Bought a groupon for 2 new york steaks comes w a drink and garlic bread. Interesting experience where you grill your own meat but the quality of meat is really good. Staff is super nice and not too hectic. Definitely would come back if I’m in the area. No complaints.

I really wanted to give 4 or 3.5 however, based on my experience it is a solid 3. Food is okay 3: hard to chew some parts of the steak, I guess ribeye would be better than New York steak Grilling experience is 4: fun to do it your self Service is 3: friendly server(I would give 5 star if no below issue) Only issue is the server sales approach lacks my trust. I was told with coupon I had if I order sides, two dollars off menu price for each order. I was motivated due to price discount told by server so I ordered some. After I got bill, price for sides I ordered show full price. When I discussed this with server who was not happy and first said gave me two(expectation is two dollars per order) but then just gave me one dollar for all side orders. I really would like to go back if I had no above encounter. Anyway, I may suggest this restaurant to friends but I would caution them be aware of any promise by servers.

Extreme mediocrity. Came in here for dinner, walked in for literary 3 minutes no one to help, or welcome you in with a menu. Nothing. So… I walked to the spot down the street. Best night ever.

We try and hit up this place at least once every two months or more. We really enjoy the laid back, casual atmosphere and of course the food. Rarely have we gone where we had to wait to be seated. We usually go with friends and order the Cook it Yourself Steak. You can get one and then add on two sides for $ 3 each, and for Silicon Valley that’s a steal! Salads come out quick, but not quicker than the drinks. Staff is ultra attentive and usually in a very upbeat mood. They WANT to be there. They’re HAPPY to be there… which is so different than a lot of other places around here. If you’re local, you KNOW what I mean. Wife orders the New York, Blue Cheese Salad and one Side. I order the Ribeye(bone in or bone out depends how I feel). The meat is 100% Grade A USDA Prime. It’s so damn Good! Not because it will always be cooked to perfection. But because it’s high quality meat and they never under weigh. If it says 12oz. they give you 12oz worth of beef! It’s a Great deal. Clean, Good, Fresh, Family, Friends place! I highly, highly recommend!

I think it’s a 3.5 stars, I am rating it 4 stars for their great happy hours deals and their«cook your own steak» concept. This place offers daily great happy hour deals(half price appetizers) every day before 6pm or after 9pm. This is an unbeatable deal. Large portion of bar/finger food for 5−6−7 $ so come over, sit at the bar, have a chat with Stevie the bartender and enjoy your(cheap) dinner along with a good beer. Try the potato skins and chicken skewers! The restaurant itself propose burgers or steaks. Period. Burgers are juicy(had the bison one), well seasoned, sides are generous, large portions. Garlic fries were great, and the loaded potatoes is amazing. A big plus for the mushrooms, delicious even though it was too greasy/oily. You can pretty much customize everything in your burger. The steak: Good! NY strip was tender. You have the option of grilling it yourself on a big shared grill in the middle of the restaurant or have it cooked in the kitchen. It’s a fun concept, good for socializing and also cooking/seasoning your meat the way you like it. The have outdoor seating options, ok for large parties. Great staff!!!

First time at Grill’Em this place is one of those places where you go and stand around the communal grill and cook your steak yourself. Today we were just looking for a Burger. Still in search of the Best Burger in San Jose. We started out with the Potato Skins and they were good. I ordered the Juicy Lucy so it is a burger with the cheese inside the patty, added bacon. I am a purist when it comes to my burgers typically cheese and bacon are it nothing else. I wish they would have asked about lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and jalapeño sauce. I would prefer that stuff on the side so I can decide what, when and if I want to eat it. The burger was juicy and nicely seasoned but it was a little to heavy on the cheese. I also got the garlic fries which were heavy on the garlic. Will most likely go back and try a steak, but the quest for the best burger goes on.

What a fun experience for my boyfriend’s birthday a couple weeks ago! Found this place from a groupon deal and got $ 25 for 2NY steaks + 2 sodas(we didn’t get it since I remembered the groupon when we were almost done eating lol). Basically, the name of the place says it all! You come here to order your entrees and there is a selection of meats to choose from and you can either grill it on the community grill OR have them cook it for you! Of course you should grill your own steak because its more fun that way and thats the whole point of the restaurant! :D They have instructions for you on the wall behind the grill too, so that you know how long to cook your meat to and there is also a table filled with seasonings, sauces and plates as well! You really get to customize things or add more seasoning as you wish. But our waitress advised us not to since their rub was pretty salty as is. Our waitress Cindy was wonderful, she memorized our order of potato skins, mac n cheese with bacon and the 2NY Strips without writing anything down. For me, my steak was super salty and my bf’s was bland): The taste was okay, cool concept though. Just sucks that you can’t grill at your own table like Korean restaurants though. This is a sports bar, so there are tvs everywhere! The whole experience was nice though, it was pretty empty for a Sunday night too. One family, another couple, and two tables with some guys. But less people = less crowding around the grill(: I also heard their bar is great! They have happy hour too, I think 4 – 6 or something and then 9 to closing. My bf enjoyed this experience a lot and wants to come back, lol!

Had a cool night hanging out with some buddies for a friends bday dinner. Had the ribs with shrimp add on. Ribs were good but the shrimps were on the small side. Was hoping for larger grilled shrimps. Also had an appetizer fish and chips and Guinness during happy hour. Overall, this us a nice joint in a cool neighborhood. All customers were chill. Atmosphere was pleasant. Food was pretty good. Waitress was awesome. Not sure if I would want to go to a restaurant and grill my own steak. I guess a lot of people want to experience grilling their own steak at a restaurant although I didn’t. I would recommend this joint to others

Grill’em has a really fun concept. There is a big grill running in the center of the restaurant. You get to order whatever steak you want and it will come out raw and with garlic bread. You can then grill it yourself. They have instructions on the wall for anyone unsure of how long to cook them. There is an assortment of rubs and sauces to use as well. The grill has a wide frame so that you can enjoy a drink and hang out while you wait. The garlic bread gets thrown on at the last minute to get those gorgeous char marks. My husband and I both got the New York steak and it turned out perfectly. It was a pretty big size. We also got the garlic fries and steamed veggies as sides. They were good sides, but not as great as the steak. There is a happy hour menu every day I recommend taking advantage of it!

This place is really cool! You can order from the menu or you can grill your own steak. Yes, I said Grill your own steak!!! I would love to come here to watch a game and just sip on some cold ones and grill away. We pretty much ordered the entire appetizer menu and they were all good. No complaints. We started with a few, the firecracker shrimp(sauce is amazing), potato skins(fully loaded), calamari(I don’t care for, but my friends liked). The steak is prepared by yourself, so it’s really on you if it sucks or not lol. I am full and happy. One last note, Miguel was a great host. Not sure what his position was but he made sure to take care of our party and from the looks of it everyone else around. Great service!

This place is an AWESOME burger joint! You must try the Juicy Lucy burgers!!! I have yet to try their grill-your-own-steak steaks, but it seems legit. They tell you how long you need to grill your steak up to you liking and you put your own seasonings too. Come on an emptyish stomache. Their burgers are ginormous. I’ve been here three times on separate occasions and I have not been disappointed.

Went here for my friend’s birthday party. The idea of cooking your steak is pretty cool. The burgers are massive and the servings are really big. They have a really big bar area where you can chill and watch the games. This place is parking isn’t the best but if you’re looking for steak and you feels like cooking around this is the place to go to.

Brought my stepdad here for his birthday and there was another large party going on when we arrived so I was worried our service would be slow but our server, Cindy, kept things moving along and gave us the perfect level of attention all night long. We started off with an appetizer of calamari which was nicely prepared and very flavorful. As soon as we were finished with our appetizers, our steaks were waiting for us up at the community grill. Just as we were finished grilling our steaks and returned to the table, our side dishes were brought out. Everything was hot, fresh and perfectly orchestrated. I could not have asked for better service. We ended our night with cheesecake which is absolutely wonderful. Honestly I like this place for it’s unique dining experience with its steaks and sandwiches but I’d come back just for their cheesecake.

Came for a friends birthday dinner. Mediocre food and atmosphere. They are a cross between a sports bar and a cowboy spectacular. I ordered a burger which turned out underwhelmingly seasoned and my fries were blah. I guess their big pull is the fact that you get to cook your own steak. Which seems a bit redundant to me– can’t you do that at home? With better ingredients and fresher seasonings? Maybe it’s just me but that alone isn’t appealing enough to get me to come back.

My hubby was real cute and brought me back some to-go. The garlic fries were decent. Lots of fresh garlic. The short rib sandwich– loved the bread, but the meat was super salty! The lettuce evened some of the saltiness out. Will come back to try in store.

Bought a $ 25 groupon including 2 steaks, 2 drinks and garlic bread. Happy hour is sometime until 6pm, then 9 – 10. Their menu choices are ideal. Went as a party of 4, on the Groupon it says for a party of 7+, gratuity will be added onto the bill. Tell me why 2 of us bought the«deal» and gratuity was added on anyway? The overall experience is nice, our waitress cracked jokes but that’s no reason to charge gratuity. She said she keeps an eye on everyone who grills their own steak(and garlic bread) because people tend to burn the bread. Ironically after finishing our steaks, I look over and see her warning a guy who had turned over the bread and saw black darkness. Too bad. Anyway back to the issue, it’s not like we weren’t going to tip. I bought cash knowing I’d WANT to since it was my first time. Yeah, first time for everything.

Came again for a family birthday, had reservations for 14. They had a table set up for us inside which was really nice. We ordered drinks and apps while waiting for everyone to arrive. There was only 1 waitress for our table and the rest of the tables which is kind of crazy. Everyone eventually showed up, ordered our food and had a nice time. The food finally came out, mostly burgers and fries. The majority of the food was cold, not even warm. No one complained, everyone ate, most left their fries on the plate. This is a cooks issue not the waitress fault. The waitress was sweet and made a huge effort to accommodate our group. We had a cake which she brought out perfectly timed, along with plates, forks and a appropriate knife to cut it with.

I came here for the first time with my family to celebrate a birthday party. Our waitress was super nice! It wasn’t too crowded either which was cool. I got some pink margarita which wasn’t bad. We ordered appetizers and they were cold. We were hungry so we ate them anyway. Then when our food finally arrived, it was all cold as well. And I don’t mean luke warm. I’m talking COLD! Mushy fries and cold, soggy burgers. It was really gross! I live right by this place but I doubt I’ll ever come again unless someone else insists we go.

It’s hard to justify the cost of food here, but lets just start with something positive. I really like the unique idea of grilling your own food and we had a lot of fun doing it. There is something really strange about grilling inside of a restaurant while your talking to all of your friends with a drink in hand. It almost makes it feel more personal, like your at a backyard BBQ or something. However I can see why people might question this. Most people go out to eat so they don’t have to cook or do anything for that matter, so I can see the argument there. The food was overall good. Nothing amazing, but I thought it was still delicious and ate almost all of it. The prices however I did not agree with. Sides and appetizers alone were between $ 6 – 12, and my cut of rib eye was almost $ 20. Surprisingly the mixed drinks we had weren’t that expensive compared to some other bars in Campbell. Our waiter was a friendly guy, I have no complaints about him personally. That being said the service was sllooooww. It felt like we were there for a good hour before we were sitting down to our food and drinks. It wasn’t even that crowded either, so I’m not sure what the delay was. Also the lighting in this restaurant is very dark. I happen to like dim lit rooms because my eyes are hypersensitive to light, but this might be a major turn off for people. They do have an outside sitting area, but I couldn’t tell if they had heat lamps for the cool evenings. Probably won’t eat here again unless someone else chooses this place. It’s not bad by any means, it’s just not one of my favorites.

I’m not sure why anyone would want to grill their own meat at a restaurant(unless it’s korea bbq) but here you have it. Was only here for drinks and appetizers. The beer selection is small and boring. The spicy shrimp and the mexican eggrolls were decent. Lots of tvs to watch games on. Happy hour seems to be most of the day every day, so that’s nice. On the whole I’d say that this is just a regular old neighborhood sports bar; nothing fancy but not bad.

Used our Groupon for lunch. I thought the idea of grilling your own meat in the restaurant is really cool. The huge grill in the middle of the tables was impressive. I like how there were photos of happy customers on the walls. :) We came in around 12 and it was pretty empty save three other tables. We had one server for all the tables and she was good on checking up on us. The food was disappointing. The ribs were dry and looked unappetizing. The burger was huge, though. Potato salad was so-so. Cheese and chicken quesadilla was probably the best part of our meal. Wouldn’t come back again. Nice atmosphere, though.

Came here just for Paintnite. They have a really large outdoor patio area which looks great for lunch/dinner if the weather permits. We only ordered fries and a beer. Missed happy hour by 10 mins :((ends at 6pm) but prices aren’t too bad for appetizers/drinks. They have a bunch of $ 5/$ 6 appetizers on their happy hour menu and beers and wine. It’s pretty dark on the inside of the restaurant. They got a pretty big bar area. Service was good. Guess I need to come back to try what they’re actually known for. the steaks!

Having a more personal element in service is either a good thing or bad thing to customers. Some people will laud the idea of grilling your own steak with a bunch of buddies. Others will resent the idea of having to cook your own steak. Good thing i didn’t fall into the latter group. Ambiance:This place definitely falls into the category of a sports bar with an added touch of a grill. It’s a great place to kick back and enjoy steak with a group of friends or to celebrate a birthday party. Service: I give myself 4 stars for how my steak turned out. I don’t think i deserve 5 stars because my steak came out medium well which was still somewhat juicy. Our server was very knowledgeable about the happy hour menu and the overall experience that customers will receive. He gave us clear cut instructions on how the grilling station works and his favorite happy hour dishes. Potato skins were most memorable for happy hour. Food: Steak was decent. I’d definitely come back for happy hour with a large group of friends, or well, drunk friends. Overall it’s a solid 4 stars.

I hate when my reviews have to start with, «I really wanted to like this place.» But, when I have to say it, I do. I really want to like this place, but I don’t. Not only is the places interior dark, sulky, and not very kid-friendly…Our experience was terrible. BEAWARETHATTHEYTAKE18% GRATITUITYFROMALLPARTIESOF7ORMORE.(maybe 6, I KNOW, this IS normal, BUTIT’S NOTPOSTEDANYWHERE/ON THEMENU&THEYPROBABLYWON’T TELLYOU cuz 18% ISSOMESCAMSH*T!!) When we arrived, my dad was already at the bar(closest seat to the entrance) so we said hi & waited for someone to come because the sign said«Please wait to be seated» A couple eventually walked in & the bartender(who seemed like the nicest one there) asked if they wanted bar seating or to be seated in the dining room, when they said dining room, he said okay go and sit where you want to! So, my dad said, «Were gunna do that too» & we sat ourselves. Waiter didn’t stop by for at least 15 minutes, when he did, finally. he said«hi, i’ll be back in one minute!» 10 minutes go by, my lips are chapped af. I really wanted a drink at least a water! & at that point, we already knew what we wanted for drinks & appetizers. First, he insisted he get drink orders first. Then, they didn’t have root beer :(So I got ½ lemonade ½ sprite, it was almost all lemonade splash of sprite. lol. Then, when I asked for him to bring out extra ranch instead of sour cream with the Potato Skins we ordered, he told me. «Can you ask the guy when he brings it out cuz we can’t add it on the order.» I said«why can’t you bring it out? why do i have to ask again» NOT trying to wait till the cheese on my skins is hard cuz the service is so freakin slow! Potato skins took 35 mins. The skins were good, I really enjoyed them. Definitely not worth coming back here for, though. I got the filet mignon wrapped in bacon, and while it was a good cut of meat, I’ve had much better filet mignon,(my dad got drunk in the long time we waited for a piece of meat to be put on a plate, and pretty much let me sit on the sidelines while he tore up the grill, grilling everyones steaks for them lol) He cooked it perfect medium, but the sauces/seasonings were crazy strong! They pour out extremely fast also, so be cautious! My steak was honestly ruined by the seasonings, I stopped about half way through because they were too strong to eat anymore, the teriyaki was dreadful, so potent. & because sadly, the sides we ordered got to the table right as we were slapping our steaks on the grill(someone was in front of us, only one side of the grill was on.) by the time my steak was done, my baked potato was pretty much luke-warm. Didn’t touch the second one. :( What bugs me most about this place is they don’t bother to mention an 18% gratitude is taken. THISISPOSTEDNOWHERE in the BUILDING, on the MENU, and we were NEVER told… 235 $ meal… 18% of that is 42 $$ FORTHETIP! F*** That! Definitely ripped off from this place, we’re grilling our own steaks and have to wait FOREVERAND A DAY to get a ANY service & weren’t told about this 18%. Sorry, GRILLEM, BUT your service is SLOW and i’m doing all the work… You really didn’t deserve that… we paid for so much lukewarm food & we didn’t notice till we were home that you basically STOLE an undeserved TIP! First time coming here, HORRIBLE impression. My dad, mom and whole party agreed that the food was decent, but we we will probably never be back. If you end up in this«cave» order the potato skins, they are the best thing there. BEAWAREOFTHAT18% GRATITUITYTHATTHEY’LLTAKEWHENGOINGINLARGEGROUPS! Service will probably SUCK. Not worth it. Buy a steak, go to a nice park with your friends, GRILLEM somewhere ELSE! NEXTDAYUPDATE– My mom informed me she got very sick from the food here. We will never be back!

Went here for my friends 21st birthday and it was a small little restaurant with a bar. Not many people were there for a Saturday night but food and service was really good. My boyfriend and I ordered a ribeye for only $ 20 and it came with garlic bread. It was seriously the juiciest steak I have ever eaten. The do-it-yourself experience was awesome too. Right next to the grill they have all sorts of seasoning/hot sauce/steak sauce to choose from. That was really neat. We had a big party but the server seems really nice and patient with our party. He spit up the bills to make everything easier for everyone. Over all this place is really good if you want some bbq and drinks!
