We were served rancid pork gyoza today. Upon complaining, I just got stares and smiles. No manager present but they dug up an hmart employee to field my complaint and issue a refund. We all ate some and thankfully no one is sick yet but I am watching my children closely, and I am considering filing a complaint with the health department. I’ve eaten here a number of times due to the convenience given the fact that I usually have two kids in tow(there’s space, a change table in the washroom, etc) but the food has never been stellar. This is the last straw, I’ll never spend money here again. Lazy food safety is inexcusable!

I don’t understand why this place gets such bad reviews. As far as the ramen goes it’s the best I’ve had of its kind in Boston. It’s much better than the Porter Square location and there’s no inexplicably long lines either. Plus you get to listen to k-pop while you eat.

The good news is that there’s no line here normally unlike the much more remote location at Porter, the bad news is the quality of the ramen here is not as good as the Sapporo Ramen in Porter square. The joint at Porter had much better and creamier broth and the option for ramen refill for a couple dollars, I don’t think that option exists here, at least not on their menu. The price is also slightly higher than in Porter. All in all I can only say it’s a very average ramen joint that pales in comparison to the location at Porter. It’s sad to know they think they can sacrifice on quality just because on their more central location and volume.

It is an okay ramen place. There is usually not much waiting and plenty of seatings. The price is a bit higher than the ramen houses on the west coast. The five or so times I had ramen there, the style was more like Americanized version of ramen, but was okay to me. The only complaint was that it was perhaps too salty.

Salt city galore… I guess Hmart has salt on constant sale. I couldn’t believe how can a bowl of ramen noodle can be so bad. You are prob better off buying an instant pack of ramen and pour hot water for a better bowl of ramen. Don’t waste your money here

Good news is that this location has actually gotten better over time. When it first opened, it was pretty terrible. Now it looks like they’ve settled into a groove. The ordering process is still pretty confusing but it at least tastes like an average ramen bowl. I usually get the black sesame tan tan noodles. Unfortunately they use ground pork instead of pork slices. The mix broth is much better than before… I can actually drink the broth now, though it’s still a bit on the heavier side. I agree with other reviewers that the black sesame gets lost and overwhelmed in the rest of the flavor. Why do I come back? It’s convenient, and still the better food option compared to Go Go Curry. A solid 3 star overall experience.

I don’t know what I expected. A ramen shop placed inside an HMart seems to be a pretty good idea. Cheap, average quality food, and conveniently located, right? What if I told you it’s a bit more expensive because it’s smack dab in Central Square? Oh, and the ramen’s pretty much terrible. Still interested? The truly astounding thing about Sapporo Ramen is that even with low expectations, I was somehow disappointed. I don’t mind paying a higher price for good food, or alternately if the food isn’t as good but is convenient and cheap. Really, the only thing this place has going for it is its placement. I can’t believe I was disappointed by this place, but here we are. Don’t bother if you can help it.

What makes a ramen, a ramen is not the name«ramen.» It is the juicy, savory broth. It is the fresh, delicious noodle. It is the soul of the ramen chef. It is all that Sapporo Ramen simply does not have. Save yourself $ 10. Go elsewhere.

Overpriced food court /convenience mart ramen. Even if you’re just paying for convenience, ramen priced at $ 10−12/bowl really needs to be at least passable. Miso ramen was so salty that I couldn’t really taste the ramen broth, my tastebuds went straight into shock, now in PTSD. Ground pork in ramen is just a poor supplement/substitute for pork belly, fail.

I ordered the spicy miso with ground pork, and felt it was worth paying $ 2 extra for because the regular was a little bland and fatty tasting. The ramen noodles were suuuuuper chewy(which I like!), but not necessarily what I’m used to with Ramen. Could use a few more greens in the ramen. I personally would not order the sushi here. Maybe a dollar or two too price-y for the location and product, but glad to have it in the area.

Deserves the two stars: generous toppings(in my veggie ramen) but they were cold and the bland broth did not help. The ambience is noisy and cluttered since this is a bit if a food court adjacent to an HMart. I’ve had much better ramen before and will probably kit return except for extenuating circumstances.

Got the spicy miso ramen. It was pretty serviceable for a pre-shopping meal. The GOOD: The noodles were the right texture, and I liked the pork(well-cooked, marbled). Room for IMPROVEMENT: The broth, it lacked complexity. Maybe that’s what sapporo-style ramen is like, but I would be looking for more flavor.

This Ramen was not very good at all. Broth was too(black) peppery.

I was excited about trying out this place after hearing so many good things about this place. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype and was disappointed. I ordered the pork and veggie ramen(not sure what the exact name is) and it was not appealing at all. First of, the soup was really oily so I was scared of leaving the veggies and ramen in there too long. Second, for something that is $ 10, it was not worth it. Ramen didn’t taste anything different or unique and for what they charge, they give you the cheapest veggies: cabbages and bean sprouts with a sprinkle of mince pork on top. I could have easily made my own ramen and it would probably cost a lot more less than what I spent here. I don’t mind just trying this place out just to see what people were talking about, but I wouldn’t come here for long term. If you are really craving for some ramen, I suggest you make your own at home and since this place is inside the h-mart, you can just buy your ingredients here.

Quick and easy option after an exhausting grocery trip. I had low expectations based on what I heard from other reviews. But this place does not disappoint. I got the Miso Spicy Ramen. The ramen has really good chewy noodles and I really like their spicy miso broth. For a food court food with no long lines, I am pretty satisfied with what I had. I would come back whenever I visit HMart.

I seriously want to like this more. And since it is so convenient for me I will probably continue to try it and update reviews as they get better, or worse, or replaced by something else. This is the definition of ramen going mainstream, there’s nothing really unique. However, if you haven’t had(non-instant) ramen before it is a good easy entry to the world of ramen.

I’ve visited the Porter Square location many times, and have had consistently good meals despite the long wait. Sapporo’s Central Square location in a hallway leading to HMart was a huge let down. There was no line on a quiet Monday night and I should have taken this as a sign. I ordered the Central Ramen and agree with other reviewers that I would have been better off buying my own package ramen from HMart and adding hot water than paying $ 9.50 for this. First, the ramen had an odd smell when I picked it up from the counter. Second, the ramen was so salty that it almost overpowered any other flavor(including the odd smell). Third, the noodles seemed of inferior quality — of the«Cup of Noodles» type — definitely not the ramen I’ve come to love in Porter Square. I was excited by the convenience of this location, and the flashy interior, but was very disappointed. Something is definitely off in this location, and perhaps the management is going more for a quick take-out window than providing the quality noodles one finds amidst the competition of the Lesley Asian-Food alley. Stay on the Red Line for two more stops and go to the Porter Square location.

Was surprised by the low ratings here — while the ramen isn’t amazing, it’s not terrible either. I’ve had it both at the place and take out(very delicious on a cold rainy night). Spicy miso broth is rich enough, though tends to have so much noodle and not alot of ingredients for the price that they charge. Note that the broth is salty and probably MSG filled, but isn’t that while ramen broth tends to be like? The sliced pork pieces are tender and well cooked, and there’s a generous helping of beansprouts. Wouldn’t say it’s the most authentic ramen out there, but there’s alot of worse food out there that gets 3 stars. Definitely not Ippudo or anything fancy but decent, basic ramen that could be cheaper.

You’re better off buying pre-packaged ramen at H mart and adding your own top ramen broth than to spend $ 10 here. The ramen taste store bought and not authentic at all. The entire bowl was pretty much cabbage and noodles, wheres the good stuff?!! For the broth… it was absolutely flavorless. Sriracha saved its life.

Been to Hmart 3 time trying to get their ramen because I’m determined like that: 1st. was told it would be a 30 minute wait — felt depressed and ordered something else — got curry — wasn’t too crazy about that, meh. Hell bent on getting that ramen or die trying. 2nd. oh yay no line, about to order… they slap on a NOMORERAMEN sign, went home and eat my kimchi pajun just bought at Hmart(delicious) 3rd. WOOT got to try the house ramen… Oooh excitement. After begging all the mean ppl so we can get some seats — and seriously I asked if someone sit there not for your first born child so don’t snark at me. Gee some of the customers are so rude. Grr. Anyways finally got a seat, got my food, ready to try it annnnd… Oh I’m not a fan of Ramen. I mean at least I’ve tried it and I can say that nope I don’t like it. Guess I’m not use to the slippery noodle and the strangely umami salty taste. I guess the two slice of pork is edible… I try to savor the broth but I didn’t have a bottle of water to wash the taste of salt out of my mouth. Thought: maybe something is wrong with my palate… or maybe it just wasn’t good ramen.
