This would be the place to go if you were a young guy who didn’t like looking so young. You will for sure get a generic middle-aged dude haircut. I usually get an almost-undercut which is probably the most popular cut these days among 20– and 30-something guys with a shred of style, but Eddie gave me The Dad. It’s an okay haircut, I guess, but not especially meticulously done– there are more than a few stray longer hairs, but the top is shorter than I wanted overall. Nothing hip about this place whatsoever. The man was reading Reader’s Digest, of all things! And the ancient tube TV was tuned to FOX News. I don’t need my barbershop to look cool, but I do want my hair to look somewhat cool. Didn’t get it here.

I’ve been here twice, and I’ve been very pleased both times. I went in recently and Eddie asked if I’d been there before since I looked familiar, which I found impressive since I hadn’t been there in probably 6 months. This is the type of place I look for when I get a haircut. Quality hair cut(he’s got decades of experience in this regard), good price($ 16), not overly talkative, TV right by the chair, and convenient location(less than 5 min from Central Square).

Came in, got a great haircut without having to describe it too much, paid, left. No more rolling the dice on my hairdo with Supercuts.

I had the pleasure of stopping in to Eddie’s barber shop a few weeks ago when business brought me to Cambridge. I moved out of Boston a long time ago, but as someone born in Cambridge, it was a trip down memory lane. My father grew up around the corner and started coming here when he was very young and when I was old enough, he brought me here, too. Heck, my two brothers got their haircut here as well — for decades. Eddie always gave a solid haircut and a very good straight razor shave, so I was excited to see he was still in business when I rolled into town needing a beard trim and a back of the neck shave. The inside of the place is old school barber shop. It still has the same interior as did in the 1980’s — probably that way looked the 60’s and 70’s, too. Anyway, the beard trim was excellent. Eddie is a real practitioner of his trade. He took his time and made sure it was a job done right. He also cleaned up the sides of my head with the scissors and cleaned up my neck with a straight razor with precision. If you live in the Central Square area and want an excellent, no-nonsense haircut, shave or beard trim, head on over to Eddie Priest.

I’ve been here 5 or 6 times for a 3 on the top 2 on the sides. Other reviewers are spot on about the quality of his work and the right amount of chattiness. Cash only so stop by the atm in central square before you come. If you’re feeling like a treat, get a shave, it’s an experience.

I’ve been looking for a good men’s barber in Central Square for a year now and finally found this place. He’s been cutting hair since the 1960s and it shows in the high quality of his work — my hair isn’t all that difficult to cut but has been screwed up way too many times. Adds a straight razor neck shave too, which is great. He’s very nice, and talks exactly the right amount, something I also really appreciate. I will definitely be back.

I was nervous about coming here, because this place only had 1 review on Unilocal.I’m glad I came anyway. This is a classic, old-school barber shop. The kind from days gone by, complete with red white and blue spiraled barber pole out front. Mismatched furniture inside and the kind of authenticity that comes from running a business for decades, not buying a bunch of knickknacks from the cast of «Pickers» and chucking it around the room like a TGI Friday’s. A classic barber works at his chair; he has a deft touch and knows what he is doing. He is friendly, but won’t talk your ear off. He has a weakness for trashy daytime television, but I’ve heard of worse weaknesses. He charges $ 16 for a haircut, but they’re worth more. In the white-hot property market of Cambridge, it’s little more than a miracle this place hasn’t been sold out and turned into a million-dollar condo. If you want a quality haircut, come by this place before it gets steamrolled into another Gap Kids or some similar crap.

Been to a few haircut places and those have been salons. While they were both very good my haircut isn’t worth more than 25 dollars. Every week when I commute to work, I always walk by this spot. So I walk in and Eddie sits me down for a haircut. This guy has cut hair for a long time and you can certainly tell with how procedural he is. For $ 14, it’s more than a bargain in Cambridge and Boston in general. He is closed on Wednesdays but is open until 4. Give this place a try.
