I used to like Stone Hearth a lot… I say used to because this location is closing down soon, to be replaced by Upper Crust.

I used to like this place, but something seems off with them the past few months. It’s like they don’t even want any business: their hours never seem to match what their website or Foodler has listed for them, they always seem to close an hour or two early whenever I try to order from them lately. I really wanted to support a place that uses local produce and meat, but they don’t want my money. Judging from all the other locations closing it looks like this business is in a slow downward spiral. Any bets on how long this Porter Square site will last.

This place really listens to feedback. Still one of the healthiest places in town for pizza. The toppings have been very full!

After craving GF pizza and driving a ways to satisfy that need, my experience at Stone Hearth Pizza was disappointing. Despite the friendly service, the GF Margarita pizza crust was tooth breakingly hard, and the«fresh tomatoes» were canned and unseasoned. The special request arugula Caesar salad was served with plenty of Parmesan, and dressing on the side instead of mixed in, and the dressing itself tasted like garlic paste. I used to love making the extra trip to Cambridge instead of their mediocre Belmont location, yet now I won’t make a trip back to any of their restaurants. What a bummer!

The buffalo chicken pizza and parmesan flatbread are both incredible.

I’ve had several really great meals here in the past, so I’m sorry to have to write a negative review. On Valentine’s day weekend, I chose Stone Hearth for a date night. We ordered a pizza that took nearly an hour to arrive in an empty restaurant. When we asked, the waiter finally admitted they had burned it(he should have told us immediately). The second pizza arrived and was undercooked and the chicken was freezer-burned. The pizza was also topped with boiled potatoes. Sorry, but you only put roasted potatoes on a pizza. Boiled potatoes are tasteless and lead to one thing that’s death to a pizza: soggy crust. Though they offered us a 25% discount($ 5 off a $ 20 pizza) I want to say something all restauranteurs need to hear: if you make a mistake, the item should be free. Just down the street, I’ve had innumerable great meals at Cambridge Common, an extremely well-run and long-lived restaurant. Every single time I’ve eaten there and the food came late they gave us the entire meal free. That’s how you end up with a full restaurant every night and loyal customers. I wrote to Stone Hearth on their website, but received no response despite their website’s invitation to write to the management if they made a mistake so they could make things right. Stone Hearth, your focus should be on getting your customer to return, not covering up your mistakes to make a check for an evening. This is sign of bad management. The result was a spoiled meal and a botched date. Stone Hearth, I was counting on you to come through for me for Valentine’s Day and you let me down!

Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. The Divine Goddess is delicious. It’s more expensive than Harvard House, but much, MUCH better.

Seems like a Shocking downgrade from 5 stars but sadly something has changed about stone hearth. We were so happy to have stone hearth in our hood but, what used to be complex, fresh, straight from the garden flavors with light vivacious crust now is far from it. Crust is dense and lifeless and the ingredients seem less fresh and less healthy. I can’t put my finger on it but it applies to all ingredients. Where once ai would eat it and feel good, now I eat it and feel unhealthy, thirsty. Knowing every establishment has a bad day, this review is not based on one experience. Three bad experiences in at this point I can not give it another try, it’s just not as good anymore. I have spoken to friends and colleagues about my lament and they also shared in my experience. Alas. Sticking with flatbreads for now.

It is surprising to me that Stone Hearth Pizza is not more popular. Every single time that I go here I have only seen a max of four people eating at a time. Clearly, a lot of people order takeout but the fact that they have open seats all the time is crazy. The pizza is to die for here. The sausage and caramelized onions pizza is one of the best that I have had in Cambridge. They offer very healthy options at Stone Hearth and a lot of the menu is gluten free making it easy for those on a diet to eat here. Stone Hearth gets many its ingredients from local farms so all the food is very fresh, delicious and local. The buffalo wings are also amazing. Stone Hearth is not too expensive and offers very big portions. If you want to go to a pizza place that is also a good quiet work space then Stone Hearth Pizza is an excellent place for you to go.

Customer:(me) Hi your menu says«mushroom blend» what kind exactly are they? Employee: Ummm kinda tiny black things. Customer:(thinking that is a REALLY unappetizing description!!) ok, I will take a large spinach and black olive thin crust. Upon receiving the pizza(which was about medium sized, but I think that IS their large for $ 20 bucks) what we got was about a few scraps of spinach that one could barely taste and Kalamata olives. Not«black olives» like you would usually get when ordering black olives. I wish they would have specified. Between the salt in the sauce and cheese AND the salty Kalamatas we will not take our chances again. Please Stone Hearth: your crust is good, but too much cheese, too much salt and Kalamatas should be specified and don’t cheap out on the spinach.

I’m pretty sure I’ve been to all the stone hearth locations but probably go to cambridge most often. The chopped salad is one of my favorite salads ever. I will often order two, one to eat immediately and the other to take to work for lunch the next day. The gluten free pizza crust is one of the best out there IMO and seeing as the husband’s gluten free, I’ve tried many. It’s very thin and crispy. The bbq chicken pizza is particularly good. The meatball poppers are also pretty amazing. They always have good looking specials but because I love my go to dishes so much, I tend not to stray.

Excellent lentil soup today! A small/cup size is a lot more than expected in my big bowl after ordering it to go. It was only $ 4.50. Paninis and salads are great! Lots and lots of varieties with pizzas! Food is fresh and made to order. Friendly staff! Good location near Porter Square.

The crust was decent. Everything else was pretty meh. I’m no pizza snob, either. I ordered a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and ricotta — got a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and goat cheese. 2⁄3 isn’t so bad… but I gotta say, goat cheese on a pizza is not desirable. Delivery took a reasonable amount of time.

We specifically went out of our way on Sunday to go to Stone Hearth Pizza because we saw they had gluten-free pizza. We arrived around 8pm. They advised us that they were closing early, even though their website says they stay open until 9pm on Sundays. We left disappointed.

I ordered from Stone Hearth for delivery and they had my pies in about 20 – 25 minutes. I ordered the margherita and white bean pies, and was a little disappointed by the quantity of the food that I got. Stone Hearth is a gluten free place and their menu emphasizes healthy eating so I knew I was not going to get a NY style pie(I didn’t want one, either!) but their small pizza was REALLY small and thin. I’ve been to restaurants that advertise«thin» pizza before but never something like this. All in all, the taste was decent and I’d go back, but I’d order up to the large if I actually wanted a full meal.

If you are looking to give your business to a local restaurant that promises a 45 minute delivery and increases that delivery time to 120 minutes with no refund to you, then Stone Hearth Pizza in Cambridge is your place! Is your address similar to another address in the city you live in, then take advantage of the restaurants free food tour! That’s right, Stone Hearth Pizza will deliver it first to the address that isn’t yours! It’s great! While it may extend the already insane amount of time it will take you to get your food from less than 2 miles away, it will give your pizza and other dinner items a courtesy tour of the surrounding neighborhoods at NOADDITIONALCHARGE! What a deal! Unlike other ordinary pizza places that will just deliver your pizza straight from the restaurant to your door, they take the time to really get to know your food items before they get to you. Sure, they’ll be cold and soggy and not enjoyable to ingest at all, but hey, that’s just a small price to pay for truly fresh ingredients with local connections. And don’t worry about thanking the management, because even if you attempt to get a refund while you’re reheating your food in your oven, they won’t give you one because you’ve accepted the delivery that they made 75 minutes past the time they told you it would be there. Now THAT’s customer service.

I really like the salad here but I am not a fan of the pizza. I just don’t like the sauce, cheese, toppings, and crust. I love pizza but it’s too thin for me and is too chewy and too pricey. But, a salad and a glass of wine is a nice option for me. I don’t like their lemonade though, tastes like junk/minute maid or some crap. The service can be aloof quite a bit here and that is off putting. But, they do make a damn good salad, so there’s that. Wish they had outdoor seating. I hate sitting in here because it turns into a hangout for lots of kids and their parents who seem to enjoy ignoring them. The tables are too close for comfort for me.

Not the best pizza in the Cambridge but certainly more solid than i thought it would be. Beware of the thai chillies on the Pizza, I do like hot food a lot but those chillies were rough

Really nice gluten-free pizza place in Cambridge! We love the flavors and quality of pizza we get, especially if it’s take-out from the restaurant. We have had a few issues with pizza crust being very brown/burnt for the gluten-free pizzas when we order delivery — so now we remind them not to burn the pizza for delivery haha. It works! Also, gluten-free brownie = yum

I was very excited about trying the pizza here as I am a huge thin crust pizza fan. I was slightly disappointed, but not really in my pizza. We got some of the drinks to start — The little girl got a lemonade. But someone brought her milk. Weird right? This was quickly remedied and she was brought the right drink. However, she ended up not liking it and drank the milk instead. I tried it and it was OK, nothing too special. The man got a flavored iced tea which was delicious and I got a Maine Root Beer which was awesome! Now on the food — We got the wings to start, but they served us with the buffalo sauce on the side. Did we ask for it on the side? No. And now we have to try to dip the awkward shaped wings into this little cup. I know it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but one of my favorite things about wings is that they are covered in sauce and gooey and messy to eat! They were pretty tasty though. The little girl got a cheese pizza which she raved about. She even said(and I quote), «Can we move into this restaurant so we can eat here everyday?» Ahhh to have the dreams of a 5 year old. I got the caramelized onion and sausage pizza, which while tasty, wasn’t as crispy as I liked. I don’t like it when pizza flops down at the end, I want it nice and stiff(hee hee). I debated asking for it to be extra crispy when I ordered, but then I thought, «This is a thin crust pizza place, I’m sure it will come out crispy.» I won’t make that mistake again! The man got a Chicken Cesar wrap, and while tasty, it was seriously lacking in the chicken department. Was it tasty? Yes. Was it worth the $ 60 bill? Not quite sure. I haven’t given up, I think I am going to give it another shot to get it right.
