The Asian woman in front desk was so unfriendly and inpatient when I came in as a walk-​in and inquired some information. After I filled up the application form, she asked me to show SSN card. I told her I left it in my home, then she was very rude to tear my application form as she didn’t want to get a complaint if my information was stolen by someone.

This is a fantastic idea and great people, if you need retraining it is unfortunately very slow process, I am not sure if that is in the design of the program, the lack of funding or what. Relying on unemployment to carry you through is risky at best.

For those in need to search for work, create a resume, want to enroll in their free workshops. this is a good place to start and it’s totally FREE! I came in as a walk-​in and the guy that helped me was friendly, welcoming, and even checked on me to make sure I was ready to go. Upon receiving any sort of assistance, they do check your ID and SS#.
The process is basically this– you check in, you use the computer (free after you request a lab access card from the talent coach), talk to a representative briefly about the process and what to expect, take a quick assessment test, and talked to a talent coach.
My wait for each is less than 5 minutes so I was extremely satisfied w/​the speed and level of attention I got from everyone that helped me that day. One lady, named Tuyen even offered to lend me a Chinese drama series. how sweet of her and she doesn’t even know me.
What I found out after seeing the talent coach was a series of available resources out there. I will take advantage of the free online courses offered (once completed successfully, a certificate is awarded) so what does that mean? More value add to my resume!
Workshops aren’t for me because I’m proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) already but there’s a QuickBooks one that I am enrolled in that is coming up.
Unless you are past a certain age or a veteran, they will not help you search for a job but will provide resources to help you do that…

Once you’ve registered at one, One Stop, you have access to them all, so if you want a different scene, I recommend checking out the one in Campbell. Parking is pretty plentiful and the office is just as big as the San Jose One Stop, if not a little bigger.
The people are definitely friendly, but always busy, so I recommend coming in early if you need help right away. They do accept walk-​ins if you’re willing to wait but for the best customer service possible, I’d recommend just making an appointment.
