Questionable business practices.
What started as a good relationship quickly turned sour.
I needed to have a Greek birth certificate translated to English. One document for $ 125 with the understanding that if there were any small errors they’d be corrected for free. I agreed and supplied them the document in person. After they delivered the finished product. I noticed that there were a few mistakes on the original (not a fault of Linguistic Systems). So I ultimately got a corrected Greek birth certificate that still needed a translation. The said that it’s a totally different document and that it had too many changes for them to do another translation for free. I argued that it’s still the one Greek birth certificate that had its’ form update by the Greek Government since the original and that the information is almost identical. They refused to hear my points and said that it’s not the same document since the 1 page form changed. I even showed them the 2 originals side by side to show that it’s materially the same document. The representative and her manager increasingly became more belligerent as I tried to plea my case. Furthermore, I felt their reasoning was weak and didn’t have any legitimate basis for charging me another $ 125 other than getting more $ out of me.
I finally found another firm that would do a certified translation with full credentials for $ 85. The lesson that I learned the hard way was to get everything clearly spelled out with firms such as much as possible. I would not recommend this firm for any translation needs. Many other credible organizations exist as I found out.
