I signed up just to review Bay Mountain Air — I have never been so disappointed and angry at a contractor before(and I have dealt with my fair share). I am a very patient person, and have done more than my fair share trying to help them get this job done(including pouring the concrete pad for the unit after they discovered it didn’t come with a pad from the factory, running electrical from the panel up to the unit for them, etc.). In short — they didn’t plan the job or do the work correctly, and it was a mess. They didn’t order the right parts, so had to delay the start. They took forever to install the ducting, and cut corners doing it(the registers were installed very poorly). The poor tech they sent on the job was so overworked and exhausted, he cut into a live electrical wire trying to install one of the registers and nearly got electocuted. I replaced the line on my own dime because I felt so bad for him. After many delays, we finally thought we were done — at least the unit worked, and we were warm. We made a big mistake and paid them the final amount before the inspection. Unfortunately the work failed inspection with 6 different problems. They fixed the 3 easy ones(missing insulation in ducting, wrong electrical wiring, etc.), but the gas line was completely wrong and non-code compliant. Trying to get the issue resolved with Todd(the owner) was very unpleasant — after first trying to bully, deflect blame, deny it was their problem(despite it being on the contract and their work!), he finally gave in and said they would fix it. They haven’t returned my call, sent a tech, or given a useful response over email since and it has been over a month. I’ve had to file a formal complaint with the state, and I am trying to get this fixed on my own(calling plumbers, etc). I’ll probably end up having to sue them over this. Edit: Complaining to the State license board worked! It took a few months for the paperwork to work its way through their system, but once it got assigned to an agent on their side, Todd called me the next day to get things resolved. They pretty quickly scheduled the work, and got it done to the inspectors satisfaction within a couple weeks. Sad it required the state to get involved, but the unit is working and passes inspection now.
