If we weren’t gifted a reward card here, my hubby and I would have most likely never come to Capers. And after this experience, we probably won’t come back either. We grabbed a pretty early dinner so parking was easy in the giant plaza that has quite a number of restaurants and stores around. Inside, there were about 10 televisions upon the walls, each playing a different game. So, definitely a good spot for sports fans! My hubby and I were seated promptly with complimentary bread hitting our table as soon as we sat down. The menu is pretty large so we definitely took some time trying to decide. In the end, we decided to get a cocktail of prawns, tomatoes, and avocado for our appetizer. Then for entrees, my hubby chose the crab stuffed salmon and I got the blackberry pork medallions. The appetizer looked small, but was actually quite filling. In fact, it was probably our favorite dish of the night. The freshness of the shrimp was wonderful, and when paired with juicy tomatoes and creamy avocado, it made for quite the flavor combo. I could have eaten much more of that. Unfortunately, the entrees weren’t as amazing. My hubby’s salmon was cooked right, but the crab and fish didn’t marry very well. Even though they were supposed to be one component, the crab and fish tasted as if they were just thrown together. My pork medallions were cooked unevenly, with some pieces more tender than others. The steamed vegetables, however, were super delicious and light. For the kind of food we got, my hubby and I were surprised at how expensive everything was. We definitely felt the quality of the food didn’t match what we were charged. But considering we had a gift card, we weren’t going to gripe about it too much. Besides that appetizer, it was definitely an underwhelming experience that doesn’t warrant a second visit.

We had dinner reservations on Valentine’s Day at 9pm. We were greeting by really friendly hostesses and sat almost immediately. Wait staff came by with bread, butter, balsamic dip and water. The butter was too cold to use but the bread was really soft and yummy so we used the balsamic dip. Our server — an attractive, soft spoken woman came by to get our drink order and my husband ordered a Mai Tai and I asked for a diet coke. We also gave her our dinner order and she never wrote anything down — in hindsight maybe she should have! My husband got the chicken and prawn picatta with rice and vegetables. I ordered the prawn scampi over fettucini. I was put off that they did not offer a meal salad — just full salads for $ 14 so I did not bother. The couple next to us, who was sitting very close, complained about the same thing. The server came back and dropped off our drinks except she brought me a sprite not a diet coke. Before I could say anything, she was gone. During our wait another server came out with steaks and asked if they were for the couple next to us — they weren’t which did not instill much confidence. Our entrees came out and looked good. My husband said the prawns were overcooked and the outside of his chicken was tough like it was precooked. My prawn scampi was served with one lemon wedge and it actually tasted creamy like a very bland stroganoff or alfredo and the prawns were also overcooked. The garlic toast it came with was gross. Our server did not check on us and stood with her back to us with the other servers at the bar. It was not busy this late at night so I find it hard to justify the bad service. When she finally came by after 10 minutes I asked for a diet coke and lemon wedges for my pasta. She came back with the diet coke but no lemons and I almost got up and took lemons off the bar. Overall it was a bad experience. Bad service and overcooked, flavorless, overpriced food. Our bill was $ 70 before the tip, $ 85 after, and the meal was maybe worth $ 30 if that. We could have went to Original Joe’s and paid the same for waaaaaay better food and service. Oh well. We won’t be back.

Probably not ideal to show up in a large group, on Mother’s Day! Reservations were made weeks in advance, so we were locked and loaded. This is what I got a chance to sample: Teriyaki Beef Short Ribs — $ 23.95 Pecan Panko Crusted Salmon — $ 22.95 As you can imagine, it was pretty chaotic. It took slightly over 30 minutes to get our entrées, but I can’t really hold that against them, given the circumstances. Our waitress was friendly and as attentive as she could be. She forgot to bring out a couple of our drink orders, but she was able to maneuver efficiently. The short ribs and salmon were cooked to perfection! Both dishes were juicy, tender, and mouth watering! The garlic mash and sautéed veggies were also on point! There wasn’t really anything to complain about. Bottom line, they nailed it with these 2 dishes. Conclusion: Good service, great food, and fairly priced based on quality! «I’LLBEBACK!»

It was ok. Their menu has pretty much everything you can think of, but the service was just OK and the food was also just OK, and when the bill came it felt like it should have been way better food for what we got. I want to love it because it’s very local, so I guess I’ll give it another shot. Pros were that the TV’s were plentiful to catch the Giants.

Capers turned my Mother’s Day celebration for my mom into a total disappointment to say the least. Here are my five reasons that Capers will be a bad choice for you to eat or have a celebration with family or friends. #1. A 30 minute wait for the table that we reserved days in advance. We had a reservation for 11:00am(they open at 11:00am) our party were one of the first people there. To make matters worse we were staring at our open table the whole time. #2. It took our hostess another 20 minutes to take our order and then the long wait… 1 hour and 45 minute wait! We were watching everybody else in the place being served before us. We started to see new guests arrive and order and then they to were being serve before us! We kept asking why and the hostess kept telling us that they were really busy! Total B.S. They lost our order and wouldn’t admit it! #3. When the food finally arrived it was tasteless and cold. One of our party asked if they could just have egg whites and were told«NOSUBTITUTION». Why? They don’t know how to separate yolk from the whites? Well when we tasted our food it was apparent that they do not employ real cooks. The food was disgusting! The eggs were Gray! One of us ordered the Mexican egg dish and it looked like they just added red food coloring because they were reddish but tasted like over cooked eggs that had absolutely no seasoning… Not even salt or pepper. But they were red! Two from our party have celiac disease and were told that Capers served gluten free meals. Well, there were bread crumbs all over the dish and the hostess literally blew the crumbs off and said«how’s that?» Seriously? #4. These plates of disgusting food averaged $ 25.00+ per plate! You can get the same thing at Denny’s that tastes much better(which isn’t saying much) for $ 10.00! #5. The hostess said that they were very sorry but that the manager would not give us a price break for their mistake. Our bill was just under $ 300.00 for eight people! In summary this has to be the worst dinning experience that I have ever had. The manager was rude and unapologetic. The hostess clearly lost our order but would not even acknowledge it and kept saying it was because they were«really busy» LIES! And lastly they do not employ cooks or anyone that has even a small grasp of preparing and cooking food! How do you not know how to separate eggs whites? I only wish I could give Capers a negative 5 stars. Please do yourself and everybody you know a favor and do not eat here. You will be robbed of your money and be sick afterwards that is if you ever get a table and then be served by the end of the day.

I wish I could give 0 stars… I have been coming to this restaurant for years for special occasions and I currently live in Sacramento, I drove down for Mother’s Day and specifically made reservations days in advance For a Saturday at 7:00… It is currently 7:30 and we are still standing in the waiting area & keep being told that it will be 15minutes and that everyone waiting has reservations also… They clearly overbooked and we’re not paying attention to reservations when seating walk-ins… My point is what is the point of making a reservation days in advance just to be standing in the front; not even sitting in the front for 35 now+ minutes after your original reservation time?! Very disappointed with the front staff of this restaurant

Ordered food though a food delivery company. I did not get my full order. I called the restaurant and was told that there was nothing that they can do about it. Thanks! 1 star for unprofessionalism and poor customer service.

We have been coming here for years and have chosen this place for celebrations(the night we got engaged) as well as casual nights with friends. Food is great and we have always had good service. I also love that we can bring our 2 year old here and feel right at home :) it is family friendly!

I just recently had shoulder surgery for a torn labrum, it was and is the most painful recovery I’ve ever experienced… until now. The experience of eating at «Capers Eat and Drink» should be renamed to «Capers wait 30 minutes for a reservation you booked in advance, wait an additional 45 minutes after ordering your food, no one will apologize or refill your water, the food will be overpriced and under cooked, and you will throw up when you get home» as I did. The experience was so bad it was almost funny. While we were awkwardly standing in the cold doorway waiting for our supposedly reserved table, another family of 5 that allegedly made a reservation was told that«I’m sorry but your name isn’t on our list.» Then the biggest middle finger toward us was when a family that had a reservation at 7:30 was seated before us. We asked the host wtf? And he unapologetically said«no one is getting up, there’s nothing I can do.» We sat down and ordered the tomato garlic soup, Cajun ahi tuna, and smoked salmon rotini pasta. Soup came fast, as it should, but we had to wait super long for our main dishes. Waitress noticed it had been 45 minutes and we don’t have food in front of us so she checked with the kitchen. I surmised that from the under cooked food that they forgot about our order which inevitably led to my food poisoning the day after. The waitress comped us a desert so that was nice but when we ordered a tiramisu it was a pathetic mound of whip cream, chocolate and caramel syrup… I couldn’t even find the cake. If we didn’t have a coupon/gift card, we would’ve never spent money for this, unless I enjoy praying to the porcelain gods. 0.5 stars, at least the tomato soup was satisfying, but so is Campbell’s.

Fantastic food, the staff is incredibly friendly. I got an Angus burger, and it was just delightful much like service I received. My waitress, Tiana, was very attentive to our needs and the boy who brought us our food, Chris, made sure we had everything we needed before moving on. I will definitely be returning here.

Miserable, sad food. I just wouldn’t consider anything I ate there to be restaurant quality. We ordered the shrimp scampi and the lamb shanks. The shrimp came out tough and overcooked. The lamb shanks were just plain weird — they seemed like they were just boiled instead of roasted. Washed out flavor, then, smothered with sauce in an attempt to make up for it. If I closed my eyes the vegetables and potatoes they served could have been straight out of a frozen TV dinner.

Had the marinated stir fry with both chicken and shrimp and it was delicious. Paid with a $ 100 gift card I paid $ 50 for at Costco! All around sweet deal. Had the speak easy mixed drink and that’s something to try. Strong sipping drink.

The food has regressed from being bad to awful, and the prices have gone from being slightly overpriced to ridiculously expensive for what you are served. Capers needs to do one of two things: 1. Focus their menu. Limit the options and increase the quality of your dishes. 2. Go out of business because as it currently exists, it sucks. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you want $ 18 sliders that taste like they’re from the frozen isle at Albertsons. This restaurant should be ashamed of itself. Fucking awful.

One more to «Never again» list. Could have been a great cozy place but: HOST: Right as I and my wife entered, a host(90210 type of cutie pie) stared at my wife without looking into my eyes at all, as I requested a place to sit. Made her feel uncomfortable and me wanting to fix his head tilt the other way. You look in the eyes of the guest who is speaking to you! It’s not a club where you came to pick up chicks, mafakka… FOOD: 1. Even the simplest traditional Italian starter Bread + Oil + Vinegar came pre-mixed and got a very unusual sweet taste. Not tasty. 2. This place isn’t cheap or average at all. I’d say appetizers are around $ 13, main dishes are $ 20+ 3. The high prices above would be fine IF they would stand the quality. The quality is — completely tasteless or just regular. Salmon tastes like they bought it at Costco(the one that’s salted already), then boiled it and mixed it with pasta. To the owners: if you see that you got almost HALF of reviewers gave you 1 or 2 stars only — it is a clear sign that you have to change something. LONGTIMEAGO already… Read only negative reviews and make a list of words that are most often used by negative reviewers. Here we go — you will get an understanding what to change. For now I see two that stand out — SALTYANDOVERPRICED, SALTYANDOVERPRICED, SALTYANDOVERPRICED. How many more times does it needs to be repeated for you to understand to stop using sooo much salt and lower the prices OR if you still want people to pay that much money — replace the head chef!

No plans for Labor Day Sunday and no work Monday? Come here to try the food and get drunk it is! Some of my friends had gift certificates also so even more of a reason to come by! Beef Carpaccio and Chicken Wings for table apps and the ½ rack of Baby Back Ribs for my entrée. YUM! The Chicken Wings are always a safe bet at any American restaurant. The carpaccio LOOKED tasty, but it was a little hard to tell from eating 2 bites from the edges because we didn’t know it came with cheese sprinkled all over it =(Oh well, next time we know. The Ribs though… g’dammn! HUGEPORTION and it was only ½ a rack! But omg… SOTENDER! You didn’t even need to use the knife they provided on the plate. The meat literally fell off the bone! Drinks — Wine list was so-so, got a glass of their White Zin since that’s always a safe choice when nothing else looks good. They also had a special going on that night, Niner Red from Paso Robles I think it was called. It wasn’t on the menu but it was GOOD! Super smooth and more on the light side. Kind of sad, I never got the chance to order a glass because it turned into a shot kind of night. Thank you, Tiana, for putting up with our obnoxious group and being such a patient server! 5 stars for her great service no doubt. They also have some cool HH deals too. Sunday(the night we went) happened to be No Corkage Fee night! Darn, if only we knew ahead of time! I wouldn’t mind coming back here for their live music nights either!

Only reason why the ex and I came here to eat one night was cause we had a gift certificate. Note to self and other hardcore Unilocalers… trust in other Unilocal reviews. There’s a reason why this place didn’t rack up many good reviews. Here are my thoughts on our experience: –Don’t order any drinks here, bartenders are clueless. If you can’t make a decent gin & tonic or even have a decent wine list… boo to you. –Dinner entrees are not worth ordering for the price point they have them at. –Lunch food is just okay. Edible and somewhat flavorful. –Service was so-so. Waitress was nice and came back to check on us in an appropriate, timely manner. There are plenty of other GOOD restaurants within walking distance from this one. Skip this one and your stomach and tastebuds will thank you.

I can’t comment on too much about this place because we really just came for drinks. but it’s kinda cool, a really really fancy sports bar! With LIVE music! The live music is great, sometimes bands, sometimes piano, and sometimes just one person. The staff all seem pretty nice as well. The drinks, amazing! The food, I had some calamari and a quesadilla. The best dang calamari and steak quesadilla I’ve ever had. I don’t know, they both just kind of melted in my mouth. Yum! Expensive. Super expensive. Make sure you look at their prices before you go! TVs everywhere! Want to watch a game? It’ll definitely be playing there!

We came here tonight because we had a gift certificate from a Costco promotion a while back. The first thing we noticed about this place is that it is lively … and loud. Blame it on Monday Night Football blaring on 6 – 7 large screen TVs all around the restaurant, as well the bar being about three quarters full. I was thankful that the host asked if we wanted to watch the game or preferred a quieter table away from the noise. Although our table was still pretty loud(hard to be «away from the noise» of Monday Night Football, I was thankful we were given a choice. The food was good, but it came out so fast that my husband assumed it wasn’t fresh and had been sitting under a heating lamp in the back. His suspicion was confirmed when his garlic mashed potatoes were lukewarm. He did enjoy his lamb shank, though, and I enjoyed the few bites I tried. I had the Capers meatloaf, which was a little red. The meatloaf itself wasn’t very flavorful, but the mushroom sauce was tasty. Not sure I would order the meatloaf again. The reason I am giving this place three stars instead of two is their customer service. In addition to the host, the waiter and busboy were very attentive. We got bread within minutes of sitting down, and it was refilled just when we were thinking of asking! Our waitress checked on us twice and was very nice. Another person refilled our water. Overall, great customer service!

Dear Kim I really hope you read this because you are amazing. no seriously you are one of the best servers EVER… like EVER… and we wished you were able to go out with us after your shift. Kim single handedly dealt with 25 loud ass mother truckers with grace and a great attitude. All of our orders were correct and she continued to check in with us on a regular basis. When one of the drinks took longer than anticipated it was comp’d without anyone asking. To the patrons who were sitting near the table of 25 who continued to deal with the crazy conversations you are truly patient… I know me offering a measly piece of ice cream cake did not match the amount of crap you put up with… Someone’s Dirty Thirty started off with a bang here. Despite the food taking forever it was pretty tasty. I had one of the best salads ever(lots of blue cheese and the dressing was perfect). The turkey mini sandwiches were tasty and the crab cakes were well liked. The calamari and the potato skins were perfect. The bread continued to be replaced, drinks etc. were refilled frequently. Other folks got pasta, burgers and other items that were well liked. Despite this place being a tad pricy for what you get I would come back here again. Warning– parking is ridiculous. You have been warned.
