This place is very cheap but I have never been there where they haven’t made a mistake on my order. The waiter is very slow(I’ve never noticed more than two working during lunch) and I often hurry them along by bringing my check up to the front when I’m done or pay in before finished so I don’t need to wait while on my lunch break. Once the order is fixed the food is generally good, and they give a lot. I usually get the vegetable phở. The broth is a bit subpar in flavor but it comes with a ton of vegetables, bok choy, bean sprouts, and jalapenos. They offer bubble teas and I strongly recommend against buying any of them. I ordered a cold jasmine bubble tea and I got a luke warm cup of tan milk with grossly over soaked bubbles. They could not even get up the straw. YUCK! I know living in North Jersey and visiting NYC often I was once spoiled with the bubble tea selections but this was simply a disgrace. If it wasn’t for the tea I would have given them three stars.

As soon as I felt a cold coming on – the sudden sneezes and back-of-the-throat-tickle – I knew I needed to prescribe myself some spicy phở to help ease my symptoms. Perfect opportunity to try Phở Eden, two blocks away from my new office. Living in South Philadelphia, I’m pretty spoiled for phở, so I walked in with low expectations, which were hugely exceeded. Phở Eden does a brisk take-out business, but after I arrived in the empty restaurant a gaggle of foreign exchange students and then various locals showed up. I got the phở with flank steak and brisket, as well as a sweetened ice tea. While not as fast as the Washington Avenue phở places, my soup arrived pretty quickly with its accompaniments of bean sprouts, lime, basil, and jalapenos. The broth was rich, with glistening oil on top. The noodles needed a couple minutes to soften, but once they did, it was a good combination. My only complaint was that the brisket was a bit too fatty, but the flank made up for it. Shot after shot of sriracha ensured a sinus clearing lunch that made me feel 100% better. Took a long time for the check to come, long enough that I just went up and paid(after seeing someone dine and dash – not cool!).
