MIT’s Libraries — OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
If you do a google search for MIT libraries, a very convenient, up-​to-​date page will appear showing the hours and locations of the many libraries on campus. Some, such as Hayden Library, are open until midnight on most days and offers free scanning (scan to pdf and color scans), has a water machine (hot and cold), computers anyone can use, and is an all-​around great place to get work done. There is a nice spread of academics of all ages, students, professors, and professionals. Most people there are courteous, clean, and quiet.

Clean and well organized. Its a great place to sit down to study and eat. The only thing I would watch out for are the birds. When your not paying attention, they will approach you and steal w/​e they can! Cheers

Whether your after delectable sandwich (La Verdes), burrito (Anna’s), science fiction novel (largest scifi library in the world), ballroom dancing, or a haircut — the MIT student center has it alllll.
Don’t embarrass yourself by staring a directory on the first floor. Take the stairs up one floor and study the directory there.

So this review is kind of random… However, I had to throw it out there… the student center at MIT has THE BEST grilled ham & cheese I have ever had. EVER. If you’re near the area, I would highly recommend it for a cheap, quick eat. Amazing!!!

I like to sit under the trees in the gravel picnic area. This is one of the best places to sit in Cambridge, aside from the open area in front of Au Bön Pain in Harvard Sq. and the JFK park in front of the JFK School of Government. The only problem is that the birds here have evolved to be really aggressive. They always seem to think you’re about to fling pastry crumbs from the pastry you just bought out from the Student Center. Within two minutes of sitting down, you are surrounded by these birds, birds who have finely honed this instinct for homing in on carbohydrate shedding human beings over dozens of generations of natural selection. Ten bird-​generations from now, I bet they will be stealing food right out from human hands. In 30 generations, they will be attacking humans, trying to make them drop their croissants under pressure.
