This store is full of cool stuff and very nice people. This review is specifically about their birthday party space/service. The employees were very kind as I made the reservation for a 6th birthday party. Once we were there, they made sure we had everything we needed. The kids had fun, but for $ 150 for two hours, I feel like our experience should have been better than this: — There’s no staff guidance/facilitation at all. I know the party agreement refers to it as «free play» but there’s nothing so much as a run-down of where everything is and how to use it. I had to ask for someone to come back and help while kids fiddled with the race track. — The race track(a big swooping downhill track all along one wall) had bolts sticking up about two-thirds of the way down the track so that the cars the kids had worked on building literally exploded into pieces every-other-time they sent it down the track. — We weren’t given any«choice of movies”(as the website says) to play on the TV in the party area. Further, there appeared to be a problem with the TV as the picture was grainy/unclear and had lines running through it. — The minifig building session was a bust. The parts they use for this activity are obviously garbage/cast-off parts that they can’t otherwise sell. Some of them were literally dirty, and there weren’t enough pieces to easily complete figures — even as adults trying to help the kids find pieces to finish their figures before the time was up. A few of the kids left with minifigs that were missing a hand. My daughter enjoyed her party, that’s all that matters, and I would not go so far as to not bring other business there if I’m in the market for lego gifts, but I would definitely NOT recommend this pace for a birthday party.

I decided to purge stuff from the house, and gathered up all my childhood Lego’s for a trip to BAM to sell them. My kids were now grown, and no longer interested in toys, so it was time to let them go. At the time I had no idea of the value of Lego’s but I knew I loved them as a kid. I was offered a decent cash payment, but a larger in-store credit. My wife wasn’t standing next to me so I took the in-store credit(my childhood was rushing back to me with the sound of Lego sorting going on in the store). Fast forward a few years, and several thousands of dollars, I have a dedicated Lego room in my house. I recently came out of the closet as an AFOL(Adult Fan of Lego), and I owe my new found joy, sanity, and relaxation to the non-judgmental team at Canby BAM.

After years of buying Legos here, my son sold half of his collection back to BAM today. The same lovely service he received when buying here happened again when he was selling today. Even though it was Spring Break busy this afternoon, the service was graceful, confident and calm. We’ve spent a lot of happy time here and love this thriving business. Even with the horrid parking lot, BAM is a gem.

Ok as I mentioned in my Beaverton review I visited both stores on the same day. I had visited this store a few days prior during the week. Weekday parking lot seemed adequate but this visit on a weekend I felt lucky to find a spot. I’d imagine the birthday party had something to do with it. That’s my only negative comment and I found a spot so it’s «all good». Big store. Lots of breathing space. Pleasant shopping experience. Nice selection of sets. Lots of completed sets to gaze at. Great selection of mini figures. Well staffed so you have all the help you need. I got Emmet with his waffle sitting on his double decker couch for $ 10. Felt like I was getting more for my money. Independent figures I was choosing from ranged from $ 5 to $ 15. I ended up reaching the $ 100 threshold and earned a $ 6 credit. Guess I enjoyed myself! Must see for Lego lovers.

Holy Lego Batman(he’s only $ 5)! My son would spend hours in here if I could afford it. After about 30 minutes, he’s got a wish list consisting of about $ 300 worth of sets, mini-figures and Lego clocks and carrying cases. We held his birthday here a year and a half ago and the kids absolutely loved it. Each kid got to make one or two of their own mini-figures to take home. They sat and played with legos in their little party room, played the X-box — there may be a Playstation too? I believe the package price included some décor but we brought a lot of our own stuff in. The kids had a blast. They used to have a punch card for a free mini-figure after you bought 10, I believe. They’ve replaced it with another email frequent shopper program which seems like it’s still pretty valuable. The owner is a super nice guy — he attended my sons party in a complete Lego figure get up, pretty funny and the kids really enjoyed it. Their used sets are reasonably priced, but I think my only complaint(and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that their new sets seem to be awfully overpriced. I was shopping around Christmas time and found that the same sets here were much more expensive than the same sets at the Lego Store at the Washington Square Mall. Fred Meyer and Toys R Us seem to be best priced for the Lego sets. HOWEVER, that being said, Bricks and Minifigs has many sets that you will not find at the Lego Store in Tigard or any other place for that matter. Lots of cool sets from the early 90’s that are still unopened! Great prices on bulk Legos. I’ve never seen a larger or more intriguing collection of Legos in my LIFE. Check it out. It’s a pretty awesome place… says the 5 year old in me.

I love this place. I go here with my daughter and it keep us both entertained for hours. The bulk bins are great and you can find really unusual sets.

The new flagship store just opened a few weeks ago in Canby and is about 10 times larger than their original location across the street. Everything is bigger and better, with the addition of party space, vending machines, a lounge and XBOX play station. They even have large display cases with pre-assembled Lego collections for sale. This last part amuses me since assembly is kind of the point. Truly a flagship location and a must visit for any Lego fan in the area.
