I am a nurse and reviewing a MD is a complicated proposition. There are so many important aspects of patient care and an MD can be excellent in one aspect and deficit in another. It is important to be clear about what you want from your MD. This review is meant to be a thoughtful representation and accurate rating of my experiences with this MD. The first thing I noticed about Dr. Abidi is that he is hyper-intelligent and very sure of himself. He was very quick to make the correct diagnosis each time I have presented to him. He replaced my hip on May 5th and I was back at work as an ER Nurse in two months. He has been working with me and a degenerative condition I have in my ankles for the last year and although I have gotten no better, I haven’t got any worse. My own research indicates that he has offered me an appropriate if completely uninspiring course of therapy.(The present plan is to nurse me along until I break and then go to surgery again). Other than immediately post surgery, neither the doctor or anyone in his office has evaluated me for pain. They have asked if I hurt but have never discussed pain management medications or my medication history with me. His office has made every effort to meet every reasonable request I have made. I have twice specifically made an appointment with the Doctor and been given the physician’s assistant instead. Dr. Abidi easily refers to other physicians. I have been referred to three other specialists by him. Each evaluated me and said I either wasn’t bad enough or that they didn’t have anything for me. As I stated before, the Doctor is a very intelligent man. Sometimes he seems to think that he knows what you are going to say and he doesn’t allow you to finish your sentences. Also, there has been more than one time that I have thought, «it’s only a good idea if it is his…» This aspect of the Doctor has made dealing with my chronic degenerative ankles frustrating. In summary, if you need to go to surgery, my experience says this guy is the guy. His clarity, sureness of self and skill has benefited me and is well known throughout the community. If you need someone to manage a chronic condition, a doctor who will work with you and not on you, maybe this isn’t the guy.
