Del Mar Beach Resort at Camp Pendleton

My first time visiting here and it’s absolutely beautiful!!! They have a little puddle of water where kids can enjoy themselves without u worrying.

Had our wedding on site and it was perfect!!! Megan and the rest of the staff were so helpful, accommodating and informative.

This is by far the cleanest and nicest beach I’ve been to in the area! It is very very very clean and family friendly. They have villas you can rent (I’ve yet to rent, but someday soon), public restrooms with showers and a small Mexican restaurant. Being allowed to drink alcohol on Del Mar beach is pretty awesome, it makes for a great BBQ destination, especially since there are BBQ pits. I’m at this beach weekly and I’ve never had a complaint.

Without a doubt, my favorite beach in all of San Diego county. It is never too crowded (unless you go during the beach bash, July 4^th). It is always clean and the waves are perfect for splashing around in. Plus, if you go at the right time you can purchase a burrito and margarita from Ramones. You can bring your own drinks, they just have to be in a glass bottle.

Great location. Beach is taken care of very well. However, it is extremely hard to stay sand free in the cabin. Also, the cabin is interesting– furniture seems modern, however the walls are exceptionally marked up. Kids loved roasting marshmallows over the open pit fire. Overall decent experience.

A little rough on the weekend nights, but overall an excellent beach front campground! Very clean. We needed 4-​wheel drive to back into our spot, but our rv is massively heavy, so that might not be an issue for everyone. The kids enjoyed the playground and we felt very safe!

First of all, to book a room here, is hard. Hard because they book 12 weeks in advance, and people call in at the stroke of midnight to try to get a room. Being that my fiancé is a marine, we booked a room here to celebrate his dad’s birthday and we had family come and drive up. Getting to the resort through the base was no problem– parking spots were very limited though. And the rates are great! We stayed at the Standard Villa for $ 85/​night and it was perfect.
There’s a little convenience shop to buy snacks and grill/​bbq-​ing supplies, there’s also a few eateries within the area. They’ve got some fun water sport rentals and even have cabanas for rent. You definitely feel safe and secure being on base, there is also a curfew to ensure a peaceful rest. And the front desk reps are always helpful.
The sand is nice and soft, they have a kids lagoon next to the beach and some people like to take a stroll or fish while they’re out there.

We enjoyed our trip to this beach. There was no trash and it wasn’t very crowded, even though we went last weekend. The sort of makeshift rocky pier they have is so pretty, it stretches for at least a mile. I loved looking out over the waves. I also love that they have places to sit and tables. That’s so nice.

Complete lack of consideration on the part of the staff. We paid for a luxury ocean view beach unit, only to have a wedding reception set up right in front of our cabin. Our ocean view consisted of the back of a party tent. Don’t forget that there’s no air conditioning. All of this can be yours for only 130 bucks per night. Worst military resort that I ever had the misfortune of staying at.

Love this resort at Del Mar Beach USMC base @Camp Pendleton. Children’s cove is amazing. We had a problem with the plumbing and showers and so did our neighbors next door, but they took care of us and made it right. Definitely a great place to stay!

My family and I usually go here when we plan on spending the whole day at the beach. It’s one of the cleanest beaches in the area and a great spot to go bodyboarding or surfing! There’s a spot to launch your kayaks and SUPs as well!

Perfect spot to enjoy a nice cold beer on the sand without being bothered by authorities, which is awesome!
Two different children’s playground area both on the North and South end of the beach. So if you have kids who would rather be sliding and swinging, it’s helpful.
It was not that crowded during our visit being that it was at 4pm when we arrived. There are tiny huts equipped with two beach chairs to relax on if you have not reserved any of beach cottages and cabanas on the beach.
Overall, nice and clean beach to enjoy a cold brew. Oh and the water is always swell when it comes taking a dip or two into the nice Pacific.

What’s not to love about this beach! Everything is much more beautiful here, it’s as if I’m on a white sand beach having a mojito in Cabo when in reality I’m just on the sands of good olé Camp Pendleton!
You can’t legally have any alcoholic beverages at any of the beaches here in San Diego, but here at Del Mar it is permitted. Just no kegs or glass bottled brews-​anything else is fine.
There’s a «kiddie pool» here too on the left side of the jetty so it’s good for families with young kids to go there. Its a lot more calming and safe because the waves are a bit stronger here for some reason.
They also offer cabanas you can rent for the day at the main office, but if you go towards the end of the beach there’s a bunch of little tables with attached umbrellas that are free.
There are plenty of bathrooms with single showers and also have coin operated washer/​dryers.
There’s a playground here as well!
Sometimes when open they also have a bartender at one of the cabanas that has a full bar and they accept credit cards too!
Next time you think of a beach day try Del Mar Beach on Camp Pendleton-​make sure you have enough ice in your coolers for the beer too! :)

I’m shocked you don’t need to be military to come here! I would love to be able to et a cabana sometime with some of my military friends. The sand goes forever and the pollution is non existent. Definitely making this out new spot!

My family and I stayed here for 6 days in a Standard Villa and loved every minute of it!
Del Mar Beach Resort offers Standard Villas, Deluxe Villas and Luxury Villas in addition to a campground. The differences between the villas are these: The Standard Villas face the marina, have no oven and share a fire pit with their neighbor. The Deluxe Villas are directly in front of the «Kids Cove», do have an oven and their own fire pit. The Luxury Villas are all beach front, have an oven and also get their own fire pit. We were in the «standard», but trust me, you won’t be disappointed by not having an ocean front room because the marina is beautiful and the ocean is just across the parking lot.
Our villa came stocked with anything we might have needed: a cot, plates, bowls, silverware, pots & pans, knives, cutting board, dish soap, sponge, BBQ and toiletries. For only $ 5.00 you can buy firewood and they will deliver it to your door! Housekeeping was very nice, but my only complaint is that they generally came before or around 9:00am…which is a little early since there is no «do not disturb» sign to put out.
This beach resort has shaded huts at the beach, two playgrounds, «Kids Cove» (which is a flat body of water between the jetties that’s great for little ones), a shop with toiletries, snacks, and gifts like: wine glasses, beach totes and key chains. There is a Ramone’s Mexican BBQ taco shop. I wasn’t a fan of Ramone’s. The hot sauce was not good, the carne asada was not carne asada, and the chicken had a weird texture to it. The prices were very reasonable though and they do serve alcoholic drinks! The resort also rents bikes, cabanas, umbrellas and other beach stuff.

They recently made upgrades all over this beach and it really improved the overall atmosphere. The RV sites are full-​hookups on a sandy lot. I’ve heard a lot of people say if you don’t get the front row, it’s not worth staying here. I personally like being further back, there’s more space and less people trying to cut through your site, plus you get to see the military vehicles rolling through during working hours.
The restrooms have showers and unless there’s a huge beach event going on, there’s rarely a line.
Bring cash if you want concessions while you’re there.

Took the family camping for a weekend getaway and was not impressed. The sites were essentially parking spaces, so little to no space to stretch out. There is no buffer to separate the campsites from the general public, so we had a constant stream of people walking through our site and making their own little party almost on top of ours.
The bathrooms were dirty, even for beach bathrooms. Pigeons roost there and it makes some of the stalls unusable due to the pigeon droppings.
Wonderful beach. Super clean sand and a great view. But I will never camp there again.

The views are awesome, lots of clean beaches, only those with military affiliation and amenities just a few min away.
While wifi isn’t a must, the wifi provided is shoddy at best. Constant in and out with sign in required. You will use a bit of 4g data here.

Super upgrade! Last visit was back in 2011. Beach is super clean and lots of new features added since my last visit.
No dogs allowed on the beach.

GORGEOUS BEACH on base at Camp Pendleton. Make a right before you hit the gate and follow the road and you’ll eventually hit the shore. A number of complimentary (yes, free) little huts with 2 beach chairs, cabanas available for groups (you have to pay for these), and a big bar/​outdoor kitchen you can reserve and rent out (you definitely have to pay for that).
I went on a Sunday with my family/​friends and it was not crowded at all. Loved it.
Hawaiian Shaved Ice truck posts there too. My niece and nephew loved that.
They also have cabins right on the beach, but they’re booked like months and months in advance so make sure you call super ahead of time (like 3 months ahead).
