Beautiful country bakery at apple hill. It is ideally located across from a beautiful park where families enjoy time together. We ordered the berry and apple sour cream pie… excellent! Very simple, warm, and fresh. The larsen farm berries and apple’s boast ideal fall flavors for a fruit pie.

A few of us were meeting close by to go kayaking. I asked what time they opened and was told 8am. At 8:05 we were ready to purchase a few things. They could have cared less and seemed annoyed we were there. This was my second visit and after the bad attitudes and subpar apple pie, I won’t be back. A few others made mention the baked goods were just ok and the service not that great. Go to Kids, INC instead. Their apple cheesecake pie is the bomb!

FIVESTARS for the spicy apple cake with gooey sauce and vanilla ice cream! It just doesn’t get any better, and the service is personable and efficient! Keep a couple in your freezer!

I tried the traditional Apple slice(good), pumpkin slice(eh, ok), berry Apple sour cream slice(didn’t like but my parents did), and pumpkin cookie(awesome!!!) If you’ve been to southern California’s Julian(their version of Apple hill) then this place and pretty much any other place in Apple hill is a disappointment. They were also slammed when I went and did an amazing job of getting food out.

Although this review is for the bake shop, you’ll find more than baked goods here. Food: Came here looking for an appleliscious snack after visiting the Apple Barn and the museum. While the Barn has fresh apples, cider, and frozen pies, you’ll find lots of ready to eat goods in the Bake Shop. I sprang for the apple dumpling( ). This thing features a deliciously tart peeled apple baked until tantalizingly soft and wrapped with a carbtastic dough wrapper. Once you tear into the wrapper, a thick ooze of sugar and cinnamon pours out. So good! They also have drinks( ), burgers, and other non-apple foods, but you’ll definitely eat better if you stick to the baked items. Atmosphere: The Bake Shop is just one of the buildings near the Larsen Apple Barn. You’ll also find a museum detailing the history of the Larsen family and the barn itself which is always bustling with customers snapping up pies and crates of apples. I’ll review the barn itself in a sec. It’s a pretty far drive into Apple Hill, but I think it’s worth a stop. Service: Could have been better. The girl who took my order was sort of out of it and I had to ask to get my dumpling after watching several other people get their orders out before me. It might have been that heating the dumpling takes longer than most items, but we waited a good 20 minutes for it to come out. Some notice would’ve been appreciated. Synopsis: Loving the apple dumpling. If I come back, I’ll probably get a bunch of these to go and freeze them for special occasions.

We went on a weekend where there was a 5K event that morning. We were looking for a place we could walk around in Apple Hill with our Puppy and enjoy a fall day. The place WAS packed — but less packed than others, and we ended up waiting about 45 minutes to order some food and apple baked goodies. All in all — the food was okay — pretty over priced for what we got but it’s Apple Hill — a tourist trap what do you expect? Our baked goods were okay too — not great, not what i was expecting, but they did the job. We ended up doing a salad, a sandwhich, a slice of pie(the best baked good of the three), 2 dumplings(I didn’t like these, I would not recommend) and 2 turnovers(ehh they were okay) — and it cost us near $ 40. Not a great value — but we needed to eat at this point. Unfortuantely there’s also really no place to sit and«picnic» here — there’s 3 or 4 tables in front of the restaurant otherwise that’s about it. I was also hoping for how large the area was there was more picnic area to enjoy but nope — we had to go elsewhere to find space!

The ad in the Apple Hill map book says they serve gourmet food. Not even close… Microwaves are humming away in that kitchen. They do BBQ a tri-tip to death so make sure to add mayo and sauce.

I didn’t see any baked good here when we went, but they had just opened(a week early), we bought nectarines, pears and apples, all with a taste test before hand.
