Great cuts, reasonable price, super friendly barber. This guy cares about his work and his clients and seems to have many long-time regular clients because of it.

Fred did an amazing job in record time, and he was a great guy to chat with. I was very pleased with the end result. His attention to detail was like nothing I’d ever seen– straight razored the edges and vacuumed all the loose hairs off. Also a very reasonable price. No BS, pleasant experience, great work. I’ll be back again for sure.

Walked in and got a chair right away on a Saturday. Good cut for a reasonable price. I’d go back again.

Great barbershop! Cost me only $ 20 including tip and the barber gave me a great haircut and was very nice and easy to talk to. Watch out because the map on Unilocal places this in harvard square but it is really north on mass ave just past the law school

Very convenient location and they get the job done. I was worried about going to a new place, but as soon as I arrived my fears were alleviated. I was welcomed into the shop and I took a seat. I had a short wait, but that is expected on a Saturday afternoon. The cut itself was quick, but thorough and professional. And all for only $ 16! This is going to be my new go-to place.

Tony is the best. Come here for a quick haircut from a local who knows a lot about everything. Very friendly. Convenient. What more can you ask for? Haircuts are decent and you usually receive a nice old fashion razor shave. It’s a barber shop, not a stylist, so don’t be expecting the Hollywood treatment. Get in and out and on with living! They have a TV, usually playing a sports channel so if you’re waiting, which may take from 10 to 20 minutes, can be a nice distraction from the lively conversation taking place. This place is closed Wednesday and accepts cash only; less than $ 20. Meters out front if you drive. A lot of regulars here but a lot of walk-ins too.

These guys are great. Cheap, quality, no-nonsense haircuts. The place is tiny — two chairs, and these days usually just one barber. However, they do walk-ins, and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 – 10 minutes. My favorite barber in Cambridge.

I got a haircut early in the morning on my way to work and the cut was totally uneven across the top and the front. I asked for a fade up the back and the guy shaved a jagged line across the back of my neck. He didn’t clean up around the ears or thin it our at all. When he went for the straight razor, he only shaved the sides of my neck and didn’t even touch the back. Long story short, this was definitely the worst haircut I’ve ever had. I had to go to another barber shop to have them clean it up.

Had to get a haircut here for an interview on a weekday. Old-school place with two guys, really small and a tv with the game on to keep you entertained. They use a hot shaving cream foam for your neck and use a straight razor to touch up the sides– 14 $ is a bargain in this town. Looked great when I was done, no waiting and guys were really friendly. Cash only but there is a BOA a block down if you forget.

Just got a haircut here. No wait. Very professional. And, most importantly, looks great. This was my first time here, so i reserve the right to revise this later. But I’ve been to Charlie’s down the street(and closer to my apartment) 4 or 5 times, and this was better. For you HLSers, Prof. Singer was in the chair next to me. For whatever that’s worth.

I’ve gone to Central Barber Shop for the year and a half I’ve lived in Cambridge and I’m happy with it. I never have to wait long, the price is fair($ 14/cut), and the haircut quality is good. It isn’t the best haircut I’ve ever had, but it’s nothing to complain about.

This is the real-deal old school barber shop. Fred cut my hair 20 years ago when I was a kid, and I ‘rediscovered’ C-B-S about 3 years ago. I’ve tried other fancier places, but this is way better. I think it’s men’s cuts only. They are closed Wednesdays!

I’m fussy(and probably old fashioned) about who cuts my hair and how they do it. I don’t want it washed first, I want a barber who knows how to cut it dry and who is going to put the work in with the razor where it’s needed. I tried 5 or 6 different places when I moved here before finding Fred about 7 years ago, and I have stuck with him since(generally regretting any moments of infidelity caused by scheduling emergencies). Even including messing around with parking on Mass Ave(there are meters outside but you need to be approaching from Harvard Square) I know that I can be in and out in under 20 minutes. The only issue I have is that I keep forgetting he is shut on Wednesdays!
