I only have good things to say about the High Spot! The happy hour is on point. LOVE the buffalo oysters, and before I had those – I didn’t like buffalo anything, so that’s could tell you something. Love the Manhattans! Love The owner’s passion for good beer, good whiskey/bourbon and of course – good food! The beer fest is a fun and tipsy thing to participate in. OHMYGOSH I almost forgot about the 420 burger. You need this in your mouth… If you can fit it in! :)

This is a cool little place. The atmosphere is charming. Too bad that’s about all it has going for it. Stood at the front for 5 minutes before we realized that the host was in the back of the restaurant just staring at us. The service was friendly but not great. Let me start by saying that I almost didn’t go here because mirepoix was spelled wrong on the menu I saw online(spelled Mir Poi), but decided to give it a go anyway since I heard good things about it. I should have went with my gut. I started with a cucumber cocktail after being denied my first choice because they were out of peach purée(which apparently happens frequently according to our server). Why would you put rotten mint in a clear beverage. I can see it very clearly. I got the waffle, BBQ burger. LOL. The waffles were TERRIBLE. The burger was tough. The beef BBQ was a soppy, watery mess. I also tried the red beet eggs, and immediately spit them out. The Brussel sprouts were the best part. Cooked perfectly. My girlfriend got the Boursin Dijon chicken. The chicken was fried to the color black. The sauce was broken and the mash was so starchy that you could spackle a wall with it. When I first sat down, I wondered why they had pints of salt and pepper on the table. It didn’t take long to figure out why. EVERYTHING needed to be seasoned. The menu sounds absolutely awesome, the execution is a colossal mess all around. I thought we found a cute spot to frequent but I was sadly mistaken. You won’t catch me there again.

The High Spot is a great option in Cambridge. They have a good beer selection and lots of great menu items. I had the chicken pot pie at lunch when I went most recently, and it was very good. It’s also nice that they take reservations.

After a busy day of hustle & bustle during our first day in Cambridge, we were starved for something good to eat. I’m a fan of gastropubs, so that’s where we landed. High Street is located downtown, but really quiet for a Friday night. I was happy to find the pub pretty lively with neighborhood folks. There were many interesting food options and craft brews. I finally decided on their seasonal Moscow mule which was served in a cute, hammered copper mug. I also tried their version of shrimp & grits. My entrée was creatively prepared featuring creamy grits, lots of flavorful shrimp, and topped with sautéed kale. It was so filling! My friend ordered a chicken dish which was good too, but the portion size was kind of small. She was hungry 2 hours after dinner. Service was good and the folks bold enough to interact with us were friendly.

On a beautiful late-autumn day, my wife and I were looking for a place to have lunch before going for a hike at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge. A friend had mentioned the excellent beer selections here so we gave it a try. So glad we did. We grabbed a table outside since the weather was so nice. The ropes along the sidewalk were a real pain. The wait-staff had to keep walking over them. Not only were the beer offerings excellent, many local beers, but both the salads were extraordinary. She had the kale caesar salad(don’t remember the proper name) with chicken strips. So good and filling she could eat the whole thing, but she did try. I had the 305 salad and it too was great. For an appetizer we split Marilyn’s Crab Soup. It was the best crab soup I’ve had in a long time. This place immediately became our go-to in Cambridge. All was nicely priced, too. We will be back.

I love kale and I love caesar salad. Now I love High Spot’s Southern Caesar salad! Kale, tomatoes, candied pecans, fried chicken and caesar salad dressing in one huge bowl. We also had some of the best cream of crab soup ever. If the weather permits eat outside on the sidewalk tables. A nice cobblestone street keeps traffic moving slowly.

Ordered the fish tacos and found they were excellent! Excellent food, great atmosphere. Service was pleasant and completed the tasks required, but lacked a bit of experience.

This review is for the service only. The hostess was very kind on the phone and we were able to get a table for 20 minutes later, which is great for a Friday night. We walked in and were immediately seated. The restaurant was very chilly for a cold November evening. Unfortunately after 10 minutes no one had said a word to us. Several of the wait staff looked over and saw us, but we didn’t even get a «I’ll be with you in a minute.» It was pretty full, but didn’t seem crazy, so I don’t know what happened. They appeared to be well staffed, and not short-handed. We were starving so we got up and left. The menu looked good and this place obviously has lots of good reviews — it’s too bad we didn’t get to try the food!

Came here during the ironman as we had a few hours to kill. Perfectly located for spectators, and I suppose there aren’t all that many choices to go eat, but I was disappointed in the actual food. Wait wasn’t long at all to get seated. However the food took so long to come out that we ended up being there for 3 hours anyway. Didn’t mind since it was cold outside, but on any other given day it would have been ridiculous. Beer menu is pretty awesome so I have to give them credit for that. I highly recommend coming here to check out their beer menu. They have mead also which I’ve never tried until then. As for food, the buffalo oysters weren’t as good as the reviews made them out to be. They were just little oysters over fried with Frank’s sauce on top. Meh. The deviled eggs were really tasty and my favorite part of the whole meal. The sauces aren’t too mayo-ey so I really enjoyed them. Crab, mustard, and salmon, all good. Entrees were the most underwhelming. Both Po boy and catfish sandwiches were underseasoned and completely dry. We thought that maybe they forgot to put sauce on it because we couldn’t believe how dry they were. Southern salad wasn’t bad. I love kale so I ate most of it, lightly dressed. Problem was that the fried chicken pieces were over fried so a little too crunchy(didn’t know that was possible) and dry. I had to dip it in some hot sauce to chew and swallow. The burger was okay. Just a standard burger. And the steak– although the mashed potatoes and asparagus were good, the steak was impossible to cut. Even after asking for a sharper knife to cut through the meat, we basically had to butcher it to make them into bite sized pieces. It was unappetizing. The desserts saved the meal. Pumpkin mousse was delicious. Fluffy and creamy, nice pumpkin dessert. And the Maine blueberry cobbler was perfect. Not too sweet, warm, great crust, highly recommend. So although the entrees were not good, the apps(eggs) and dessert and beer brings it up to 3 stars. 2.5 really but I rounded up because there’s not really much other better options around.

4 Stars sounds about right. Fresh food with good beer in a nice atmosphere. I had the crab soup and rockfish po boy — both yummy. They have a bunch of good beer too. Solid.

Great little spot! We ate here with a group of 9 women during a girls trip to the eastern shore. They easily were able to work with a large table and even though our poor waiter had to keep running back a forth for additional drink orders or other requests he was always helpful and pleasant. A great employee, The fried pickles were HUGE and fanatic. They will feed the whole table. The groups also loved the crab dip and crab cakes. I had the duck fat burger and it was amazing. The fried duck egg was perfect with it. I also had a side of Mac and cheese and loved that you could pick your cheese! Great beer list as well. I’m not sure I’ll be back in the area but if I am this place would be on my list.

Thought I’d my review since two years have passed. Our party sampled the fish and chips, the fried goat cheese salad, and the chicken and waffles. Everybody was happy with the food, price wise it is a bit on the high side though, which we hope that the wait staff would keep in mind because they were the weak link. So, we’ll keep the 4 stars for this review. To sum it up, yay for the food, and a bit of a nay for the service. All in all would recommend.

Meh, we had high hopes for this place since we are back and forth to the beach quite a bit during the summer. We like their Stoked restaurant nearby so we thought that we’d give this place a try. We went on a slow weeknight. Service was sporadic. Our appetizers and kid’s meals were on the table for a long time before we had to actually ask for silverware. This kid’s mac&cheese looked tasty and they seemed to like it. I had the Caesar salad with steak with made it an $ 18 salad. Pretty high expectations for a salad at that price and it was just ok. I ordered a glass of Educated Guess Cab which I drink at home a lot. Watching the barkeep pour it was clear that they were nearing the bottom of the bottle. I got a very light pour that was an inch lower than the red next to it on the bar going out to another table. Kinda lame for a good wine at $ 12 a glass. It was good so, I ordered a second glass thinking they would crack a new bottle, nope. They finished off the bottle and that was that, a smaller pour than my first small pour. Ridiculous. The mussels looked good. So I’d say the food is perhaps 4 stars albeit a tad over-price for Cambridge, MD. The service is dragging this place down at least one star. We likely won’t go back.

Expected more than your usual offerings in Cambridge, but didn’t live up to hype or price. Service was surly and food was blah. Beers on tap were very limited despite the advertisements for brewpub style selections. Tuna was overcooked to gray. Salad was pint size. Had to deal with waiter with attitude, which is never worth it. Skip this one.

First time dining here and we went on a quiet Tuesday evening. I had the Cajun Red Snapper special and my wife had the CODBLT Tacos. Both meals were good, but neither was groundbreaking in their display or taste. Good, but not great. The Tacos were on the smaller side, so you’d probably be better ordering the fish and chips. The Mango salsa wasn’t particularly special, and there wasn’t much of it. The Red Snapper was flavorful. It came with 4 medium sized shrimp which was a surprise as I didn’t know it was a part of the meal. Dessert(brownie sundae) was outstanding as was our service. We would certainly go back again to try some different plates.

The crab dip is delicious… It’s a must try!!! The crab dip is way better than the crab cakes. The happy hour specials are great. The crab dip will make you dislike everything but the fresh crab dip.

Will not be returning. Slow service and had a hard time getting my water refilled. I had an expired Unilocal deal that was still good for the amount that was paid for it. Whatever manager on duty did not know that I could still use the paid amount(not the promotional amount). Why did they promote Unilocal deals w/o realizing how they work? The food was not good. I ordered a shrimp sandwich. The bread was super touch and the sandwich(over $ 10) had 4 small shrimp on it. I couldn’t even eat the bread. This place tries too hard. Will never return.
