Was paying way too much for oil heat five months out of the year and so did some digging for geothermal. Reached out to Eagle Mountain to give me a quote and was sufficiently pleased with the pricing to move forward.
Issue # 1 — Since they don’t install, they provided contact information for an installer in my area that they had used in the past. Still not sure if this was a bona fide bait-and-switch, but that«recommended installer» gave me a quote that I based my decision to move forward with geothermal on. In hindsight shame on me for not paying attention to the discrepancy(his quote was $ 15k vs the others from $ 45k to $ 60k). So when I finally purchased the equipment and had it delivered, that«recommended installer» conveniently disappeared. Issue #2 — Warranty on equipment is only one year. Some items didn’t make it beyond a year-and-a-half. BEWARE Issue #3 — When replacing some items, Eagle Mountain shipment didn’t reach us and they blamed us(apparently the customer is not always right). Issue #4 — I’ve since signed on with a local geothermal company that I am really happy with for ongoing service and maintenance. Their initial audit revealed that the system that Eagle Mountain sold me was right on the threshold of full capacity; so poorly matched design to the house. All in all, the experience with geothermal has been positive, but I desperately wish that I could have used almost any other company. If you use Eagle Mountain, I wish you the best of luck… but you’ve been warned.
