying things that aren’t true, then continued to belabor the point when he came to take our order, he’s clearly telling me he doesn’t need my business.(I was careful to check the time to be sure I was accurate — but let’s assume for moment I was wrong: you still don’t yell at customer.) He’ll be happy to know I won’t ever be back.

I like it. Hadn’t been in Morris’ since I was a kid. I’ll be going back on the regular. Our food was excellent. Shared a Crab Louie and each had a cup of chowder. Bloody Marys were amazing and full of tasty vegetables and prosciutto wrapped cheese. Our server was prompt and friendly. The fireplace was cozy.

Seriously avoid this place! Terrible service. Cold dining room. The worst excuse for bread pudding ever! had one bite & pushed it to the side. The owner came by & cleared it without questioning why I didn’t eat it or offering a substitution. My eggs tasted like gas flame & were gross. Amazing it’s still in business. We are kicking ourselves for not reading Unilocal before we went in. Would have saved us a miserable hour.

Quiet intimate alcoves in & around the fireplace. Loved the thick clam chowder and the salad was fresh with extra touches

I really am not too sure why this place only has such a low average score. This is one of the best resturaunts around here, and deserves a higher rating. The only thing that isn’t that great is the service, which isn’t bad, just awkward. All the food was fresh and quite good as well. I wouldn’t have any problem with coming back here, but it is pretty average. Nothing was incredible. I highly reccomend the calm chowder, one of the best things there. TL;DR: Pretty good and one of the best in the area.

Whenever I am in Cannon Beach, I am lured into Morris’ Fireside by the charming building. Like a siren song, it sings to me. Like a sailor, I crash into the reef. The restaurant is in a historic building, built of stones and logs, with a massive fireplace inside the dining room, set on old wood floors, log cabin walls, and offering sweet touches like the giant teddy bears seated at the entrance. Sadly, though, something is just a bit off about everything. For all the charm of the place, nobody is keeping an eye on things; tonight I spotted a crumpled paper napkin on the floor, out in the open, and the remnants of a sugar packet and dropped menu under another table. Perhaps the staff or, heck, a manager might notice and attend to the details … They show. The server was nice enough, but clearly was in need of some coaching in terms of making guests feel welcome, suggesting things, and so on. He got the job done and was certainly nice enough, but I expect a bit more when the prices are as high as they are at Fireside. The ambiance, similarly, feels lackluster: so few tables were occupied that I wondered how they make any money, and the few that were occupied made me wonder, given the demographics of the patrons and the prices, if they offer significant discounts for seniors. The menu is uninspired. I got lucky on this visit with a meatloaf sandwich, which was tasty and served on nice grilled bread. Their«famous» steak cut fries are mushy, bland, and awful. My daughter had the spaghetti with marinara and pronounced it «watery.» It’s so sad, because the building is so lovely, and so well-located, that a well-run restaurant could do incredibly well in this spot, in season. One can only hope the management will wake up and see the potential. Until that happens, though, there are better(and cheaper) options on Hemlock Street.

What the hell? I am stunned by distribution of reviews for Morris’ Fireside Restaurant, an icon in Cannon Beach which happens to be located in a historic building. Getting right to to the point, I was initially going to go with 3 stars(a-ok) because the prices are a little higher than what the combo of food usually fetches, but each of the items on the breakfast platter was larger than average and of high quality. Seriously, it made for a delicious breakfast. Therefore, I’m going to nudge them over to 4 stars. I would definitely look forward to eating here when in Cannon Beach again. The only reason I’m holding off on the 5th star was the price of putting that breakfast combo together with the side order(s), namely the hash browns. Morris’ Fireside Restaurant was fairly full and people were chowing down, the service was totally acceptable, there was nothing out of the ordinary about the experience, and the quaint building it occupies made for a nice ambiance for an abundant down-home breakfast.
