As someone who has lived in Harvard Square for the past 7 years, this is my favorite Thai spot in the area. It is owned by the same people(I think) as 9 Tastes down the road, but I much prefer the ambiance at Spice. I have been here many times over the years and they consistently have fast, reliable service and good food. I almost always order either the pad thai or the pad see ew. The pad see ew has wide soft noodles that are chewy and covered with a dark soy sauce, with some vegetables and fried egg added in. The pad thai has more of a peanut flavor than other places that I have eaten at, but I like the added flavor and the crunchy peanut crumbles they add on top. Other recommendations include their crispy chicken pad thai(with strips of golden brown fried crispy chicken) and the Thai iced tea.

Absolutely delicious! Went for dinner on a weekend with my husband and daughters. Service, food, décor top notch. We will most definitely be back! A+++

Food was okay. Service okay but they seemed to be out of stock of essentials including red wine and rice??? Not sure how you can run a restaurant and not have these essentials.

I know its boring to order the same thing over and over again, but I’ve had the spicy basil chicken at least a dozen times; I love it. The side of rice that comes with it is fairly small, I order an extra side of rice to go with it. Appetizers are good, prices are modest, its generally easy to get a table.

I’ve been here three times in the past two months for big group get-togethers — overall, fairly satisfied with my experience each and every time. The thai tea isn’t the most authentic, but still more authentic than the thai tea other boba place in the square(Boston Tea Stop); I also don’t necessarily come here for the beverages. Big ups for the fried rice, scallion pancakes, and crab rangoon! Note that while the entrees come in big portions, the appetizers certainly don’t. Slow-ish service, but it’s worth the wait.

I honestly think the food here is just average/maybe below average. It’s pretty cheap so if that is what you are looking for, then you have come to the right place. One upside is that the service is very friendly.

We’ve been to Spice multiple times for years now. We have never left disappointed. Tonight we had dinner here and ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Curry Puffs, and Chicken Green Curry. Everything was delicious. I had tea with my meal and our waitress came over and offered free refills. The portions of our dinner were also very big. So, we were able to get take out and will be eating our delicious leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Also, make sure you grab a take out menu from Spice. In the menu, there is a Dine In coupon for $ 4 off when you spend $ 30 or more!

Go to Spice. Why? Compared to other Thai restaurants, Spice is nothing special, but given that finding a good, affordable restaurant in Harvard Square is difficult, it is great. It’s easy to get a table without a reservation. You may have to wait 15 minutes if it’s busy. The portions are large and I usually have leftovers. You have all of the normal fried rice and pad thai options, but try the curry here. It is really good! I also really like the thai hot or iced tea.

FOODPOISONING! I ate there about a year ago and will never forget the devastation their special fried rice did to me. If you value you’re health AVOID this place at all costs. Oh, and it wasn’t even good either.

Pretty good restaurant in Harvard Square. The service is quick and the waiters/waitresses are very friendly. I always get the drunken noodles when I’m here. They’re nice and thick and seasoned very well. It is a bit on the oily side so beware if you’re trying to find a lighter option. If you’re a group of around 3 – 4 people, this would be a good place.

What? I am confused as to why this place has such crappy ratings. Spice is a really good Thai restaurant with prompt service and really fresh food. We often go to Spice when we are in Harvard Square as its much better than any Thai place in our neighborhood(Back Bay). This place has a nice atmosphere, good food, and reasonable prices. What’s not to love?

We were seated pretty promptly after we arrived. The staff was also responsive when we indicated we wanted to order, etc. I ordered the steam fish fillet, which I thought came with only one fillet, but boy, I was positively surprised that it came with quite more than that! However, if memory serves me right, the portion size for the basil fried rice isn’t as generous(for my appetite — it may be the right size for others). Flavor wise, I thought it was okay. I come back for the convenience and relatively fast service.

Just had lunch today at Spice, it was just excellent, and full of flavor. I had the Mongolian Beef, and I loved it. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone I know. Nice relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff. I have also had Pad Thai there previously, and I would rate it Best of Boston for sure. Looking forward to going back to try Hawaiian Chicken on my next trip to Harvard Square.

Delivery and takeout times are consistently delayed. I’ve had to stand there and wait for around 30 minutes for my food that I ordered many hours in advance. The food is average.

If I could rate it 0 I would. The last three times I’ve ordered my food has been cold and very late. This last time it was 2.5 hours and it never arrived. Had to walk to the store for a refund. Never going here again!

I went to school across the street and this place was my favorite for long. The quality of foods are decent. I particularly loved their chilly fish, green curry, and fried noodles. They always use clean nice glasses and utensils. The table clothes are cute. The tables are small and tightly arranged — but look at the price list. Surprisingly affordable. So no complaint.

We passed this place on our walking tour of Harvard, which wrapped up a couple of blocks away around noon. By that point, we were hungry and headed straight back. There was no wait when we arrived(though there was by the time we finished). Service was not what I’d call friendly, but it was reasonably efficient. The place seemed a bit understaffed, but we didn’t wait overly long to place our order or to get the food. We had a variety of curries and noodles, but everyone finished their dish. One other point; there is only street or garage parking here and it is not cheap. We were already paying for parking for our earlier tour/visit to Harvard, so this wasn’t a factor for us vs. any lunch venues. I might defer more to local residents’ reviews if you want to see how this restaurant compares to other nearby Thai places, as we didn’t visit any others close by. Based on one visit, this place satisfied; recommended.

Cute little place with good pad thai. Prices are reasonable. I like the atmosphere relative to the other thai options in the area. The service was slow and it took forever to get a check. Despite that, I’ll probably go back.

Solid Thai food in the square — Spice is pretty popular because of the wide windows and slightly fancier décor, so I always see couples on dates here, or students eating out with their parents. The service is super attentive — you’ll never find yourself without water. The pad thai was very white, so it was a bit of a shock when it tasted so sweet — since it was so colourless I almost expected it to be flavourless. The shrimp are fat and plump — there were about four in my place. Overall, it is a little overly sweet — the other person in my party who ordered the pad thai barely ate any of it because of the sweetness. Also, there wasn’t much else in the noodle dish except noodles, chicken and shrimp — the peanuts, egg, and veggies were all very sparse. The drunken noodles were fat noodles in a dark, brown sauce that was quite delicious. Their fried rice options are pretty good, as is their vegetarian curry. Dishes range from $ 9-$ 13, which is a tad expensive for a Thai place, but portions were very big. They also have a good range of domestic and imported beers and also wine. Overall, Spice is a solid choice — not overly memorable, but I don’t really forsee anything ever going wrong.
