$ 7.77 for prime rib. Just waiting on my friends so we can pig out. Then we are off to campout for rest and relaxation. I just finished working all day and night, so its time for a nooner.

Pretty typical diner fare. I got a breakfast sandwich with hash browns. Hash browns were pretty good sandwich was average. The smell of tobacco from the casino was a little distracting. Service was fine.

We stopped in just for the prime rib special. I’m going to get right to the point. For 7.77 it was bomb baby. Some of these reviews are cracking me up. You can’t expect a 5 star setting at a combo meal price lol so… For $ 7.77 we got a good size portion of meat, a side or steamed green beans and carrots, choice of baked potato, mashed potatoes or fries and a yummy roll. Was it worth it? HELLYA! Would we go back? HELLYES! Would we worry about all the minor things there were that ruin peoples opinion because they expect too much? HELL No… Take it for what it is. Its a casino(yes there will be smoke), its a busy restaurant(there might be a wait, that’s a good sign), the food and drinks are cheap(most beer under $ 3) Yay! All 5 of us(2 adults and 3 kids… Yes even the kids liked it) left with full bellies, happy taste buds and an overall great memory :) Happy dining :)

The service was extremely lacking. The customer did not come first. Here is what happened. So I come with a party of two, walk up to seating and am told to sit at either of two open seats. I sit with my party, and we don’t have a service for about 15 minutes. We go ask the people at the front if a server could come by, they tell us that it is a 40 min wait to be seated now(even though we had been seated) and hand us a disk. The server comes by gets our drink order. Then another employee comes by and states that we have to move, even though we have been seated, and leave the restaurant because their is a 40 minute wait to be seated. I tell her the lady at the front desk seated us, and the Seater didn’t care. This was despite the incoming party of two, who was deemed to take my table, could have sat at the empty table that was right next to ours. So after arguing with the Seater that the lady at the front had sat me, we left and went to the Deli, completely fed with the rudeness and lack of service. Then after waiting for the Deli to make our food, I go back and check and the table next to were I was sitting and it is still empty. It honestly felt that I, as the customer, was caught in miscommunication and a pissing match between employees at the restaurant. While I have to admit the food prices are very good at this restaurant, the service more then made up for any cost savings in how poor and unprofessional it was.

The customer service at the restaurant is the only good customer service in the whole casino. Our weightress was very fast and kind. the cashiers, bingo instructors, etc are just straight up rude and stuck up. I got a ceaser salad with chicken and it was really good. My Grandma got the prime rib deal and enjoyed her meal as well. I didn’t give the restaurant 5 stars because the strong cigarette smell gave me a headache.

Reason for the 4 stars is the heavy smoke smell, literally got a headache from it. Food was delicious and customer service was great. I would come again.

The food here is pretty good considering that you are dining in a bankrupt casino! Yes, the Golden Acorn is currently operating under re-organization. Nevertheless, the Golden Grill Restaurant is a solid bet. When really hungry, I enjoy the $ 7.77 Prime Rib special. At this price, you might not expect much from the cut. Denny’s(I believe) had a deal like this a number of years ago and the prime rib was almost inedible. But the Golden Grill provides a generous cut along with a baked potato and fresh vegetables. My only complaint is that the vegetables are sometimes a bit overcooked. Their burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads are all pretty good. I’ve tried a variety of menu items and have never left hungry. Refills on sodas, ice tea, coffee, etc. are free. The best thing about the Golden Grill is its location. There’s basically nothing around here except for the casino. So next time you’re passing through East County, don’t hesitate to give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed!

Good Casino Food. Smoke from Casino can be distracting. The $ 7.77 Prime Rib was awesome. Wish I had time to try the similar priced Indian Taco. Maybe next pass through

I’m really impressed with the Golden Grill Restaurant. It is in the middle of a smoky casino, true, but the quality and flavor of their food, especially the $ 7.77 prime rib special is fantastic. My husband and I ate here with our toddler, and our bill was less than $ 20. We could easily spend more than that at McDonald’s. I got the prime rib with mashed potatoes, veggies, salad and a roll. They did not skimp at all on the portion size, and the meat was incredibly tender and flavored well. My husband got a patty melt and fries. He said it was good, but he couldn’t finish all of his food. We both left with happy bellies and a happy wallet.

Great value $ 7.77 for Prime Rib, potatoes and vegetables with dinner rolls. I liked it. Won $ 50 here on 2 pulls of a slot machine lol. Nice stop on way out to Arizona. Very smoky in the casino though and you wreak even if just passing through quickly.

I live in Campo and had two friends visiting my fiancé and I from Vista. We wanted a good meal and decided to take them to Golden Acorn. They liked the $ 7.77 Prime Rib we mentioned. My girlfriend had the Prime Rib and really liked it. I had the Country Fried Steak and Mash. I ate every bite! Actually, we all finished our entire meal. I was happy with the bill too. Not bad pricing for being so full and satisfied. The only down side was where we were sat. They sat us at the table right next to the opening doors to the kitchen. A couple times when a server walked out, the door would hit my friends chair. It happened 3 times, and it wasn’t a tap, it was a bang. My friend was getting a little upset over it and I was gonna say something to the manager but luckily it happened only 3 times. I think by the 3rd time someone noticed cause they stopped opening the door so abruptly. Also, our server seemed so down. She didnt really smile or make eye contact. But that didnt really matter to us. We all were very polite and smiles to her. Maybe she was having a bad day and we can all relate to that. She wasn’t rude or anything, just seemed down. I’m a server myself and I know how a busy shift with assholes for customers can be like. We tipped her well hoping that might make her day. We will be back! My friends too!

My wife and I were driving down the freeway headed home, and were attracted to the Golden Acorn by a sign for a $ 7.77 prime rib meal. Inside, we found a rather sleazy casino operation with the usual old ladies cranking the slots and a smell of smoke everywhere. The Golden Grill restaurant is towards the back of the casino — it’s clean and decent looking, and because we were there in off-hours, we got right in. I understand that it can be very busy at other times. The waiter took a while to come, but when he did, he knew that we were in for the Prime Rib, and told us that we were«in for a great meal package.» He asked about how we’d like our meat, what kind of potato we wanted, and whether we wanted soup or salad, and whether we wanted Ice tea, coke or other soda. Sounded great. The food was only«OK.» It was a decent value, but nothing to rave about. I would give the food itself a 3 star rating. But what brought it down was that they make it out like it includes everything, but then charge extra for things at the end. The way he asked us about drinks appeared to mean that it was all inclusive. But it wasn’t. It’s a couple of bucks per person for a drink. So – it’s obvious that the Prime Rib doesn’t make them a lot of money, and they try to «pump up» the bill with drinks and deserts. Except, it’s up to the waiters to sneak it all under the radar — that is, until you get your check. We spoke to the manager, and he said he’d refund the two drink charges. Then, he came back later and said that he couldn’t take them off, that we’d need to «talk to the Chef.» This«Chef» came out of the back — the guy is clearly the boss — and told me what a good deal we had, and why he wasn’t going to refund us on the two drinks. It was ridiculous. They lost us forever as customers, and others who we will warn off of the Golden Acorn for many years, all because of less than $ 4 in beverage charges. My guess is that they attract zillions of people driving down Interstate 8 who want that Prime Rib special. Please, read this review. Keep driving. It’s not worth the hassle. Let’s show«Chef» that people can not be manipulated like animals. At least, when you go into the Golden Grill and order your Prime Rib, remember you MUST not fall prey as we did to the«great meal package» comments. You’re paying for anything else on that table besides the meat and potatoes.

Nice! We decided to eat dinner early on our drive from Carlsbad to New Mexico. My bf had not had casino prime rib in a while, so when we saw the sign for $ 7.99 prime rib dinners we immediately exited. The restaurant was clean, service was quick and the prime rib was cooked perfect! Can’t ask for anything better at that price. I look forward to another visit.

We ate at the Golden Grill just last night and we had a good experience. I’ve been going to the Golden Grill for years now. In general, the Golden Grill offers reasonably priced food with good portions. I had the club sandwich and I’m sure my wife and I could have shared the plate and we both would have been full. I absolutely had to take half of the club sandwich home. My wife had the $ 7.77 prime rib. The prime rib was a good size and was delicious. Definitely worth the $ 7.77. My daughter, on the other hand, ordered the spaghetti from the kids menu and she didn’t like it. I thought the spaghetti had maybe a little too much oregano for my taste. We brought this to the attention to our waiter who relayed the info to the Golden Grill manager who immediately offered us a substitution for chicken tenders at no extra cost. The manager even threw in an extra order of fries at no extra cost! Daughter loved the tenders. I would definitely go back.

Today the hubs and I were going to El Centro, so decided to stop there for lunch, since we saw the $ 7.77 prime rib. My husband ordered it and I ordered the fish and chips. He loved the rib and I thought the fish and chips were not too bad. Great service. Well almost. The waitress forgot the dinner rolls, but otherwise great experience. I would go back there.
