I went to see Nacre Dance Company perform at this location on October 19th. The theater is located on E. Main Street and unless you know Cambridge you will probably drive by it 3 times before you accidentally pull into a parking lot and realize that you’re there.(Note: a light on the building sign or a clapboard sidwalk sign would be extremely helpful, or just know that is it next to «the coffee store»). There is a wide and steep stair case to get up to the performance space. The elevator is small; advises that capacity limit is 2 people and 1 wheelchair or 1400lbs… I’m concerned. It also took almost 2 minutes to go from the«3rd floor» to the basement where the restrooms are. There is a proscenium stage but for this show they turned it around and put the performance space on the floor and used temporary risers for the seating. Seating was snug. The lighting rigs were limited and did not sufficiently illuminate the performance space, but I do enjoy some shadow when watching dance. The space is being rehabbed so I anticipate lots of changes and upgrades will come in the next several years.
