The best dentist I have ever been to! Let’s start from the time I called as a first time patient. The receptionist was very warm & welcoming & even greeted me by my name when I walked in. Dr. Bane is also very friendly and explains everything he is going to do. I went in for a regular check up and clean up — he was very thorough and gentle. Usually my sensitive teeth make cleanings uncomfortable and painful but Dr. Bane applied some numbing gel (he even offers several flavors!) and the cleaning was done before I knew it. So happy to have an amazing professional nearby and I highly recommend Dr. Bane to everyone!

My husband and I like to say that Dr. Bane cleans your teeth with a whisper and a wish.
Seriously, the most gentle dentist I have ever had.
Dr. Bane is a gem and I have nothing but positive things to say about my two years experience with his practice. Scheduling is easy and includes extended hours (early mornings and evenings), reminder postcards and a call from Dr. Bane’s sweet assistant, Yumi. Service is prompt, the space is neat, and the location is easy. Dr. Bane does all the work himself– the preliminary exam, x-​rays, cleaning– he does not seem to have a hygienist working with him that I’ve seen. He is so incredibly gentle. But best of all, he is trustworthy. He’s never tried to hock me a service like every other dentist I’ve had (ranging from fancy electric toothbrushes to expensive whitening services and everything in between…). What a relief!

Awesome dentist and one of the nicest people. He is very quiet, professional, and quick. My family and I have been going to him for years and no matter where I find myself living I always go to Dr. Bane when I get back into Boston for the holidays!

Due to my embarassingly sensitive teeth, the dentist office is more like a torture chamber for me than anything else. I just moved to this area and was dreading finding a new dentist because I hate to inflict my lameness as a dental patient on anyone.
I was having pain in a tooth that has been troubling me for years. I called Dr. Bane’s office and he fit me in right away. He said I needed a root canal (after an exceedingly gentle examination and xray) and referred me to a specialist because, as he said, as a general dentist, he lacks the experience and expertise to do it well and fast in accordance with the latest techniques. Imagine that! A dentist who is more interested in someone else doing the job right than insisting on doing it himself to make money. His lovely secretary even called to get me an appointment with a specialist that day.
With that one experience, Dr. Bane has earned my loyalty for as long as I live in Cambridge.
Needless to say I will be going back to Dr. Bane when it comes time for the torture… I mean my next teeth cleaning. He promised that we would work together to find a way to overcome this sensitivity problem, and I believe him because, darn it, he is just too nice to lie about something like that.
Bonus: I love the old house and the classical music in the office, and the location (corner of Rindge and Mass Ave, not too far from Porter Square) can’t be beat.

I have lived in several states therefore have had many dentists and Dr. Bane is far and away the best dentist I have ever had.
He is not only a good dentist but a very gentle, easy going and friendly person and he makes you feel calm and relaxed.
Even though we are moving far away soon (Over an hour) we will continue to see Dr. Bane. He is wonderful!

Dr. Bane is just the kindest, most wonderful dentist I have ever had. I look forward to getting my teeth cleaned and have recommended him to no fewer than 4 other people, each of whom have found him equally lovely.
He is our family dentist, too. My kid has had nothing but good experiences, even though she’s had cavities filled and teeth pulled in his chair.
